Awesome job. I'd been planning for a while now on building out a 2012-ish AWD Sienna as a couple's camper, but started thinking about a Suburban/Yukon XL in the past weeks. I'd be taking out the middle and back rows, and this platform/sliding drawer setup seems popular for a reason. i might try using -no- bottom piece so the drawers slide on carpet. Vertical pieces glued and screwed from the top, with steel brackets on front and back faces. ventilation holes drilled in the top to reduce moisture in the mattress. To make it 49-50" wide, narrow strips attached along the side to accomodate two 25x75 tri-fold mattresses. Ultimately, i'd like as much clearance as i can get from the mattress to the ceiling, while still having decent drawers. I'm really loving the idea of this vehicle/type of build. Now if i can wrap my head around Suburban mileage vs. Sienna mileage for cross-country travel.... 😆
@@smosh91 very cool. Good luck with your build out with whatever route you go. I got the idea for mine build from another YT channel @suboverland. I get about 15.5 mpg on average in my Suburbans. Mine is a daily driver, work truck, kid hauler primarily and a part time camping & fishing rig. I love the versatility of the Suburban platform.

IMO First of all, dumb place to put it. You most likely scratch the paint when removing or when putting it back. If even one side lets go when driving it becomes a heavy in the windshield or hood and cowling. They are not lightweight.
neat

Do what makes you happy, but since you asked my opinion here it is: I don't like your LED head lights. They look like bug eyes. A TJ is now a classic. Why would you destroy the classic look? I understand that the stock head lights were too dim, but you should have gotten Holley RetroBrights. They are bright LEDs that don't look like LEDs. As far as your fog lights go, you obviously didn't do your research before you asked if you should go with warm white H3 LEDs, because they don't exist. Only 6000k to 6500k are available and that cold color doesn't look stock. The answer to brighter warm stock fog lights is to use the Hella 100W H3 bulbs but you need to make a relay wiring harness for your fog lights because all that current running through your fog light switch will eventually burn it. Also, the fog light switch is a chokepoint for current. By using a power relay you'll also get full current from the battery and brighter lights. I'm not going to explain how to do this. Join The TJWrangler Forum and you'll see some posts about this.
@@cannonball666 thanks! I’ll look into them. I agree time look of the Sunpie LEDs isn’t great, but they are super bright and very good at night. I originally bought the TJ to fix up a little bit and resell, but my wife liked it too much so we kept it (for now anyway). I also have a 95 YJ that’s very close to stock.

@@oscarfoxman785 yes! My TJ drives just fine and I like the cruise control, but I think my YJ drives better.
@@hanshoeg I think it has a lot to do with the YJ having leaf springs instead of coils. The coil spring suspension on TJs just feel so mushy.
@@oscarfoxman785 probably right
3:15 thank you so much for saying so, I had wondered about that, after brief experiences in a YJ and a TJ!

Id like to see someone make a video of a 95 YJ and have owned it since they bought it new in 1995.
@@chrisb3976 I’m sure there are some people out there who have a 1 owner YJ!
If that is the only rust after nearly 30 years its a testament to the quality of the yj,s, i have a couple and its the same on mine. Tj,s rust far more as the double skin thinner metal wings and floor rot due to condensation from inside. Last of the TRUE leaf sprung parkway factory built TOLEDO jeeps. Glad to be an owner of such an amazing vehicle.

Wow--really great looking YJ!! So clean as opposed to most others. That is a gold mine. Don't see many in that shape. David--2003 Jeep TJ Rubicon owner for 21 years now--48K miles!
@@davidgore5719 yeah thanks! Very cool- that’s super low miles for a TJ. What color is it? My 01 TJ Sahara is white and spice soft top.
@@hanshoeg Wow--a YJ and TJ owner! My TJ is Bright Silver Metallic. Ordered her in fall 2002 while deployed overseas fly combat missions over Afghanistan. She was delivered in May 2003 upon my return to the states. First year of the Rubicon model and she just turned 21!! Need to take her out for a few drinks--LOL!

I have a 94 green Sahara. 135k with a little more rust (PA winters) I like driving it more than my 09 JK! Great ole Jeeps!
@@marcthomas2482 that’s great. 👍🏻 I test drove a 94 green Sahara hard top manual with a snow plow before I got my black YJ. I loved it but too much rust.
Just curious, if this handles better on the highway, why do you daily drive the TJ? I just got a TJ and love it.
@@leelahd4428 It drives better, but it is rougher on bumps (leaf vs coil spring suspension). I treat the YJ more like a classic car and it lives with no top all summer. Shorter trips in good weather I take the YJ. But the TJ has a soft top that I put up and down, cruise control and is setup as my “work truck.” It also has a better trailer hitch & wiring kit if I need to pull a small trailer.

Hans, Nice job on the update! Do you know which base plate brand is on your Jeep? Ole
Thanks! No I don’t. It was on it when I bought it.
Love your show , and your YJ
Thanks!! Much appreciated
I bought a brand new one in 93, didn't have the vent windows as mine was a factory soft top, and had the half doors stock, I also didn't have AC, so just heat when needed. I wasn't a fan of having to put the gas in behind the plate either, you had to have some short bolts on the plate or it would ruin the paint back there. I did love that Jeep though, I bought it for 15K, sold it three years later and got 12K for it.
Very cool! I believe hard top, full doors, AC, 4.0L, automatic, side step, etc were all add on options that the original owner custom ordered on mine.
@@hanshoeg I cant remember if the 4 liter came stock or if there was a 4 cyl option, mine came with the 4.0 and was also a manual, I certainly wanted the manual and 4.0 though. Whenever I see anyone driving one, I always make sure to say hello and that I like their Jeep. Currently on my 2nd Gladiator....
@@cobra935o Very cool! 4 cyl manual, soft top was the standard I think... 4.0, auto, hard top, AC, etc were all add on options if I’m not mistaken.
