What is crazy to me is that anything over a mid level package is leather now but in the 80’s a lot of luxury cars had velour seats. I miss velour it was so comfortable.
For the Mark VI 2 door, Ford should have done something to the greenhouse to make it more sleek. Cut the roof height by a few inches and slope the windshield and back light like the Mark V. Sacrifice some space for visuals. The thing looked like a brick! The interiors were awesome, however.
I had a 1973 model with the moonroof and silver leather seats, 8 track tape and the headlamps with automatic dimmer switch. They called it the silver edition. I think maybe there was a gold edition too?
Exactly like the one I had, except mine had the full grain leather bucket seats with the rear leather. Poor thing had a bad transmission and the last place she was last parked was the local salvage yard

Actually there was no Silver Luxury Group option any more in 1976. So just an optioned up Silver Mark IV. Shame they didn't get the landau roof. Never liked the full vinyl top for 75 and 76.

As many have pointed out, the car is not a Cartier edition. But it does have the rare Versailles option, a crushed velour interior with a floating pillow design available in Dark Red, Medium Blue, Jade or Tan. Virtually every surface was covered in the fabric: headliner, door panels, rear quarter trim panels and interior roof moldings.
This is not a Cartier edition of the 1976 Lincoln Continental Mark IV. 1- there is not the scripted word, Cartier in the opera windows.2- Cartier edition always had a Landau vinyl top with chrome that wrapped from the bottom of the power vent window, to the rear of the rear side window, up to cross over the roof, to stop at the seam of the opposite side. They may gave made some with the full vinyl top - yet not many if they did. The interior was 100% dove grey leather in color, and not the metallic silver leather, nor red. The tires sported a broader white wall. These are just exterior features. The dove grey was a very classical color, chosen by the French designer, Cartier, himself.
My Dad bought a ‘59 caddy new. I passed my driving test in it. Longer than this actually. Lots more chrome. A more tasteful interior. So I know what it’s like to live with one of these needlessly huge cars. This model, especially, has a lot of tacked on stuff to make it appear luxurious and high end. Large panel gaps, pieces that appear to fit loosely. A plastic grille. Probably has a wimpy 120 hp engine.
That car is a fine example of a bygone era-the time when luxury meant smooth, comfortable cars with Boulevard Ride. Driving an Electra was an accomplishment that demonstrated that a motorist enjoyed the finer things in life and appreciated a stately, refined motorcar. This car is truly an icon of a great era for American luxury cars.

Very mint and rare 2dr park ave powered by an Oldsmobile 307 a true jem. This was the pinnicle of luxury cars back then and it stood the test of time
