Yea very doable. Just need at least 6 kids, 14 neighbors, tractor and operator, roller compactor, 35 tons of hot asphalt and a pre prepped surface. Totaling only about 300 hours of combined labor time
You got another seam on seam.!!😮... your top row & the 2nd from the top row, 2 shingles in from the right side of patch.. sure it'll be fine between, nothing a little exterior caulking & then fresh paint can't hide..looks great!!
Dude freakin awesome, looks great! I did my driveway in stamped concrete, but have another property that needs a new driveway an I’ve been thinking of paving myself! Thanks for showing us it can be done!
Can't explain it but you exhibit so many genuine leadership qualities, Even the kids when, they were shovelling they were working in view and direction of you.
Great work! I've never seen that Dasco Shingle Ripper before; looks like it's discontinued. Doing a pretty big cedar shake job and although I haven't needed to pull out any... I know it's just a matter of time 😅
I command you for doing such a back breaking job. But from financial point of view. You said you did it for $4000 (half price of the contractor’s price). Does this include the old roller and the tractor you are using ? I thinking has been that if I pay the contract fee grand more it saves me and several family members back breaking work. Plus I can spend that time making money at my regular work. Plus I get a better quality work than if I was to do it.
Our driveway is 10' wide by 780' long. In 2018 I got a quote of $30,000 to redo our existing asphalt driveway. In 2024 that quote jumped to $90,000. Yeah, F-that. I'll be doing it myself. Even if I have to work in sections.

To fuckin ugly job 😂
Great job
And his HOA made him rip it all out the next day.
That’s not an expensive quote. Your driveway is pretty large.
How is it holding up
Wow. That is awesome!

This is a time lapse not a DIY
This is a DIY time lapse
sheet flow over the driveway.
How much did the hot asphalt delivery cost??
DIY, do it yall self... with 8 extra people and heavy equipment
Still cheaper than hiring an actual asphalt company.
I would like to see what it looks like today.
What a legend this guy is. Just paving his own driveway and creating children. Well done dude

They did a GREAT JOB!
You can see all the bumps. Just drive fast on it and see if its bumpy.
You don't drive fast on a driveway. They are made for parking.
Kids on the scooter was not necessary info. Dude probably rode a scooter at one time.
Looks great.
How much did the roller cost?

But you would miss out on the quality family memory making. This is an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Love how the family and even the neighbors came together for the project.
