Baby It's Cold Outside (but the temperature keeps fluctuating)
whenever I'm not in tune, you can imagine it's because of the temperature

I've colored the notes to make a loose guide as to which parts come from which song: purple: "Poor Unfortunate Souls" blue: "Friend Like Me" OR: the piano will mostly be playing "Friend Like Me," and the melody solo horn will mostly be playing "Poor Unfortunate Souls." "Piano" part performed by the ever-talented Musescore (because I did not record all the parts on the horn, due to both mixing r...

Silent Night, horn quintet
มุมมอง 1.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Originally written for brass quintet by Paul Sharman (from Salvation Army "Sounds of Christmas", affectionately called "the red books" by my friends and me). Please ignore three things: 1. How loud my valves are 2. How loudly my chair squeaks 3. The microphone issues (esp at 0:41) whenever I got too excited
Duuuuudddee sttoooopp cuz this is too good 😭😭
Wow incredible!
Your silent range on horn is AMAZING! Beautifully done! I wish my silent range was that nice. (so does my spouse)
I like this style of context with the instrument playing.
“whenever I'm not in tune, you can imagine it's because of the temperature” 😂. Great video Ava 📯😊
If I had friends I’d ask them if they wanted to play this with me 🥲
Who needs friends? I just cloned myself 😃
@ that is genius
I actually love your goofy covers so much. They are just too perfect to be real. *A FEW QUESTIONS*: 1) Do you have any tips on increasing range on both high and low registers? My highest comfortable note without completely readjusting my embouchure is a D on the staff (depending on hand positioning it could be a high E on the staff), and my lowest is an A just below the staff I think, unless it’s a G. 2) Do you have any recommendations for hand positioning? What I mean is do you normally adjust your hand in order to reach specific notes easier? 3) Is there anything you’d highly advise to a brand new French hornist that switched from clarinet? (My eldest sister’s degree requires at least a basic understanding of every wind instrument) 4) Do you have tips for playing horn in general? *NOTE* I’m a fast learner. I played in my schools first concert after three months of knowing horn, meanwhile everyone around me had been playing for at least two years. *UNRELATED-ISH* On the topic of learning quickly, I’d only been playing horn for maybe six months before I started high school and was in marching band on mellophone. I was able to play in almost all of my first show (I have a muscle tone disorder and sometimes heart palpitations that mess me up 💀💀). If you want to watch that show I’ll put what you should look up on yt below⬇️ “Science Hill High School marching band 2024 Unmasked at the land of the sky marching band festival 2024” ⬆️ that’s the best recording on yt 😭💀
Omg your big return you're literally so good and famous!
Look out for me on the Grammys next year 🫡
2:13 sunglasses Ava reference 🗣🗣🗣🗣 Hoping this goes viral in approximately 3.7 years
Sunglasses make one canonically cool and wealthy, or so they say
Okay but this is actually *fire* (get it? Fire? Like hot? Like, temp… oh nevermind, you wouldn’t get it)
Yeah I don't get it. Obscure reference
You mean fire like dismissing someone from employment? I don't know... I can't really say this reference has had EXCELLENCE COORDINATION
Nice one dude 😎 👉👉
Loving your creativity!! Vibes are "I'm feeling it's time to play in the snow and work up a sweat"
Very clever Ava! Nice job on the video and the arrangement! Happy Holidays to you!
Absolutely hilarious! As a clarinet/bass clarinet player I feel for you!
WOW!! You are a hero! And an impressive musician!
I still wanna be Ava when I grow up -Isaiah
1:12 bruh oiling the rotors is wild 💀😭✊
People in my band do this thing where whenever someone bumps their horn or drops their mouthpiece, we all say “That’s the sound of money”. The end was the sound of money right there
OMG I WANT THIS SHEET MUSIC SO BAD NOW 😭😭
Earned a sub with this one 🔥🗣️💯
Beautiful tone from the horn. Warm and rich. It suits the song like chocolate on a strawberry. I can’t get enough! Excellent job to both of you!
We French hornists must stick together throughout our misery. Many say that “living an upbeat life” is good, but for a musician… **sigh** it’s exactly the opposite. The syncopation is awful…
Hey Ava, I don't know how your videos appeared in my TH-cam feed, but you've got a great f-horn talent and a wonderfully quirky sense of humour! Speaking as a trumpet player, we always got the best parts, never any off-beats. Bill in London, Canada

I was kinda looking forward to the whinny.
Hahahahhahahah
I *need* to make an arrangement of this (also, fantastic playing!!)
Solidarity from the orchestra over here - the viola part in the orchestral version is exactly the same 🙈
Oh snap! a new video!!! oh... sorry...
the acting. the drama. I honestly think it comes down to this: God knew you'd be the most powerful human on the fact of this earth if you have the ability to snap!
💜
That was fun, i loved being able to sing along tonthe words in my head. The melody was on point.
Don't feel bad, I can't do the finger whistle thing.
Hilarious! And awesome playing too!!!!
Your video has made my day. Absolutely hilarious self- deprecating humour and some Absolutely fantastic playing. Brilliant and thank you!
this was SO funny!!!!! loved it sm!!
What
makes you think I care
How DO turtles snap without fingers??? 🤔
Lol Flourentine march in brass band (tenor horn, but..still a french horn player ) offbeats the whole piece with repeats. I breathe out to catch my breath more than I breathe in, lol . At least there are aome fun melodies in this! Hahah funny way to showcase this lol
As a high school French Horn player whose school does this song every year for our Christmas concert, this video makes me feel a little less alone in my agony and suffering.
The opening reminds me of Catacombs from Pines
It is now march and I have watched this at least once a week since it was posted
Great sense of humor. I played trombone and got yelled at a lot for making funny sounds with the slide. Best song for that was "The Stripper"
Das Waldhorn und das Cello singen zusammen besser als alle andere Musikinstrumente ❤
По сравнению с прошлыми записями у тебя стал гораздо лучше звук, усилился нижний регистр ❤💚🧡🥰😍

These individuals are remarkably talented.
