Mega Compilation, Vol 1. Plus a Big Announcement!
I’ve fallen behind on producing documentaries, so I’ve put together this “mega collection” (ok, it’s only 20, lol) of relatively random light airplanes, spanning across several decades. Most of these have been pulled from posts I posted on Instagram over the years. These are rare machines (most of them at least). How many do you know?
Oh yeah, and make sure to watch the end of the video, I’ve got a big channel announcement to make! 2025 goals, baby.

The Helio Courier is a brute of a STOL plane with a very rich history, dating back to the post-war era. Loved by both military and civilian operators, the Courier required a skillful pilot to master, but in the hands of an experienced aviator, could perform magic on runways and in the air. Now approaching nearly 75 years since its birth, the Courier is slowly becoming a relic and sadly, its num...
Your Very Own Miniature Fighter Plane

The Globe / Temco Swift is considered by many as the ultimate personal airplane. It’s not blazingly fast nor efficient. Not a STOL machine either, and for the unprepared pilot, can be a bit challenging to fly. But there are those who appreciate such challenges, and mastery of this little plane’s handling rewards its operators with a feeling of being one with the machine. Not to mention its WWII...

A favourite of mine now for many years. Good to see it getting some love.
My pleasure, and thanks for watching!
What a story!!!🎉
Ukraine needs to build a few thousands of these and make them autonomous😂
This gent is a genius.
He knew a thing or two!
If you want to do a video about the Powers Bashforth Minimaster, let me know. We have the prototype in our hanger
HELL YEAH! I Love the baby skymaster! And lack of media (video, photos) is what's stopped me from doing anything on it. Please do! Send to esdfiles@gmail.com
Would be great if this got a mass produced ''copy'' in the West, the price would be quite low i imagine. It wouldn't be that expensive to convert it to modern standards and i imagine a price of 100 000 to 150 000€ could be adequate.
Great idea but insurance + FAA certification will ensure that an extra "0" is added to your price projections.
@@aircraftadventures-vids Hey, even with an extra 0 it would be quite competitive
-this plane looks like it's built to fly underwater, i clicked on this vid thinking it might be a sub
Lol, I can actually see that. Looks like a sea ray, sort of
Delta wings are inefficient. The only reason for fighter jets to use it, is because to overcome the flow separation/sonic shock buildup at supersonic speeds. At slow speeds delta makes for very little sense.
You have to take into context the timeframe this was designed and built, it's easy to judge with the ~70 years we have as a time and experience advantage of these early designers. And you may be right (plus the market, since we don't see airports flooded with mini deltas). But back in those days it was trial and error - and if there's still interest in the design today, they got something right at least...it strikes a chord with certain pilots.
When it comes to really STOL There is only one Aircraft and there is nothing to outperform it and that Aircraft is The Super Cub.
not knocking the Cub, but can it carry 6?
@@aircraftadventures-vids I'm afraid that's a drawback I must admit but the only one I can think of.
Where can you get a drawing design kit
There's no kit but you can still obtain drawings. See the description of the video and write to the email listed.
The skypup is based for not having ailerons. They literally only exist for crosswinds otherwise kick the rudder and let the plane naturally find its stability
Yeah thats why it reminds me of real simple model planes. I had an r/c supercub and it was also rudder-only (could only fly on no-wind days)
Oh so many new types that I newer heard before. Thanks. From Finland.
Hey my pleasure! Got a tons more to cover, stay tuned!
Piaggio is the parent company of Vespa, the famous Italian scooter brand. They also make scooters under their own brand. Today they still sell those scooter brands as well as Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, and Derbi motorcycles
I didn't know they owned Guzzi! I'm dreaming of buying a Moto Guzzi Mandello one day, loll
Летающая картошечка)
KSI ahh plane
Rag and tube designs were outdated? Tell that to Yakovlev who introduced the Yak 18T in 1976.
We're talking about post-war in the US. Not USSR 1976 (the 18t is one of my favorite 4-seaters by the way)
I'll bet you I HAVE heard of them, and even seen a couple ! I'm an 74 yr old Australian, and watched one cropdusting many years ago, and was in Coober Pedy during the filming of the Mad Max movie. I think that some of the vehicles cobbled together by local opal miners for the film were just as interesting !
Is that right? About the local miners and the cars? That's a cool facet I didn't know about. That's another part of the movie I love...the crazy junkyard vehicles!
We'll get to that in a moment. We'll get to that in a moment. We'll get to that in a moment.
Well, we did, didn't we?
Had never seen or heard of any of these. Thank you.
thanks for watching!
Cessna 150. Barely has enough power to keep itself in the air.
Have a friend who rebuilt a Buhl Bullpup with a three cylinder radial engine. Engine was a Sielky or something like that. Awesome budget aircraft for the 20's.
The Bullpup is a really nice design, a little bit like a Fly Baby (who knows maybe the Bull Pup inspired the fly baby??)
It's a Szekely pronounced shakely
This is the exact opposite of a sr-71😂
The slats remind me of the very first plane I flew, a Morane-Saulnier MS880B Rallye (nicknamed the "tin parachute").
I don't know why, I like the funky-looking Rallye!
Wow, sabía del islander B26 pero esto 😮..!!!!!!
Honestly these things are hidden gems that need to be modernised and applied to so many fields that would benefit from using these bad boys, especially since they don't look like something that would be too expensive or hard to repair or maintain
Kamov helicopters are not only unique looking but pretty good at their job even as attack helicopters like the Ka-52 which proved itself in a modern conflict facing modern enemy forces!
When I was a kid, my brother and I would run to see this little helicopter flying low over the fields.
now I want an aerovan
I love this thing! I used to have a book with all sorts of helicopters in it, and this was one of my favorites, just because the silo looked goofy
HAHAHAHA "Uncomfortable fake neck scratch" I love this channel.
Soon that neck scratch won’t be so uncomfortable! See ya at osh or sun n fun
Well done! I'm looking forward to what's in store.
Thank you!
Cool . Please stay away from BOTS.
Fun to see these obscure birds; glad to see at least a few are still airworthy...I also am drawn to the "rare and obscure" makes/models. Closest I've gotten to any of them is some seat-time in a 1948 Ercoupe, a delightful plane to fly... Best wishes for the new format for 2025!
Thank you! My dad owned an Ercoupe (sadly, long before I came into his world, lol)
I have flown the Fuji i 13:54 n the '70s. It was easy to fly but it was a bit sluggish during aerobatics, only basic manoeuvres really
I like the way it looks actually.
This channel deserves WAY more attention and subs. Comment for engagement!!
Hey, much appreciated!
The Stits Fly Baby would be a good choice.
That one deserves to be in "tiny" plane category.
Very nice video. I would have liked it not to have moved so quick on the pictures
Yeah hard to make everyone happy. I've complaints everything moves too slowly. That being said, you CAN slow down the video in your settings.
Now this is what I'm here for.
Thanks for watching!
Small, rare and unusual airplanes seem to much more interesting to me, than fighter jets. It is so much more fun to see what someone with a lot of passion and very little money can achieve!
Agree! Thanks for watching!
0:44 I obsessed over finding the location of this aerial photo and found it between Loon Point Beach and Summerland Beach in Summerland, California.

Looking forward to the new format for '25 Richard. You know me and my taste for eclectic aircraft and I can think of many aircraft , that I've been collecting photos of for years, that I would love to see on your channel. Good luck sir!
Hey Brad, appreciate it! It's baby steps for sure, but hoping to make some good progress and keep growing the channel. See you at Osh2025!
@@aircraftadventures-vids Looking forward to it!
Hello author, a little correction: Kamov was of Ukrainian heritage, and the Ka-26 owes much to Ukrainian engineers and facilities. Key components for Soviet aviation, including helicopters, were produced in Ukraine, especially at Motor Sich in Zaporizhzhia. While the USSR centralized projects in Moscow, Ukraine's contributions were vital to these successes. The Ka-26 is a great example of Ukrainian innovation within the Soviet system. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
I stand corrected then! I was under impression it was both russian designed AND produced
Thank you for mentioning the Argentine Ranquel! 🇦🇷🩵🤍💛🤍🩵
I flew the Dinfia 46 Ranquel towing gliders. It’s a very good plane with a 180hp Lycoming.
Nice! If I'm not mistake the Aero Boero was based on it, no?
The Aero Boero that I also flew is of the same type of aircraft but it was designed by a private factory and the Ranquel by the Argentine national state.
Get s'more dampening, it's getting closer but a muffled room reverb is still very much there. Otherwise? Lovely concept! Best of luck!
Duuude...did you see how many pieces of cheap foam I've got behind me? 😂 Yeah for real it's pretty muffled. I'm hoping an exert can help me work around this issue. But tx for the encouragement!
Excellent video after 60 years in the aviation industry most were unknown to me.
Mission accomplished! I've got plenty more of where those came from. I just would like to organize it a bit more (categorize them better)
Great vid! As feedback, I would say turn the music volume down a couple clicks.
Gotcha! Yeah it's tough, some hate it but it's a way to make my monotonous voice a little less tedious to listen to (or at least, to me)
I agree--all book/video are long--than one side---show´s new´s (dash old)-resolution´s--GREAT CLIP-I´m boring -LIKEYOU
??
There are many of them in Hungary (and not only in museums). They are currently out of use (but in ready-to-work condition, packed), because it has been impossible to get new, factory fiberglass rotor blades for years due to the Russian-Ukrainian war. The rotor blades of most machines have expired. (They spray instead with drones in small areas, and in larger areas with larger helicopters or airplanes)
Is that right? I thought they were still active in Hungary. Damn, maybe they should sell some over here to the west! Imagine dropping into an airshow with one.
@@aircraftadventures-vids We are running out of pilots and experts (those who know the ka26 are already 60+ years old), and as long as there was enough of the rotor (the Russians make it, but it is not appropriate to buy helicopter parts from a country at war), it was treated as a working, usable museum object. You will find many Hungarian videos, they are taken out of the shed in the morning, assembled by a larger team of friends, calibrated, checked, and they go out with it for 1-2 hours of work...
