One of the biggest challenges in designing a waterpark feature is reliability. It's fairly easy to design something that works when new, in nice clean conditions but waterpark features are notoriously poorly maintained and quickly get fouled with chemicals/minerals. Also, it doesn't matter how innovative the mechanism design is if the water display isn't good and it doesn't offer good play value. 🙂

Mushroom with a bucket over top is not a new water park feature.

Please tell me that's not an actual project of actual engineering students on a legit university, but something from a middle school or some elementary science fair. We've done stuff more complicated and more useful, properly manufactured it by casting, milling and turning, optimized for mass production and learned how to calculate costs, overhead and resulting margins etc. in trade-/tech oriented high school 25 years ago. I don't know if you always sckd that hard over there in the US but I can hardly imagine that. Now you're falling behind so hard, it's utterly disgraceful. China will whoop your a**es so damn hard in the foreseeable future you won't even know what hit you. Probably because by then everyone will be busy inventing and counting their nonsensical neopronouns and competing about their victim status. Get a grip ffs, it stopped being merely embarrassing to the bone quite a while ago. Now it's just pathetic beyond what words can describe.
