Easiest and most effective way to plant a tree
มุมมอง 514 ปีที่แล้ว
Don’t dig like crazy! Dont over-amend your soil! Find existing trees that will be, or have been, removed and plant next to them! (as long as it is not allelopathic or parasitic). Partner with the soil life and plant in a living system. If there is already another tree that you want to remove, planting next to it will help the new tree step into an established mycorrhizae community. The one thin...
Growing in a forest. Changing out the invasive species to staple crop trees.
มุมมอง 604 ปีที่แล้ว
A quick example of one way to change the forest to food producing trees without destroying the soil life and ecosystem.
Pandemics and Agriculture. How are they related? What does the soil tell us?
มุมมอง 2424 ปีที่แล้ว
The destruction of an established living soil from a permanent and natural growing system removes the soil micro-organisms that we depend upon! When the soil is destroyed and the main soil regulator, mycelium, is removed via tillage and lack or organic matter... all the mycelium's partnerships with soil bacteria are also destroyed. What happens next???
Worms: The most simple worm system
มุมมอง 704 ปีที่แล้ว
Give worms the environment they love, and they will work harder than you to improve the permanent growing system!!
YOU can make THESE easy to grow and/or native plants taste good!

DO THE KIDS APPROVE?! 3 permanent plants of a larger poly-culture or permaculture growing system turned into a NUTRIENT RICH dinner. Too easy and fun.
Can you improve the earth and eat good food at the same time? YES!
มุมมอง 1284 ปีที่แล้ว
Food source trees... staple crop trees can play a massive role in the establishment of healthy soil and atmosphere balancing. We need to grow a massive amount of trees in our farm lands and reverse soil degradation, and here is one way to take part in that process.
Increase planet and human health....Edible Hibiscus or Lau Pele and it’s importance
มุมมอง 6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Easy to grow and easy to eat, Lau Pele is one that should be in every garden or farm... even temperate climate gardens can grow this if you take cuttings before the frost and start new plants indoors during the winter.
How to have a resilient garden from pests and climate change for your area

If you want to work less and get more yield, stop and pay attention to the design that is specific to your area. Listen and watch... not just this video...listen and watch your surroundings.
Grow resilient trees from seed
มุมมอง 1044 ปีที่แล้ว
In our changing world, look to growing trees from local seeds. Trees have an amazing ability to adapt to the changes of our planet.... but only if we grow them from seed and stop selecting and replicating the same exact varieties over and over again. Let trees be amazing according to their design of adaptation!! Here is evidence in only just 4 years of new growth. If you have to obtain seeds fr...
I just stumbled upon your channel and had to subscribe. I love cooking/eating sorghum and have been considering growing my own. How much would you plant to provide a 5-10 pounds for just one person? I make my own maple syrup and have bees for honey, so this would be a wonderfully versatile crop to add to my rotation.
Amazing! The sorghum takes about 6 or 7 gallon juice to about 1gal of molasses. It’s not a bad ration compared to maple. I’d say if you planted 6 inches apart you could probably get that with 100 feet worth of plants . But that’s a guess.
I love you guys so very much!!! Keep on keepin' on!!!
Brennnessel käse, einfach lecker!
Juicing nettles sounds so good!
First time I came across your channel. My cold heart can’t take it. 4 minutes in and I’m turning to mush. I’ve been watching a few vids lately and I’m definitely going to grow this next season. Only 4 months away yikes 😬
What a great message there at the end. We need peace and community more than ever here in the US. We need to set aside politics and judgement and become tight knit communities that are humble, patient and cooperative in nature. AMEN TO THAT!
Well said! Thanks!!
Thanks 😂 Sorgho' family 👌 But why so many comments deleted ??
Howdy! Oh wow I don’t know of any deleted comments?

Nice tip about discouraging squash bugs. I found out this summer that I could get a good harvest of zucchini if I planted it about the middle of July to avoid the vine borers. I had a lot of squash bugs last year but not this year. Maybe planting late helped avoid them also? Not sure.
Yes that’s absolutely true! especially zucchini and other summer squash. (I like planting early, if possible, to get a longer harvest of mature winter squash that store longer in the root cellar) :).
Inspirador. Obrigado
When we were eating Sorghum Roti everyday until early Millennium era there were less health issues and Obesity now every thing is hey way in our current metabolism. I am proud of this Family 1000s of miles away made this wonderful video showing importance of health and Family Life style.
Thanks for sharing and your kind words!!! ROTI…. from Thailand?
BIg part of our culture here in Southern India. Sadly, we lost many varieties but slowly there is a millet revival now in many parts.
👍
No ads 🙏 thanks. Sorgot hadn't been "FORGOTTEN" but ERASED from farm cultures except in poor countries. Because it containt "Tryptophane" which increase the hormones of the body !!
interesting!!!
Great family video! Great parents!!
Tongans use it as a wrap like luau leaves for laulau. They wrap any meat/fish with coconut milk and cook (umu/oven/steamer). Many layer luau (taro leaf) for the outer wrap with pele on the inside then the meats and coconut milk. Tongans and Fijians consume it the most of all the islanders.
What came first the chicken or the melon?
HAHAHAHA
same as aibika?
They are closely related Im pretty sure!
I live in London UK where can i find some seeds of this amazing plant so i can grow it in my garden in Attica GR please?
if you can get cuttings mailed to you, that might work!
Will green cuttings not grow ? My friends "Auntie lilies south sea salad tree" fell over in a storm. She cut it in half, stood it back up. She gave me the 4' long top half. The stem is super fat but its still green. the leaves I pulled off of it were huge, bigger than a dinnerplate. The stem of her whole plant is still green all the way to the base. It's only just starting to get a little woody near the roots.
woops late reply. Did it grow? favorable conditions and these things start easily.
@ , it’s sprouted but then something ate the stem at ground level so it died before getting established.
i haven't had pele since i moved from Tonga 18 years ago..i been looking for some here in fhe U.S but cant seem to find any.
I miss it too! We moved from Hawaii. It doesnt like the mainland winters.
What the fook is lau pele? It's called hibiscus...
In english is called Hibiscus,, in Tonga is called Pele and Lau Pele in Samoa.
sometimes called bele? @@meliamedaverman3558
yes!
Do you sell cuttings? If you do I need them
Aloha from Maui
Aibika🇵🇬
It’s just pele. Freakin white people
First and foremost, you are not a gorilla, you're a human being 🤦🏾♂️
Hunans are primates and the only ones who eat meat. Gorillas are primates, as are monkeys, chimpanzee, orangutan, etc.
SOLID VID!
Yes. It gets slimy. Which gives its other name “slippery cabbage”
Can you ship some cuttings to florida?
it's hard to ship plants in and out of Hawaii. There's gotta be people in FL who have it.
The plant is called Pele, Lau means leaf 😉
nice
Please provide websites where we can puurchase the Tongan spinach?
Anyone knows where to buy tongan spinach?
This taste really Good. Great with soups 🙂🤤
Thanks look to add this to my garden after I saw a video that Pete Kanaris put out.
This plant is originally from Polynesia. The name is lau pele in Samoan language..
We call it "aibika" in Papua New Guinea.
Delicious

Excited to meet you Clint! Met with Leah and Shane today. Love you aren't tilling and everything you are talking about.
Gorillas don't eat meat because they've evolved as herbivores, they have a different digestive system to ours. Try living off bamboo and see how "crazy ripped" you become.
good info! another reason is most likely the roots of the existing tree have already broken through all the layers of hard pack soil
Good stuff
Stoked on these videos! Keep em coming!
