SOLO Backpacking: Lodgepole Loop- High Sierra Trail, Elizabeth Pass, Silliman Pass. Sequoia/Kings.
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This 55 mile, late August, SOLO backpack began and ended in Lodgepole- Sequoia National Park- Sierra Nevada Mountains. Starting and ending at 6700 feet the route tops out at 11,300 feet. I created this video for my own enjoyment and share it with any who might benefit from the experience. This is not an exciting video and might not be for most. But when I rewatch it I will be reminded of the ma...
SOLO Backpacking: Trail Pass- Siberian Pass- Army Pass Loop- Inyo and Sequoia.

This is a four day, 47 mile, loop that I inadvertently traveled. Water was either everywhere or nowhere. Trails required some route finding. As always the first priority is the hike, the video is second. I see myself as the audience for the video but enjoy sharing with the community which I appreciate. Find a hike you can do and enjoy this most beautiful creation.

A- No Agenda- adventure. Four days alone above 11,000 feet. On this trip I’m not logging miles but logging time in one spot. Sitting on this lake for four days I fell into the rhythm of the wild. I met several of the local inhabitants and became familiar with their routines. I recommend attempting this approach as another way to appreciate the outdoors. It’s just too much.

SOLO 3 day BACKPACKING. Sierra Nevada Mountains. SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK. California. These mountains are wonderful beyond description. One reflects on travelers that have come before over many many years and those who will come later- finding connection and contribution to the shared experience. SOLO Backpacking CRAZY MOUNTAINS Montana 3 DAYS

Mountain experienced people will not be surprised to see the snow conditions I encountered during this 3 day hike in July. For the rest this suggests the need to consider all conditions everytime when in the mountains. And by all means get into the mountains. THANKS to those who've contributed the many videos we all continue to enjoy. The more the better.

The Thorofare Trail, located in the remote southeast region of Yellowstone, is often cited as one of the wildest and most isolated areas in the lower 48 states, with a high population of grizzlies. It's also known for being the farthest point from a road in the continental U.S., making it a potentially dangerous spot for bear encounters. 😱

I hear that. And when out there- the beauty and adventure is so overwhelming that the fear fades away. Yes bad things can happen- that must be understood. And yet when you’re out there the only feeling is “this is worth the risk”.

My botherman, have you ever used topo maps and a compass to find your way in the high country? Back in the 1970s I did that in the high Sierras, and it made x-country, off trail hikes foolproof. I sure do ache with longing to be there again, but I'm very glad you and I have the same memories. I was pretty obsessed with fishing and had to fish In nearly every water I came upon, and used the fish as a big part of my travelling diet, so I planned the trips accordingly. Once my buddy and I went out for ten days with only Bisquick, raisins, crisco, and salt I kid you not. We ate well and lived like kings in the sun. Your vids are a service to me, a gift. Be well and go with God.

Thank you brother. Time on trail is good time. I’ve not used the “topos ” but I should. I appreciate your comments.

@@wanderandwonder7058 Your high-country-ologues are a gift. Some of my memories have faded a bit, and these vids bring them back into focus. The sights, sounds, cold nights, warm sun, the fragrances, exhaustion and reinvigoration, plunging into pure mountain water. Those pans really bring it back, and also the heavy breathing as you trudge up to the passes. I spent a lot of time each day standing and sitting for hours, just gazing at the wonders of meadows, lake basins, and mountain vistas, taking it all jn. It used to make me ache with wonder, I can still feel it.

Reverence for the high sierras is evident in these vids. It brings me back to my backpacking days. I had discovered; the peace of hiking only 10 miles between fishing spots to spend most of the days in silent wonder.

Backpackers do that far from camp and the trail, bury it and burn(in the campfire) or pack out the TP.
