Innovations in training for sterile processing— An educational framework for teaching complex skills
Training methods need to be optimized to ensure sterile processing professionals acquire and retain important skills. This video describes a new training model that Ofstead and HSPA developed and tested with a program focused on visual inspection of endoscopes using borescopes. In this video, Cori Ofstead, MSPH explains how this new, evidence-based training model worked and gave tips for incorporating key findings in your training programs.

Suctions and shavers - oh my!
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
We’ve found lots of icky stuff when we inspect endoscopes with borescopes, but what about the lumens of surgical instruments? Krystina Hopkins, MPH, describes findings from borescope investigations of suction tips and arthroscopic shaver handpieces. This video covers content included in Ofstead & Associates’ free, 1-hour, CE-eligible webinar called “Beyond endoscopes: Visual inspection of surgi...
Sterile processing issues in outpatient urology clinics
มุมมอง 909ปีที่แล้ว
Recently, urological endoscopes have been designated as a “high-risk” for inadequate processing and potential germ transmission. In this video, Cori Ofstead, MSPH, reflects on her experiences auditing outpatient urology clinics and the challenges faced by personnel responsible for processing scopes, probes, and stainless-steel instruments in these settings. “Hang time” limits for flexible endoscopes
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
The acceptable length of time for storage between endoscope processing and patient use is controversial and depends on a lot of assumptions about processing effectiveness. Thanks so much Informative video I'm cssd & Endo technologist
I’m going for an interview to become a QC tech for endoscopes and this really helped me learn more about them. Thank you!
Best wishes.
Very informative thank you S
Would you mind posting the devices and/or setup you use to get these images?
During our studies, we used bench-mounted and hand-held magnifiers provided by Healthmark. Some external images were captured using an M8 Lenovo Android tablet. We also used borescopes from Clarus, Healthmark and Steris (Cantel/Medivators) to capture external images.
For the BF-1TH190 Bronch scope @6:30. Is that a Stiffness/Tensioner dial or a Rotation Ring?
Thank you for posting the very informative series. Can you recommend a particular model to cover all flexible endoscopes- my unit oversees reprocessing of the full range and a Boroscope rig to cover all would be a great advantage as we have a mixture of new and legacy inventory in our fleet.
First, we do not endorse any particular product. Second, for our published studies and webinars, we have used borescopes from Healthmark, Clarus and Steris. You will likely need two different diameter cameras-- a large one that would be around 2 mm and a smaller one less than 1 mm. Some units allow for plug-n-play of different camera sizes.
Scariest stuff yet if you think about it!
Yes it is!
Great visuals that everyone that processes scopes should be aware of and view regularly. Nicely done as always!
Glad you enjoyed it!
