Kubota Swapped Willys Jeep 4000 Mile Update (I love this thing)
มุมมอง 173Kปีที่แล้ว
Today I was finally able to shoot an update video for my V2203 Kubota swap. I love it so far, and has been nothing but reliable. P.s all the squeaks and rattles you hear are my clutch pedal and my exhaust, the engine doesn't rattle at all.

i will never understand why people are filming theire faces when they are talking...show more of the car ! i dont wanna see your face when you are talking ! thx !
youtube recommended this and i have to say great project, nice results, great explanations for comments received, and you're authentic in your totality, I'm 67, retired in Hawaii, and Jeep is so always great, diesel swaps are sweet, who needs speed? I learned to drive in the snow and ice in Colorado, you've got a fun vehicle that's more reliable and affordable, EV is next
Thank you sir. I actually have a friend doing an EV swap to a Philippine Jeepney currently. If his works out well I don't doubt I will do one soon. Enjoy that weather out there, I hear Hawaii has an awesome offroad community. Dirt everyday did an episode there once, looked awesome.
@@BuyFixFlip there is a great local song "we drive on top da rok, don't need no pave road" !! lots of 4x4 high up, the lava flow is extreme off road
Hey dude, shaking on idle is exactly how diesel should be.
Exactly!
why not set the thing up for 3600 rpm
The electric fans better if you go in deep water as well You can turn it off. The mechanical fan you'll end up bending or breaking the blades.
We use those Kubota motors in the coal mine on everything and some have 50 to 60 thousand hrs and still running strong.
I was going to put a diesel in my 46 willys 20 years ago. Glad to see you do it .
I love the way it sounds
That’s hard on the jeep believe it or not spinning
That’s bad ass
Basically a Roxor
Better motor mounts would Help the shaking tremendously
354 Detroit Diesel would fit and will Last 4 ever.
This thing is sooooo effing cool!!!
John Deere has turned some of their compact tractor governors up to 3200 RPMs I think most of them run 27 to 2900 RPMs however I'm not sure where the safe Mark is at on your particular engine
I don't know about Tractor Supplies version of Kubota orange but original Kubota paint is notorious for not holding up so well she would look pretty cool with some Kubota stickers up on the side of the hood and on the rear corner's 😅
I saw you put 1 battery in the ol 7.3l and said "yeah it aint gonna start" they cant start without 2 batteriss lol, shit they can have 2 batteries and not start off the key if ones dead af and a good battery is there as i found out the other day in my 7.3l excursion 🤣🤣
Wow! Cool
If I had the place and skill, I would love to swap an engine like that in my Samurai. I like to play in the creek.
Very nicely done. Don't pay any mind to the TH-cam experts or armchair quarterbacks. It seems like a solid build, which will probably last a really long time. I've owned and abused Jeeps and Kubota tractors for 30 years, and both are awesome. Stay safe, and God bless
A reffer runs at about 1100 rpm so the hours arent really that bad, more like 12k hours.
Dang man that's freak'n killer!
thanks brother!
Great video! We have a new wood splitter on the way w. a Kubota diesel!
I like what you have done here, I would take that over a side by side any day of the week..... ...
Like your engine antifreeze temperature, that's cool as shiite!
I go to sor too
what hp and tq does that enginge make? ballpark
That’s a nice little rig!
My diesel tractors prefer a faster idle. I usually do most chores between 1200-1500 RPM, unless I’m using the PTO.
Man… I sold my first Wrangler to buy a Kubota for my land, grown up stuff 🥲 but this might be the best thing I’ve ever seen. There is nothing like the sound of a bota diesel.
Build one man!
@@BuyFixFlip dude I greatly appreciate the encouragement, and I definitely might be bugging you with some questions one day! Thank you for sharing this. Never knew it had been or could realistically be done.
run it between 900 and 1000rpm idle.
That"s a ton of hours!! LOL. Get a use road Isuzu diesel!
I would use a 4JB1T Isuzu turbo diesel, 2.8L, 4-cylinder! Much cheaper, more power, and lots of parts everywhere!!
Sounds like you could get away with running straight coolant in that thing
Dont care. Cant do a freaking 1100 rpm idle!
Yeah I feel you there.
That’s awesome! After replacing the flywheel in a 06 Jetta with the DSG Transmission and working on some of the other issues…my aspirations of a Jeep swap definitely won’t be using the VW TDI…so it was great to see a practical option! Thanks for sharing
Hey I’ve got a 51 with a kubota swap lol.
I’ve thought for years that it would be cool to power my sedan like a locomotive. My plan was to get a smallish tractor or generator diesel engine and two electric motors. The diesel engine would power a generator that would be connected to a battery bank the batteries/ generator would power the electric motors connected to the front wheels. Was planning on doing this to my old Saturn SL but it rusted away before I could get to work. Maybe a Kubota engine is the heart of my vision.
No idea why this showed up in my feed ha ha... great video, looks like a fun build! I was a heavy trailer mechanic for a long time, many times when working on refrigerated trailers I would wonder if you could swap one of these into a Suzuki Samurai. Had quite a few samurai in the past built for off road but always struggled with fuel delivery once you get lifted and locked etc. normaly ran 1.6/fuel injection but not much torque in those. This looks like a solid performer, thanks for the video!
The Perkins that was offered in the late 50.s and early 60’s was a better engine than the kabota. They used it also in a Massey 65
New to this. Looking at a MB kit from MD Juan. Trying to find an og engine is hard up in WI. This is a neat idea. Is there a forum or a group somewhere for this?
Kubota Swap Support Group, and Diesel Willys Support Group on facebook. Also I suggest SGI over MD Juan.
So cool
A lot of money spent just to say Diesel Powered Willys CJ.
Cheaper than paying to rebuild a flathead these days!
A lot of words just to say you can't afford it. 😂
Pos pollution generator.....
Thanks Greta!
My dad's old 3 cylinder 2 stroke kubota is still running after 40 - 50 years. It even has mechanical fuel injection.
2 stroke? I didnt know they had one.
@lefthandedleprechaun8702 ya if it was a 4 stroke, it wouldn't have any balance.
@@gearjammer3200There are many 3 cylinder 4 stroke diesels.
@brainwrongs ya I was wrong, it's actually a 4 stroke. It's a 27.5 hp 1.4L
@@gearjammer3200 ....I was just wonderin , i like 2 stroke diesels, i have a 2-71 on an Allis HD-7, shes a screamer
Being the reefer unit was never designed to idle the injectors may be over sized or base timing on injection pump might be different. Either way that’s one cool swap good work man.
I’ve gotten clicking from knockoff warn manual hubs on an ifs Toyota before. It was bizarre.
Do you think this will do in a 2005 ram 1500?
These jeeps are wicked but I would have some kinda roll bar ain’t no fun being pinned under couple thousand pounds
I go back and forth with the idea, we will see what the next jeep gets.
To put it into perspective, 100k hours would be 11 years and change if ya had the thing running 24/7 every day
These reefer units run 24/7 for weeks and months on end. Honestly, the average I see is at least 35k hours or so.
