Brilliant
I have made this hat but my brim is always too big and I've got too much material left. Any idea why?
No idea to be honest! Double check your scale square to make sure your pattern is correct, and be super careful when cutting as a small error on a curve can make a big error when you come to sew.
Omg thank you for this
Do you use the stretch thread in the needle and the bobbin?
Yes 👍
Dang! That's great!
Thanks for such lovely clear instructions. Really appreciate it👍
Really helpful tutorial. Well explained and thank you for not showing speed sewing on the machine 😊. I'm feeling much more confident now.
Thank you for your free pattern! When I’ve sewn bucket hats before, I’ve sewn the inside and outside hat completely Independantly but left a hole in the inside hat in the bucket part to turn. Then stuck them together right sides facing. It seems slightly less complicated this way?
Not the scissors, if anyone touches paper to my fabric scissors they are doomed, doomed I say!
Ermahgerd! Where was this last year, when I made awful Sandcastles using the other person’s tutorial?!! 😂 This one is BRILLIANT! Thank you so much. You may have rekindled my desire to use your pattern. I’ve not made any of the W&W patterns that I’ve bought, as I was seriously put off! Eek. So happy to have found this tutorial. Can’t make a new one immediately, but I’m looking forward to the next one being an enjoyable experience. I so appreciate you bothering to make this for us. Sooooo happy abut this. ♥️
Thank you so much for very clear and precise instructions! Very helpful!
Thank you for the you tube I am sure that will help.
Fabulous tutorial, so we'll explained. Thank you.
I always wondered on what the use or how to use that, now i know 😂
Ngl I always cut the hole first and then stitched around the edges 😂😂 I’m a Neanderthal I know
Tq 4 sharing
Best Tutorial ever for a beginner. I have seen a few and not too pleased with the outcome but this explained all the difficult bits so well. Can't wait to make another. Thank you 😊
This was so helpful! Thank you very much.
Superb tutorial. Thank you!
for sure surgeon imitate her 😳
Like a surgeon’s suture!
Instrument tie in the OR 😂 Love it
Thankyou for this. I'm new to your channel. Do you share how it sits on the body? I'd like to see how the bottom band sits tried on, as I'm not sure whether I like it or not 😅
Some machines have a twin needle button you need to press when using a twin needle (mine's a Brother)
Thank you ❤
Are your patterns ever on sale or do you offer a discount code.?
Yes we run a couple of big sales a year. I strongly recommend either following us on Facebook or Instagram, or signing up for the newsletter (www.wavesandwild.com and scroll to the bottom) as there may be a sale coming soon…
@@wavesandwildsewing Thanks, I really want to try this pattern.
That's great!! Thank you. I want to ask your opinion about How do I choose the best fit of the pattern to my head size. Although I chose the "right" size the hat seems to be a bit larger, so every light wind takes it off :)
So the hat isn’t designed to be a tight fit - if you look at Jack in the cover photo there is a bit of space there. If you like a tight fit then I would size down. Or there is a tutorial on the Waves and Wild website blog for adding a drawstring which would stop your hat flying away! 😁
Oh that's great. Thanks again.
Вау,вау, вау 👍👏.Всю жизнь на машинке строчу,а до такого не додумалась.🤝
Thank you! This has been very informative and helpful.
Nice 😋
I have made this a couple of times for my daughter (before even seeing this wonderful tutorial!) and she really loves it. I also made her a summer dress for Christmas using a half circle skirt instead of the band, and it was a great hit. She wore it on her holiday in Rarotanga, and had positive comments. (And when asked where she got her dress ...."my mum made it for me!") I have shoulder issues and can wear pull up bras, but can't manage to get into the crossover pattern - do you have a useful hack for old ladies like me, so I could make my own? I guess I need to cut the straps a bit shorter and straight. Thanks for the amazing, clear video.
I haven’t made one with straight straps but know many, many people have. You would need to starighten up the back straps and then experiment with the length of the front straps. It definitely can be done. 😊
Hi, I changed mine to straight. The only change I needed was during construction. I didn't cross the straps. I just put them in straight, basted, tried on, and adjusted length.
Oh my gosh. Bought the pattern last year and now this tutorial will be fabulous to follow, and adding powermesh too! Thank you! 😊
So glad it's helpful!
If you do this again can you please make clear exactly how the strap layers are sewn together. Like how do you get a presser foot in that tiny circle? 😮
Hi, you don't have to sew it in a circle, you get all the edges level and sew straight across it flat.
As @susanholmes5396 says - you don't sew a tiny circle, they're laying flat, one inside the other and you just sew a short, flat seam.
Thank you
That was a fantastic tutorial and such a lovely finish. I love Waves and Wild patterns, I have lots of them, thank you!
Thank you!
I’m in Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪
That was great, thanks so much. Going to try this with a hoodie today - it’s been a mission as it’s a fluffy almost fake fur and my machine has just wanted to eat it. It’s going to be so lovely when finished so I can’t wait to try this far neater looking finish to the inside back as it bugged me on my first one that it looked messy. 😊
fluffy fabrics can be challenging but so worth it in the end!
That was so helpful.
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing xx
A great tutorial, thank you ❤
Thank you. That will be great addition to t shirts and jersey dresses. Such clear instructions.
Thanks so much for this video. I've just purchased this pattern and this tutorial has given me a much needed boost of confidence! Looking forward to making these undies! 💚
Excellent tutorial!
Hi..I just want to ask ..can I make it this bucket hat from your pattern and sell it in my business?
Yes, absolutely. Small, independent businesses are welcome to use Waves & Wild patterns!
@@wavesandwildsewing thank you
I was totally doing the last step wrong! Thanks for the video and pattern!
Muchas gracias! tu explicación fue de gran ayuda♥
I don't chop of those corners and fold them towards bottom instead. Then I attach them with few hand stitches. Think it strengthens the bottom of the bag. Can't see this through 😊 thank you for the tutorial, just what I'm hoping to make today
Really helpful, thankyou!
Thanks!!! I finally understood the burrito method 😅
Can you use this method for hoodies too?
Yes, it would work on pretty much anything with side seams!
This was so helpful, thank you! Came out so much better with no unpicking, unlike my last attempt without the tutorial!
So helpful! Thank you so much!! ❤
I'm so glad you found it useful.
So helpful! Without the video I think I would've ended up with a möbius strip!
