@@ToastandJam52 thank, always appreciated your comments. Take care
Hi Alex, this video was a very nice enjoyment to watch, especially because I made the same hike and was coming back just last week from it. I also started in Akureyri but at the 19th September, but made it into the long valley south. I also startet with a lot of pain in my back and had to take heavy painkillers, just to move in or out of my tent. Even more difficult, my Backpack was 30kg, cause I had to be prepared for the possibility of having havy Fall Storms or even Winter Conditions and food for over 2 weeks. So after I passed by Laugafell Hut with its hot natural bath I kept following the "old original Sprengiasandsleid" ca. 20km north parallel of your Route ( so the original Version of the F26), that passed south and very near by Hofsjökull, and as I have done this Coast to Coast Hike several times in the last 22 years in different directions and seasons and know the F26 quit a bit as well as Nyidalur Hut. I had a big smile on my face, when you crossed the Bridge at Versalir Hut, cause I camped with my tent in the Wind Shadow ( lefthand in your video) of this bride just 3 weeks ago and when crowling out of the tent next morning, all the area was deep under fresh fallen Snow. So I also sticked to F26 and made a longer lunch pause at the same bride over the deep river cayon where you have camped for the night nearby the edge. I reached Laugar ( Landmannalaugar ) at 30th September and was the only Tent Hiker there. Only a few Rental Car Campers, also the Mountain Mall left 3 weeks before. I finished my Hike in Langidalur Hut ( where you had your Lunch on the wooden Balcony before crossing Krossa River. I was declared the Last and only Hiker on the total Laugavegur for this official Season 2024 by the Rangers in Landmannalaugar and Langidalur, cause when I reached the last Hut at the 5th October, it was closed the next day by the Mountain Rangers for this Year, and we all left the valley Langidalur. I finished my Hike there and got a Lift back to Reykjavik the same day. as I`m more then double the age then you are, so I left out the last 27km up to Fimmvörduhals and Skogar for the next time. All Hut on the Laugavegur ( Hrapntinnusker and Alftavatn where closed ) , but I was Lucky to have full entrance into the Alftavatn Hut and the weather was AWESOME the last 2-3 days, so I stayed there for two nights, with Gas Heating to dry my stuff for the first time since two weeks, and sitting in the Sun, with hot coffee, Rum and a good cuban cigar and just enjoyed myself as well as the total silance and sunshine.....no one there....just me ;-) So again, well done to you and this very enjoyable video you made. I could imagin how hard it was ,to put the camera up and in place and walk forth and back all the time to shoot all this scenes, especially when the weather was so bad and your body screamed in pain. Cheers Matthias
Really nice to ear you story. Thanks for that. I'm happy that the video did made you feel good. I've learned alot from this traverse, but man it was beautiful. Icelande it's one of the country that I need to visit again!!!

Are there any trail options that come directly to Canmore parking lot ?
You can go along the north shore of spray lakes from bryant creek warden outpost to canmore. I did that in the opposite direction in 2011. 40 km, mostly of road walking. Not recommended. Mt Shark parking lot is pretty busy, so is Smith-Dorian HWY. Best to somehow shuttle a car.
Kane is the best person to answer this one, I did the trip with him, and he live in the area, he know the parks better than me :)
👍👍👍
Merci
C'est très beau ... et c'est très bien filmé ! Un peu humide mais bien équipé ... 😉
Hi, Alex! This video helps a lot as I am going next month! Mind sharing your filming gear? Also, did it involve a lot of walking away and walking back to the camera? Thanks
Thank you for you comments :) Yeah I have a Sony A7C Sirui carbon tripod Rode microphone Tamron lens 17-28 DJI mini 3 pro drone And too many batteries 😅
Also yeah, alot of back and forth for the camera
How long is the hike?
65km
Thank you for all the information (I watched your video with English subtitles) 😀 I will start the Crossing in 2 weeks, but I will take more time than you, I will follow the suggested 11 days itinerary plus one "flexible" day. Same than you I wish I could do it all just by walking and not depend on bus or hitchhiking at some places. The taxi in the beginning really sucks, I hoped there would be a bus, but it is not running during school holidays it seems. So I will have to add an expensive taxi to my list of expenses... However, I feel excited, let's see how it goes, video will come on my channel 😁
Have a good trip 🙂. 11 days is more reasonable ahahahah😅. Yeah the hitchhiking suck, but everything else is so good that you forgot about it . Have a good. Send me your video when it's done :)
Nice footage! We’re doing the trek in Sept. A bit backward the first day Chamonix to Lac Blanc as a day hike then officially starting day 1 counter clockwise from Les Houches the next day thru to Argentiere. We will be missing the section from Tre le champ to Lac Blanc at the end, if that makes sense. Are we missing out much here, scenery wise?
It's not the part that your gonna miss the most, but there still some good views on Chamonix and Mont Blanc. Its alot of way up. Actually your gonna miss the ladder. It's a iconic part on the TMB
Absolutely fantastic! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you 🙂
In August I am attempting the "longer" crossing of Lofoten. Wish me luck, start will be in Reine, end will be in Narvik. Not a speed game nevertheless, first I have to figure out if it's even possible!...
I did think that it's possible. Good luck to you . Have a good trip 🙂
The best video I’ve watched on the West Highland Way. Thank You. My husband is going soon.
Thank you so much 🙏 Much appreciated
Hi Alex, Thanks so much for this very nice video. I just want to ask how difficult is the hike up the hill from Forsfjorden port going to Tennesvatnet. I am planning to do this trek next month, and I am looking at the map, and that part looks very intimidating, which makes me worry I might not be able to do it. Thanks so much!
It's a steep way up, but it's not long. And after the way up it's easy, big plateau with alpine lake :) . Feel free to ask if you have other questions
Merci Alex. Excellente vidéo et récap à la fin. Ca me sera très utile pour mon tmb début août. Je le ferai aussi en bivouac donc ça me rassure qu'on a des options pour poser notre tente en italie et suisse.
