The Meri Crew
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 ส.ค. 2018
The Meri Crew: Travel adventure on the high seas, islands, bays, rivers, etc. with Doug, Mj and our family and friends aboard Sailing Vessel Frolic, our new sailing catamaran. We have moved on from our beloved 41' sailboat, Meri, but are still cruising to new places and experiencing new things. For 2024 we will finish up the Eastern Caribbean. Then maybe head north to Nova Scotia or Newfoundland again in the summer, or if things go well we may sail all the way around Newfoundland. All plans right now are still very loose because, well that is just how we like to travel and live. There are so many places near and far we have not been yet.
Sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, yoga, gunk holing, cooking, kiteboarding, windsurfing and wing foiling are staples while we are aboard Frolic. Other times we love water skiing, snowboarding and snow skiing, flying, knitting and other stuff.

Chillin in Maine, 2024
We made our third trip to the Maine coast this summer and visited some new spots as well as old favorites. I have to admit we are a bit burned out on producing videos so this is it for the whole summer. We hope you enjoy it.

The Spanish Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico
มุมมอง 3317 หลายเดือนก่อน
We make the short sail from St. Thomas to Culebra, leaving the USVI and entering the Spanish Virgin Islands. We really enjoyed visiting both Culebra and Vieques, they both have a very laid back feel. From Vieques it was another short sail to Puerto Rico where we visited San Juan and spent time cruising the south coast.
Cruising the USVI
มุมมอง 1038 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a shorter video. We weren't planning to make a video about the USVI but we were asked, and felt we maybe had enough material. Hope you enjoy it. We spent about three weeks and found we LOVED St. John's. We would like to spend some more time in St. Croix to explore it further - a dental emergency cut our time there short.
St Barths
มุมมอง 5549 หลายเดือนก่อน
We make a quick stop at St Barths and check out the beaches and more. While St. Barth's is often referred to as the Beverly Hills of the Caribbean, and it does have the upscale shopping and dining to match, there is a lot more to this small island. #SailingStBarths #CruisingStBarths
Nevis and St Kitts
มุมมอง 1169 หลายเดือนก่อน
We visit two more of "The Islands that touch The Clouds", Nevis and St. Kitts. An enjoyable week and a half of touring about, above and below the water! #SailingNevis #SailingStKitts #CruisingStKittsNevis
Montserrat - under the volcano!
มุมมอง 1.1K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
We had a quick visit to the island of Montserrat. This island's character was greatly changed by the eruptions of the Soufrière Hills volcano between1996 and 2010. #SailingMontserrat #CruisingMontserrat
Our favorite Caribbean Island? Dominica 2024
มุมมอง 2.6K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
We are back in Dominica, The Nature Island, for several weeks. We really love this island - the people, the island itself and the surrounding sea! Here is a short video to share a bit of it with you. #Dominica #SailingDominica #CruisingDominica
The Grenadines 2023
มุมมอง 277ปีที่แล้ว
The Grenadines are a group of small islands between St. Vincent and Grenada, and are one of our favorite parts of the Caribbean. We spent time here in the spring so this fall we hit a few of our favorite spots enjoying the early part of our fall/winter season. #TheGrenadines #SailingTheGrenadines #CruisingTheGrenadines
Grenada Fall 2023
มุมมอง 300ปีที่แล้ว
We are excited to be starting a new season in the Southeast Caribbean. Frolic is looking good after 4 months on the hard in Trinidad and getting her back in the water and us aboard has us feeling at home again. Grenada is a terrific island to start another winter in the islands. Follow our boat on NOFOREIGNLAND: www.noforeignland.com/boat/5955753586196480 #grenada #sallinggrenada #cruisinggrenada
Through-hiking the Colorado Trail

Drew had a five week adventure through-hiking the Colorado Trail. The scenery is breathtaking and we figured we'd share the video on our channel.
Tobago Cays Shark Rescue
มุมมอง 255ปีที่แล้ว
We visit the Tobago Cays, a beautiful set of small islands and coral reefs. The sea life is pretty amazing. Beautiful. While we are there we have a small adventure releasing a trapped shark from an illegal fish trap. #sharkrescue #tobagocays
Little French Islands
มุมมอง 326ปีที่แล้ว
The French Island of Guadeloupe has several smaller islands associated with it. Previously we visited the island group called The Saintes. This time we are visiting two small uninhabited islands that make up a marine preserve known as Isles de la Petite Terre and the island of Marie-Galante which has a lot of historical sites as well as some lovely people. Both are a bit out of the way but we h...
Martinique
มุมมอง 270ปีที่แล้ว
Martinique is one of the French West Indies. It is an island in the Eastern Caribbean that is to this day part of France. We enjoy spending time in the big city of Fort de France as well as smaller communities and rural areas. #SailingMartinique #CruisingMartinique
Great video! My wife and I just returned to Wyoming from Cape Breton last week. It is such a special place.
We agree. We wish we had had more time to spend there. Unfortunately we caught Covid - LOL
It's great fun to share your adventure!
Thanks Ken!
We anchored there about a decade ago and were really bummed to see how dead the reefs were. The reef north of the island had giant [dead] elkhorn structures the size of oak trees, but no life anywhere. It's worth mentioning that we hung out with some fishermen at Long Island earlier who had told us everyone was going bust because of the extensive over-fishing. Caribbean queen conch is on the endangered list, the sponges were long ago scraped clean, and most people's jaws hit the floor when they hear that the Bahamas used to have seals-- until they went extinct for lamp oil. It's time to give the animals a break, before we kill it all.
I lived in Newfoundland for 6 years (1973 - '79) on the Burin Peninsula (east of here, in this video), and I never had any idea that the south coast was this gorgeous!
Awesome
Thanks!
💕Wow💜💜💜💗💗💗💗💗💗
Uh, thanks!
Too bad you missed the bioluminescent bay on Vieques. The island was a filming site for the 1963 movie "Lord of the Flies". Esperanza is a nice tourist town and had an interesting 1900 center courtyard manor house resort called Casa Del Frances, which burned down 20yrs ago unfortunately. Up until 20 yrs ago, ammunition storage on west end of island, bombing range on east 1/3 of island and people lived in the center of island
The phase of the moon was poor to visit the bioluminescent bay at Vieques, but we did visit the one near La Parguera. It was quite amazing but very difficult for us to capture on camera so we did not include it in our video. Esperanza was very quiet the day we were there, but overall we really liked Vieques.
I saw a glimpse of Redonda Island in the background towards the finish of the video.
That's right. We sailed past "the kingdom of Redonda"!
@@TheMeriCrew Nice!
Nice cat. The sq ft comparison was wildly off. You either have the sq footage of you don’t. There is no such thing as “lives like”
great Channel - Excellent content. Looking forward to more.
Much appreciated!
Wild cruising!
It is one of our favorite cruising grounds!
We are really enjoying these journeys of exploration with the Meri Crew. You have a fabulous channel here Doug and Marjorie, and we have signed up as crew for all your adventures by hitting your Subscribe button 👍👍
Thanks. Your feedback helps keep us going! We took a short break but will have a new video out in a week or two.
@@TheMeriCrew Good to know. Look forward to seeing that 👍
Beautifully filmed and edited, with a great addition of relevant facts that put your images and subject into context.
We really enjoyed our short time in Montserrat. Glad you enjoyed the video!
A really enjoyable video from the sunrise onwards. The scenery reminds us so much of our home country of Scotland. Those fjord images you captured are spectacular, and we hope more people see and enjoy them as we have. So perhaps add some hashtags to your video descriptions that will help people searching for this type of content, to find you here. Examples: #sailing #sailingnewfoundland Just a kindly suggestion. We hope it helps.
Glad you enjoyed it. We are really hoping to get back to Newfoundland this summer.
If you point a camera at a seascape, we will tune in and watch that channel for sure....or should that be for shore 🤔😄 And you guys are also filming all kinds of landscapes and nature, so we are already loving your work, and this is only the first video we've watched!
Thanks Brits! We do these videos just for family and friends, but we don't mind sharing them with whomever might be interested. It is fun to hear when other people enjoy them.
I'm hoping to hike this, this summer. 👍 Thanks!
Have a great trip!
Beautiful,wow!
Glad you like it!
Really like your videos! Thanks!
Thanks Dave. We appreciate you saying so!
Good film 👍🏻, big hug from Antigua. ULTREIA
Hey Jamie. Great to hear from you!
Thanks for the great video
Our pleasure!
Great Video - enjoyed your views for St Barths.
Many thanks!
Wonderful stuff.
Thanks Jay!
Best place on planet earth. Garden of eden
Thanks John. It is our favorite in the Caribbean!
@@TheMeriCrew great choice

Beautiful Stuff ❤
Good vid.
Thanks!
Great video! I'll have it make it out to the Grenadines one day. . .
Hi , I just watched this and another Newfoundland video and became an instant subscriber, I am in Newfoundland and live in the interior now but originally I came from the south coast area and actually my father was born in McCallum that you visited. Looking forward to watching more of your videos
Awesome! Thank you!
Great Video miss you guys!! Can't believe we haven't seen you since Nova Scotia!!!🎉😂
Fingers crossed some time in the next year or so our paths will cross again 👍
Big up Trinidad and Tobago. Blessings!
👍
Thank you for sharing!
👍
Love the hand drawing at the introduction! Glad to hear you like the boat.
Thanks. Wish I could claim to have drawn it but it is actually a photo filter effect.
@@TheMeriCrew Nope I drew it years ago. I was in Argentina when 4441 was getting commissioned. That is why there are no stanchions. I used to own Two Fish. Now I own a racy mono hull.
@@svcyclops My apologies. I've forgotten where I got it. I wonder where I found it. It looks similar to a video filter I use occasionally so I assumed that is where it came from. Credit due to you!
@@TheMeriCrew I hope we cross paths some day. If you pass Stuart FL drop me a line or NYC.
Newfoundland is losing its culture heritage and way of life because of the influx on immigrants who are changing the once great culture to suit their shithole from wence they came...its slowly fading away...never to return...what a shame eh...
I am from hare bay and i dont think you are in hare bay lol, ive spent plenty of days out in boat and i dont recognize any of these areas lol but i do believe you are near harbor breton
We have noticed in our travels that place names associated with the water are frequently duplicated. For example I know there is a Hare Bay on the east side of Newfoundland near Gambo. Perhaps that is the Hare Bay you know. The Hare Bay we were in is on the southwest coast. It is named Hare Bay on the marine charts but is unnamed on Google Maps. There may even be more than two Hare Bays in Newfoundland - that wouldn't be too surprising.
Good day what year is it?
Frolic is a 2014 Antares 44i.
I’m thinking about if I should carry a inflatable boat with my RV to Newfoundland ? Is there any public boats launch available? Thanks? Boats launch friendly for tourists?
Good question. We didn't really see any though a few come up on Google.
I am from newfoundland, it all depends where you plan on traveling really, but for the most part, there are plenty of boat launches here but be very careful of pot holes in small communities. I hope you have fun when you arrive :) it truly is a beautiful place
Did you deal with any snow going over Georgia pass?
I didnt get there until about mid-July, so the snow was pretty much all gone by then
Wow, looks like an amazing trip Drew!
Hey Drew! Someone sent me the link to this! I lost all my contacts when I dropped my phone in a creek! Shoot me a text!
It's Jennifer McMahon
At .36 behind your wife's head the cave if you go back would ever check it out ?
Maybe! Conditions would have to be right as it could be difficult to land ashore there. The wall looks near vertical and I see a waves breaking there at 0:30 and 0:37.
@TheMeriCrew that would be coolest maybe send a drone in first?
Fantastic! ❤❤❤
Thanks!
Beautiful remembrance when I was in Marie-Galante few years back... Thank you 😍
So glad!
I’m spending a week there in May. Will be my first time there I’m so excited.
I hope you have an awesome time.
@The Meri Crew We booked a hotel that's in the middle of nowhere not knowing it was an hour+ from any guided tours so we will have to rent a car but it's ok just means we will get to see more of the island. A little nervous to drive in a place i don't know though. It is my 1 year cancer free celebration vacation.
@@SarahBlueJ Congratulations on your milestone!!!
Love it!
Thanks!!
Thanks for sharing. ❤️🇩🇲
Thanks for watching!
Really nice interior. It looks very warm and comfortable.
We are very happy with the more traditional yacht interior. Fiberglass is easy to clean but doesn't have the warmth of home.
Cool video - enjoy
Thanks. We are enjoying our time in the Caribbean and it Is hard to make time to produce videos. Glad you liked it 👍
What time of year were you there. It's beautiful
This was the end of July and beginning of August
This looks like a very cool island
It has a vibe all its own!
