What did they do with this guitar?
Some time ago this Martin D28 is came to my shop. As I was told it was left for a while in a really humid area. But as I was looking closely I noticed a clear traces of someones attempts of repair. With a CA glue... On a nitro finish 🙃
Of course it raises my concerns, and I was really quite surprised when I looked inside. But anyway, here how I deal with this 😊
Materials and tools:
Whitespirit (solvent)
Tajima DC390B
Painters palette knifes
Hikoza japanese chisels
Glue UHU Allplas - glue for binding
Titebond Original
Bessey Clamp GSCC2.506
DIY Spool Clamps
DIY scrapers from HSS saw blade
DIY sanding pad (I prefer Ersta sandpaper for this)
Kovax Assilex pad with 800, 1200 and 1500 grits
Mohawk gloss nitro lacquer M102-0450
Dunlop 01 deep cleaner
Dialux polishing compounds (green) for frets
Menzerna polishing compounds 1100, 400 and 2400 for lacquer
Old toothbrush (🙃)
Proxxon IBS/E
Peterson Strobotuner
In case I forgot something - ask me and I add it 😉

Why so many troubles with binding?

Today we have a very short video with a fairly common problem with Martin guitars. Despite this, I still consider these guitars to be one of the best acoustic guitars out there. You also can follow me on the Instagramm tadyka_guitar_repair Materials and tools: Whitespirit (solvent for cleaning old glue) Glue UHU Allplas - glue for binding Thin CA glue (literally any brand) with a...

American Fender Telecaster Nut Failed
I had that exact thing happen- but when I would clamp one side the other would spring out. I had to end up gluing the top with CYA glue, and only work in 2 inch sections until it dried. That way I could control it and ensure a previously glued area didn't shift out of control. You did a great job.
I wonder whether oxalic acid solution in the crack before gluing would lighten the oxidation and dirt line of the crack?
Nice phone case😊
Some people aren't getting the joke, and it makes me sad for them.
Failed nut? You mean truss rod? Or maybe the nut on the rod?
We are in a Golden Age of guitar building compared to the cheese grater import guitars that fed the guitar craze of the 1960’s. The current selections are better designed and built, made from better quality materials, with a greater selection of styles at lower price points than at any other time. In spite of the whining, a beginner can purchase a Harley Benton or a Firefly that is a playable guitar at a comparatively lower price than the $50 catalog guitars of 60 years ago.
I’d love to learn how to do this.
У кого они отпускают те не смазывают их
pls dont use cut pliers as universal ones 😂 you'll en up cutting the springs
She’s good been watching her for years
Please share what you use to finish guitar repair like you just did. It’s a confusing world and I’m new to it. Love ya!
man that fractal press looks great!
Well, that's the sound for Halloween!
I just kicked a puppy because of you. Love your channel ❤
The squeaky tuner gets the grease 😆
Bro grease those things im begging you
give those poor things some grease or something, jesus
This happened to my American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster too. Such a traumatic experience dealing with Fender USA.
Wow...perfect repair!! Those fender truss rods are not my favorite either!
Yeah right
Years in the making, but never put in a decent tensioner bushing
#jamieryan
You open the crack with a round screw driver, and after it dried, you find the second one, professional, you are not .
@@posford you know there is a holes for tuners screws? 🙃
@@TadykaGuitars sry you touched my ocd
Not a luthier. I have an early 90's squire jazz that was literally being held together by the tuning machines. I drilled it out with a drill press and tapped in dowel pins with wood glue. Seems solid now.
How many regrets have you completed???
Fender quality control right there makes you so glad they charge an arm and leg 🤷♂️
Maybe talk through the process?
Was that linseed oil? I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with my maple fretboard at the moment and can’t decide
This is Osmo Top Oil, I totally recommend. I don`t like linseed oil, first of all - the smell, and it become way too yellow with time 🙃
@@TadykaGuitars oh wow, Osmo is one of the oils I was considering…if that’s the one you recommend too than that’s great news, thank you! 🤘 yellowing over time is exactly the reason I was hesitant to use oils but now I’m so happy I asked!
nah bro i was on a tight budget and started learning guitar like 2 years ago on my brothers acoustic but wasn’t consistent so last year my grandpa got me an epiphone sg for $150 and for that price it’s honestly a pretty good guitar but the truss rod is so mf tight and i can’t loosen it or tighten it
Probably why it was only $150.
I had 4 USA martins before switching to Gibson...my question with that brand is...after so many years claiming to be the best, why havent they got thier binding issues under control yet? And why are they so hard to keep intonated and humidified? Underbuilt?
Нахуй я это посмотрел?..
My1993 HD-28v has only had finish issues. The finish delaminates and chips off. I bought it ne and Martin doesn’t want to warranty repair it. As a septuagenarian it’s becoming hard to play, my 000-18 and slope shoulder Gibson get all the play now.
Siempre me han gustado estos videos de gente callada, anónima (en el mejor sentido, porque no se muestran) y efectiva. Nos señalan un amor a su delicado trabajo que redunda generalmente en dejar "tocable" un instrumento que no daba lo mejor de si. ¡Admirable!
Thank you!
Super Brave with the Chisel and no tape
0:28 that sound 😖
Didn't really show us how to do the knot, did it??
ok, I hear you 😉
What guitar is that
Godin Multiac Grand Concert SA
Thise E strings are close to the spoon edge. Wouldnt wrapping them to the inside get them more space?
it`s totally fine. I prefer this way to achieve more or less even angle on the nut :)
Это охренительный труд! 🤘
LOL hydrating a Richlite fingerboard.
@@kimbopslayer562 this is ebony 😉
where the hell have you seen phenoboard with wood grain
I thought ALL these Godins are Richlite, even the Grand Concert. Are you sure? Maybe it's pre 2000.
@@kimbopslayer562 totally sure, this is not the first one 😊 . And yes, it is pre 2000 🙃
@@TadykaGuitars the tops grain is very nice and tight.
NEAT! IF YOU GOT THE FUNDS TO PURCHASE TOOLS
Very very good 👍😊
Что происходит в этом видео?
Where's the full video? Lol
Was ich schade finde dass man die Gitarre zum Schluss nicht lange genug zeigt. 😢😢😅
Just glue it back. Waste of time.
That is literally whole video is about 🌚
