Early 6.0 Power Stroke Oil Cooler Housing Upgrade and Gasket Kit
While in the heart of the 6.0 PS replacing the HPOP, I went ahead to also replace the Oil Cooler Housing with an updated version along with all the gaskets. Due to the early 6.0 housing and the turbo feed tube being discontinued I was forced to update the whole system. This is a unique situation only for early model 6.0 PS, hope this helps anyone struggling with the same problem. If you find this info useful please leave a like and subscribe, any questions feel free to comment!

    If you are building over 400psi your pump is probably fine and u just have a hpo leak at one of the o-rings. When an HPOP goes out completely your truck won't build pressure past 40 or 50psi. Air testing through your IPR port is crucial in these situations, that is what any 6.0 mechanic will tell you 100% of the time when faced with these symptoms.

    Been having to work on the HPOP on my early 04 F250. Your vids on it & this has been most helpful. Spooked myself when I wondered what the last little O-ring went to since didn't remove anything that had it then realized my cover is a little earlier than yours maybe so it's missing. Now if only IKEA-aspiring kit had the big filter O-ring in place of that little one.

    I get to do just this on 04 early 6.0. Hoping to maybe get away with as little excess disassembly as necessary & even if some things could maybe get left, having big hands would probably require more anyway. Also wasn't sure of what would HAVE to be replaced due to non-reusable gaskets. This definitely looks more helpful as a guide than the tear down I saw for the later motor.

    • @georgesrisomsak9650
      @georgesrisomsak9650 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should air check the system with an ipr air tool. Verify no leaks at stand pipes, injectors, oil rail. You won't be able to verify j tube seals without opening up the cover. If you go that deep, spend while you're in there and replace the hpop. Cnc fab makes a stage 1 that's $900. Best budget option. $1500 for a billet case unit, but that bulletproofs it. Early build trucks are better in my professional opinion as a seasoned diesel Ford technician. Less high pressure leaks, less lifter failures. Lots of very high mile early trucks still out there accruing miles with minimal problems.

When I like the way someone is doing their video i hit the subscribe button. I figure that's the least I can do for someone who has taken the time to record everything and share it with the world. thanks for the info, i know im in need of a new oil cooler, but there is no reason to throw a new one in there when the cooling system is still contaminated only once it’s flushed properly then a replacement motor craft oil cooler will suffice!

      @@lancevicente2274 You replaced the cooler. Then use the cooler flush hose . Turn the water on a slow amount. This keeps clean water in the cooler while you pull the stat and block plugs and flush the block.
