Why she is disliked is not even remotely complicated (hint: It has nothing to do with her looks). "I want what I want, because I want it, and will do anything to get it," is not a character motivation that will *ever* inspire appreciation or admiration in the eyes of a single human or society at large. Rachel strives-not for an ideal, a greater good, a positive change, or another person/people-but only for HERSELF, and herself alone, and ungratefully uses others, and takes any action, in the process of that pursuit. These are her choices, not a "woe-is-me," tale of sympathy to lament. "It wasn't me, it's where I grew up, how this tower is built, it's the system." No, it's you. In fact, a lot of people grew up there, and they didn't turn out to be evil like her at all. Rachel is a delusional, inauthentic, fraud, fake actress who has no skills outside of lying, cheating and manipulation. She has no capacity for empathy, sympathy, or capability for other people. She has no ability of making her dreams come true without help. Even when she get's help, she doesn't even appreciate it, or even mark it as luck-instead she believes she deserves it, or has earned it. What's even more frustrating is that she's being hard carried on literally every floor, I surprised her feet ever touched the ground before she got past Zahard to the top. Everything about her character is gross. "Other characters are also bad," is not a justification for deplorable behavior, murder, selfishness, lying, cheating, stealing, jealousy, manipulation, and betrayal. It's just an excuse people use to try to shift the blame. Yes there are lots of bad people in Tower of God. Rachel is one of them, and she has done PLENTY, wrong. Excusing her character as "just the product of a system," removes any agency of accountability or responsibility we incur in the cause and effect of the actions we take, and people we are. Championing this kind of behavior is dangerous for society. Is this how you want all your friends to act? Do you want to live your life looking over your shoulder not being able to trust the people who claim to be the closest to you in fear of a knife between your shoulder blades? That is not a world I would like to inhabit, so people like Rachel need to be punished for their behavior. Otherwise they will continue to act that way if they keep getting away with it. Her actions are her CHOICE, not a product of some arbitrary system. There are still good people in Tower of God, she CHOSE not to be one of them. As for White: No one is under an assertions that White is a good guy. We knew from the beginning he wasn't, so did all of the characters in the story. In fact, the reason white is liked he because he takes responsibility, accountability and is honest about who he is. Funny thing about humanity, we'll like a person, even if they are a killer, more if they're honest about who they are-Rachel is not even that. Ultimately White dies for his deeds. So if you logically think bad things should happen to bad people, we are in agreement, and we should both revel in Rachel's demise. But the way this story is going SIU is going to let her win, and give here what she wants, and I find that gross. To out last everyone by lying, cheating, betraying and manipulating everyone. It'll be sad to have spent this many years with a story that celebrates that kind of behavior.

Bams destiny was higher than Rachel's. He was destined to essentially free the tower and enter 135 and onward, maybe the top. Rachel would hit 134 and thats it, at best a princess maybe. Anyone and everyone should have dropped her, but that crippled game was on point. Which in my opinion was her first true evil act. It ain't right...but she was like a speed bump that sticks to the tires and breaks an axel. 8/10 Villian. Loved to hate her.

A year late to this amazing video. I loved it. I really did not realize how crazy the anti rachel crowd is before reading these comments. Does anyone know the avg TOG audience age? Im legitimately concerned for the mental health of these people. A lot of people are projecting their insecurities onto her and refusing to engage with the subtext of the work.

Makima is very evil what are you on and the consequences of her victory would have been extremely negative. She would have completely negated free will though her love interest goal was to get with chainsaw man she still have the goal innate to her being to control devil to control all of humanity all free will would be gone this was the primary reason Denji gather the resolve and need to destory her he asked her if there would still be bad movies and she said no she would control everything. If Makima was just killing denji to save millions and then that is it I would have a lot less of an issue with her it her the destruction of free will that is much more of an issue then that.
