Nonlinearcircuits x Music Thing Modular Interview
มุมมอง 4.3K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Genius synth designer Andrew Fitch from Nonlinearcircuits appeared at CV Freqs, the London Modular Meet via Skype from his workshop in Perth, Australia. A couple of days beforehand, I (Tom from Music Thing Modular) did this test interview with him to check the whole system worked. We talked about chaos, clutter, the amazing Perth DIY scene and the best way to get started with his modules. You c...
Controlling an Eventide H9 with an arduino
มุมมอง 3957 ปีที่แล้ว
The knob box is running a simple patch where the two controls (coarse and fine) are mapped out to 9 parameters in any H9 patch. The idea is that you can make dramatic changes and select the results by ear, rather than deliberately tweaking controls.

Nice. Thanks for these videos!
Can one purchase this assembled? It's exactly what I hoped to find!
hey ... your name is familiar :)... subscribed. thanks for your work....
That's some great sound design! Very haunting and horror like!
That was surprisingly satisfying to watch.
It was a lot of fun Tom. At least we know what to do now. My workshop system arrived today!
I use Peper’s Rocket Sockets to tighten pot and switch nuts on all my builds (purchased from Fuzzdog), never any scratches!
you made MIKROPHONE? I thought it was a clone of MI Ears? Or did you design Ears too?
Ears was an evolution of Mikrophonie - once people started using Mikrophonie with Elements & Rings, Emilie asked if she could do a version.
So sexy !! Can you tell me more about the DI box ? Can we found some DIY instructions too? Thanks a lot, I am waiting for my Workshop system since yesterday now. So exited!
Oh yes that's an absurdly expensive DI box using British-made Sowter 4243 transformers and the standard schematic on their site
Love that it's still modular, though it's all in one case. Really want to get my hands on this system!
A few still in stock at www.thonk.co.uk/shop/workshop-system/
Fun little synth, right to my taste...
10mm socket wrench bit does the magic for pot nuts.
Perfect, I should have known that!
Love the systematic build approach. The alternative (tip everything out - push it to one side - hope we can find parts later) is entertaining but always makes me anxious !
Yes all my previous builds have been ‘fish about in a big sack to find some parts’ so this was much more relaxing
Can’t wait for these to come back in stock:):)
taking pre-orders on THonk now
In stock NOW
I love the map.
Thank you
preordered one , can't wait for it to come in
Wait...how did you do that???
@ thonk website
@mrsulcus674 Thonk have a waitlist.
@@tonalaxisI've been on that for a while, thought the "reordered" bit meant somehow they were bought and paid for and I'd somehow missed it.
A few still available at www.thonk.co.uk/shop/workshop-system/
Very nice project. It's interesting that internally it is composed of 4 eurorack modules, was that done to minimize the number of PCB revisions? I could see the computer in particular being useful as a stand-alone module.
Yes doing one mega board might have been a tiny bit cheaper but much fiddlier to assemble, I think
So fascinating seeing this go together - it was the perfect accompaniment whilst I was doing a whole load of admin. Although I’m not an experienced builder I feel from this video I could undertake it. Thanks for such an in-depth video Tom.
Same here, I joined the waitlist after watching this. Doesn’t look too hard!
I was already super keen to get one and watching 20 mins into, now I'm double keen. Tom, you’re amazing. Thank you so much for the time, effort and thinking you put into making the system. Another thanks for teaching me the bits that I didn’t understood about electronics and modular synths.
Love the attention to details ❤
Hi tom. This looks great. have seen your interviews with alex, which are great. Was wondering what your electronic background is. Cheers. All the best with your project.
When I started it was nothing - I went to a build workshop that Tom Bugs held in London. But I've been doing this for 12-14 years now, I've learned a bit along the way!
@MusicThingModular ,I have been interested in electronics awhile now and your designs blow me away. Appreciate your gift. Alex is very gifted too. Take care and all the best I am really enjoying the build.
Watching atm, good call on the signature/date signing section. Something that I've been doing with my kits. Makes it more personal. 😀
Tried one out at Bristronica and it was sonically very flexible for such a small device - only wish I’d had more time to play with it - great to see a more in-depth exploration from its maker - thanks for sharing Tom.
Sounds like an amazing retreat
It was a lot of fun - 2025 edition will be up soon at dyski.co/
Great vision along with product concept. Looking forward to future updates along with its progress.
Great overview of such a refreshing idea for a sound machine !
This is the best thing I saw in a long time. Not in this century for sure! Great comeback Tom! Can't wait for more :)
Great Work as usual Tom!
love it ... brilliant design .. looking forward to playing with one ..
The reverb sounds very nice 👌
Wonderful!

very cool, is it going through a low pass gate?
Hi tom I'm a student in South America and just got my first teensy could i please ask you if you'd share the code with me , I'm trying to learn but know nobody that's has the knowledge to help id really appreciate if you could , it will be only for my learning ill be forever thankfull , thanks!
Is the TRIG an input or an output?
Daft punk are sample legends, change my mind
Nice
Haha, that's awesome!
FYI - the Citizen link doesn’t seem to work. Is there a way to learn more about building a lunchbox euro-rack?
Omgosh! Say it ain’t so!!! (it hurts to laugh at this...)
Pretty sure it´s the dogs they design the circuits. Andrew just steals its.
Love these meet the maker interviews. Great stuff👍🏻
love it!!
Did this great looking module ever come to light as a kit?
very cool
Pity this module isn't available in EU. Thank you brexit...
Thonk do ship to the EU
@@tonalaxisUnfortunately, importing from the UK is not a great option after Brexit. Import taxes make it not a great deal where I live. It’s a common issue here on all UK products.
