Nice comparison, although tuning stability should be discussed, especially concerning any guitar with a “wiggle stick”.
Thanks! Yeah that’s something that totally skipped my mind, next time!
@@lightfootfx - No time like the present - how is the tuning stability on both?
Really cool demo, I have the Tonex and I love everything about it except the software side… I’m just not a software guy at all
Thanks! Yeah I absolutely hate the software, it’s needs redesigned.
Great demo. You show how the modern variants are far more practical… but as soon as you played a chord on the traditional style the room woke up. The old styles are awkward and clunky but just sound like a Gretsch.
Exactly!
I loved the intro music - it really showcases what the H7 is capable of beyond the usual jazz/blues/rock sounds.
Thanks man!
... time for ACS1 Mk2 demo/review/shootout: more/new amps, noise gate, more/new IR's, screen
Yeah I plan to get my hands on one soon.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! You did a really great job! Where can I find the part 4 about delay and reverb? I recently bought the FM-9 and need to set it up to play in the church.
Thanks so much, I hate to say it but I never did finish that part 4 as I just got distracted. I need to go back to it.
Do you think the Dream ‘65 would pair well with humbuckers? I have a jaguar that has humbuckers in it.
Absolutely it’s great with humbuckers!
Good call! Love my White Panther, the predecessor to your centerblock double-cut Falcon. Have had it for years, and added a duo-jet a couple of years later. Have played it with my QC for last couple of years as well (after capturing my AC30), and find it hard to go wrong with higher-end Gretsch guitars,
I used to have a panther! Man do I miss it, it was such a good guitar. Yeah all these gretsch models are top tier.
Great tutorial. But why the amp and cab are the last in chain?
Hey thanks! I just prefer the sound of having my wet effects in front.
please compare tonex with the acs1🎉🎉
Great video. I think if I could only have one, the double cut is the more practical instrument. Then again, if I were going for practicality, I probably wouldn’t be looking at a Gretsch. I have a conventional solid body that’s my workhorse. And a hollow Gretsch 6120 Brian Setzer (basically a smaller, orange version of the SC Falcon) for fun. That 6120 is the most fun guitar I have, but it almost never leaves the house.
Thanks for watching, yeah I agree on the practicality statement, I grab the Gretsch for that specific niche sound it makes. I love the 6120!
I called Fender and they said the G6636T is being discontinued.
Oh interesting, I wonder if they will replace it with a new variation.
Nice rig! It is refreshing to see someone using a guitar other than a t-stye les Paul with a Bigsby.
Thanks!
How do you record your guitar?
I plug my pedalboard into my universal audio Apollo. I use some sort of DI in between to convert the board into balanced xlr.
Thanks for doing this comparison. I currently have a 6636 but was considering trading for the 6136. Do you think owning both would be redundant? I was looking at the 6136 with the TV jones so the pups would be different. Thanks for any feedback.
If your super in to gretsch and there products I think having both will definitely feel different and sound a bit different. They both can be eq’d to sound like each other I found. If your just after the gretsch sound I would stick with one personally and buy other types of non filtertron guitars because they all sound so similar but like I said just different enough if you were super into gretsch. Most people won’t be able to tell though.
So glad I found this tutorial. Really helpful. Thank you so very much for doing this. This is one of the best tutorials on the fm9 amd fractal out there.
They both sound great, have you played the cheaper china made Gretsch guitars? I'm curious how close or not they sound and feel in comparison
Hey, yes I have played the cheaper ones they feel pretty much the same I would say going off memory. Just not as much bling and may need to do some extra work on the nut and the frets weren’t as smooth I think which can also be fixed with a good guitar tech. I didn’t get to really compare them side by side though.
Hello, could you tell me which IR you use from Benson Chimera? In the comparison video with TONEX and Iridium. Please,
I am using the tone factor benson chimera XR IR 545 mic position 3
Where is the new rig run down video? Would love to see what you’re using these days.
I need to finish putting it together, it’s in pieces right now. I will put a video out for it though for sure when it’s done!
Hello, what a beautiful video! made me decide, I got the ACS1..... it's very versatile. Could you please tell me which IR you loaded into the ACS1 in the last test? which Benson Chimera IR did you load? which microphone? I thank you.
Hey thanks for watching! I used the 545 mic position 3 benson chimera IR
Sorry, but the background music during your intro doesn't work: it's a bit of a distraction and unnecessary. Again...sorry to say.
Thanks for watching! I think the tonex sounds and feels better than the acs1 but that’s just my opinion. I’ll try and get a direct comparison out between them sometime.
There’s a pickup in there? 😂
I love all these pedals. Can’t decide which one to buy first :/
If I could only have 1 it would probably be the ruby because I am an ac30 guy. If I was a fender guy I would go Fullerton.
@ me too :)
Been puzzling between these 2 so appreciate the comparison, unfortunately I’ve concluded that I want the slimmer body but single cut without the glitter 😂 the one that’s winning for me is the Richard fortus signature, just going to have to accept its doublecut! In an ideal world it would be 2.25 rather than 1.75 but hayho I’m not good enough to have my own signature guitar 🤦🏻😂 That full size one does sound lush though!!!
They both sound fantastic but if I had to choose I’d pick the single cut. It’s got a bit more grunt to it
Indeed it does have more grunt! Thanks for watching!
Hey man, what stand do you have the FM9 sitting on in your video? Thanks!
It’s an L shaped desk that I bought on Amazon, I don’t remember the brand but just search for L shaped desk.
Man. That Jazzmaster is freakin gorgeous. Sounds excellent with both clean & distortion. I’m an offset nut and like painted headstock too. Someday I’ll buy a proper JM or Jaguar. At the moment my main guitar is a Combinata, which sounds and plays freakin great. My 2nd is a Squier CV Jaguar that I swapped out the pickups and tuners on. It’s great but I’d like to get a nice luxe Jazzmaster at some point.
Awesome thanks for sharing! I’ll have to check out combinata, I’ve never heard of them.
In your studio are you using the yamaha hs5 or hs7 monitors?
Those are hs7 monitors
More fractal?
Thank you for making this, I've been debating getting a Falcon (again) and this is the most comprehensive comparison between the 2 models.
Hey thanks for watching! I’m curious what model do you think you’re leaning towards?
Dream all the way, it's a perfect platform for taking great pedals
Thank you for this video❤. I recently bought a new Tonex (big box) too, and this is my first ever pedal. I love your tone. And Could you please made your worship tone available for tonex capture via tone net🥺?
I have this pedal and only played with it for a little bit. Can I get these same tones if I run it straight into a FRFR powered speaker cab like the head rush? Right now I have it in the effect loop of my solid-state amp. Doesn’t sound as good. Any help will be appreciated
I have the special T in my bridge and vintage in neck and this video is not doing them justice. No shade at you, friend. Just saying for anyone reading this that you NEED these pickups.
Nice! Do you still have your old board? What do you think about the QC compared to your FM9 you had?
Hey! Yeah I still have my old board I’m actually rebuilding it right now 😅 I actually enjoy the QC more than the fm9 which I know is not the popular opinion, I plan to make a video on that soonish.
After all the review.... all i really want is a new strat!
😂
After updating to 2.0 did you notice on the Fullerton (clean, low gain setting) some unwanted combination tones when playing a minor sixth interval? (ex: intro of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room) Unless it's some kind of firmware glitch that only I got, I'm curious why no one else picked up on this nuisance. Fullerton, low gain, clean tone, any cab. Please comment!
Nice comparison! Video request: dialing in delay and reverb.
That is coming at some point!
good sound man. Can we use 2 different L R cab from iridium stock IR's?
Thanks! Yes I think you can, I will have to double check
@@lightfootfx how to?
No difference whatsoever.
2 tonex?
I'm putting the exact Lollar set in my tele tomorrow. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is with the Nash sets? Wound hotter maybe? Love em!
That’s awesome! Yeah that combo is crazy good!
Ordered the white one yesterday! It will be the 43 mm neck, not the 40.25 mm which the first gen is, but for me it's probably better since I' m used to the 43 neck size. Otherwise, you got a hell out of a tune there! Love it!
That’s awesome! Its a great guitar, thanks for watching!
Please stop looking at the camera when you hit a chord. Its a little strange. Cool board though 👍
Does the ACS1 have an effects loop like the Boss IR-2?
Hey it does not, you could put your wet effect after it though kind of simulating a wet effects loop.
Have you thought of putting a TC MIMIQ Doubler pedal inm front of the Tonexs pedals. I do this and it sounds great.
I have actually! It did sound really good, I didn’t put it on the board in the end just to try and keep it somewhat lighter haha
Great video sir!
Thanks for watching!
Hey nice review! I have a question… People say that the last upadate of the acs1 made it worse in handling gain pedals… Do you think so too?
As far as I know I didn’t notice it getting worse I feel like it was just as good.
@@lightfootfx Thanks!
Does having the DI/Line isolator into the audio interface help with your signal?
It’s only really necessary for if your running a long line like from the stage to the sound board at front of house. This will keep your signal full and intact. If your right next to your audio interface a normal TS quarter inch cable will be fine.
