Typing sound check!
I used to be a Razer guy but when I bought my first custom mechanical keyboard, Epomaker TH80, the rest was history. I am still new to the custom mechanical keyboard community who prefers 65%, 75%, (sweet spot) and TKL. I do simple videos of unboxing, mostly typing, and just about anything techy I guess as repository.
Started this hobby Q4 of 2023 so let's both learn and have fun with the journey!

This seems to be one of those builds that really shows how much leaf noise sswr v2 has. Its unfortunate, v1 was fantastic. They should have released this as a whole new switch with different colors imo.
Sometimes the v2 does not really mean an upgrade to some. Haven't tried the v1 though. But yes I hear you. Prolly a "feature" and I'm not really bothered by it.
Which set is the clackiest? And which the least?
Very slight difference to be honest but I would say GMK being the clackiest and PBTfans would be the least.
MZ Y1 sound so good
It actually does. I wish I got to try the Z1 but was out of stock. My only gripe would be the bottom out force of 57g. Kinda used to lighter switches these days.
How does this compare to the neo65? Would you recommend for someone who already has the neo65, qk65v2, etc?
Can't speak for the QK65V2 as I don't personally have it. The Neo65 is very hard to beat especially with its ability to run various configurations with or without foams and multiple mounting options. The Tofu65 is good if you like foamy builds. To answer your question, no I do not recommend it because you already have those banger boards.
PC has a slightly deeper tone, I’m feeling the PP plate more, which is ironic because I’ve been building PC for the last few builds I’ve gone with
Wait 'til you get your hands on those. Pretty sure you're gonna like it.
interesting, pp sounds kinda better
I agree!
dang i thought the softer the plate the deeper it sounds but dang pp is so clacky
Sounds full and more solid to my ears
Lookin good! 😮
Thank you! Cheers!
I still need to try a pp plate
For less than 20 bucks do it lol this and the CF has become my favorite
@@DadTech1981 I just cant decide what board to try it on. Some boards don't have a cheap option like the neo stuff does. Maybe neo65?
Neo65 would be a good start! Lemme know how you like it
The Hyperboring PP okay definitely gotta pick it up now 😂 Sounds so good, how is it on the typing experience?
It's fairly cheap too! In terms of typing feel, it is a soft material comparable to pc/pom.
....These are a few of my favorite things! lol Absolutely love everything about this combo and the sound test came out fantastic!
I appreciate the kind words! PP does not disappoint.
@@DadTech1981 tis what she said?
ah yes xinhai on pp! the classic hmx ear breaking sound hahaha i am convinced that some of the frequencies are higher than what the human ear can pick up
Ear breaking lol indeed, they're really loud IRL.
Because of you, I just cart out from Hyperboring.
Free marketing for them lol
@@DadTech1981 for sure
WOW
🥂
This sounds wild. Love it
Thanks! I remember our conversation with this keycap few months ago.
PP sounds so good!
It definitely lives up to the hype!
Anything and everything sounds so good in the Neo’s 🔥🔥🔥
No one will disagree with you. King of budget 65!
is the qk65v2 screen edition as good as the neo65?
Can't say much about the qk65v2 as I don't own one. But based on experience, qwertykeys is doing an amazing job producing quality budget boards.
PC bottom coming in with the hard carry once again. Super nice. I have always preferred the sonnet with plate foam personally
That's not a bad thing to be honest. Personally, I admire boards that could run in various configurations without sounding thin and hollow. Btw, I agree that the PC bottom is carrying this board. The alu bottom is just collecting dust lol
@@DadTech1981 I am just accepting that my sonnet won't ever be perfect. I don't know how other people make their non-pc bottoms sound so great, but whatever. I can get it sounding solid enough at least.
@@justanotherpxrson Honestly, I was about to give up on this board. Still not perfect, but I am satisfied in its current state.... fortunately
@@DadTech1981 I was almost there at one point too honestly
This is that full sounding Sonnet we all want 🤪🔥 Sounds as lively as those keycaps look!
Tried other switches as well and they sound decent. The BSUN Tai Chi stands out. Moreso, I think the missing piece was the PC bottom. I can finally say that I am enjoying this board with no foams.
😊
Thanks for stopping by!
Currently typing on these at this very moment! Lol is the O Ring growing on you? 😏
I could definitely appreciate the O ring as it gives you a slightly different typing feel and sound especially the SB. However, I miss the typing feel of dumbell gasket mount.
Flow like Starky and Hutch. Killing it in the Keycap game man!
That's what happens if you let yourself get deep down the rabbit hole lol
smoothies on that PC plate sounds phenomenal !
I'm really surprised it turned out so good!
Which sounds more thocky?
This build is not meant to be thocky. But, to answer your question, the non flex cut would give you a rounded and more solid sound with or without foams. The flex cut PCB tends to sound thin but softer typing feel.
Slappin
Yeah especially if I have low expectations LOL kinda surprised
this sounds incredible
I really appreciate the constant support brother!
@@DadTech1981 np lol im addicted to keyboards 💀
@@justanotherpxrson you are not the only one 👏
akhh that sounds so good.. i'm also considering getting this switch. somehow I'm tired with the high pitch sound sig from hmx .. hahaha.... but does this thing still have a good amount of volume ? (also need this switch on Neo board with CF.. so I know how it will sound in my board too ..hahah)
Yes, not as high pitched as HMX but decent amount of clack. My only gripe is the inconsistent factory lube. I had to crack open some and wipe off lube. Overall, I can see why it's a popular switch. Bang for the buck and typing feel is very smooth.
@@DadTech1981 yeah... i've heard people had an issue with that prelube amount... and people telling me to get gateron sea salt instead ( the heavier in spring version, and shorter stem... with better prelube ). sound wise, almost the same I dunno which one I 'd get in the future, but thank you for sharing your opinion and experience ...hahah
I don't have the sea salt to compare it with. I guess it's worth the try and lemme know! Welcome and thanks for watching my videos
@@faizduriat4427 I have some smoothies and first they feel and sound great but after some time they feel super slugish and sound super muted
I get what you mean. It tends to sound a little muted if your ears are used to high pitched clack especially if you compare it with HMX (sound and factory lube)
mika growing on me, at first i thought it was too close to serika, but i really been enjoying seeing it on boards
I've yet to unbox my Serika but I do think they're pretty similar. You have a soft spot for man's best friend?
@@DadTech1981 i dont recall ever hearing gat switch clack like on this build. sounds great. pc plate too. great build
@@shylocutus Exactly! It surprised me how loud and clacky in turned out to be. Honestly, I am starting to not like the PC with HMX so I ordered our favorite PP and should be here soon.
What would be the name for this sound? Clack?
I'd like to say somewhere in the middle but leaning toward clack if that makes sense 😁
that thing got some pretty bright rgb
It does! Sometimes I like my RGB every now and then.
wow that looks sooo cool! love it
Thank you! Cheers! 🙌🏼
Oh man, I wish I was able to grab one of these with the transparent case before they went out of stock. Seems like such a banger board for only $50!
The second release had 1.6mm non flex cut and sold out pretty quick! They still have the beige though if you want that
@@DadTech1981goddamn, wonder how it performs foamless
@@ZeroChoices check this out: th-cam.com/video/O9Ew4hrT-LU/w-d-xo.html
@@DadTech1981 1.6mm non flex cut might be really good value for foamless
@@ZeroChoices really curious how it'll affect the sound
neo65 too good, these neo switches slapping hard. love it
Yeah my go to board for sound tests!
Gold accents go hard with the Tiramisu. Sounds great with those Cheese!
Thank you my guy!
Awesome video! Sound was on point!
Glad you think so!
definitely see how my Flip 6 is remindful of your loop, Loop sound amazing with those Cheese switches!
HMX loves PP for sure!
No foam makes the sound hollow
The top row? They sound a little thin, but not hollow.
cheese clacks so hard
You know it! 👌
HMX Cheese 🧀 - a great switch. This sounds great man!
Hey thanks! They definitely need more love haven't been using them that much.
can we say that it is high pitched linear switches actually i was looking for them
You won’t regret it. This is my favorite HMX.
Nice video pops
Glad you enjoyed
AliExpress coming in clutch with these aftermarket PP plates
Yes sir! In fact, I ordered another one for the Neo80 and should be here next week.
great vid! how would you compare the sound profile of the qk75n against the neo80?
The Neo80 has a tiny bit of hollowness when using certain plates like CF. Barely noticeable though but if you listen closely. I'd go with the QK75N in term of sound profile. But in terms of ease of build, definitely the Neo80 which is one of favorite board in the collection right now.
@@DadTech1981magnetic connector + ball catch mechanism is just way too convenient, love that combo so much
@@GSixFiveFourThreeFourDashTwo can't beat that especially for its value!
@@DadTech1981 same happens with qk75 on cf plate, at the end I bought the pp plate just waiting for it
@@lute_cg Lemme know how it goes!
same keyboard i also have but with purple and white mix keycaps love neo65
Yeah it's a popular board for many reasons: features, value, and sound profile.
SMOKE TRANSITION GO CRAZY
Lol yeah trying to add some magical humor to the content
hey the backspace sounded good
Exaaactly! This board is outstanding
midnight blue is another switch option. and the oil kings?
First time I heard of midnight blue tbh lol I only have sample switches of the oil kings so can't comment on that yet
The raptor switches are the best spec hmx switch for me, its jsut that the travel is 3.1mm which seems too short for me since im used to cherry switches, is this noticeble to you compared to other longer travel switches?
Yes! Very noticeable and benefited me significantly when gaming. For normal daily typing, I don't recommended this as this is prone to mistakes.
@@DadTech1981 Thanks for the reply, i will probably jsut go with the hmx clouds or the cherry mx hg blacks depending on how much of my budjet is reamaining!
