Looking back at it, yes i could of. It felt a bit awkward to do that at the time. Live and learn from an experiences like this.

Sounds like a false neutral/electronics problem. Very common on the sc77 fireblade, i had one from 0 to 25k miles and used to get them all the time, Paul Kingsburgh from KCS tuning can fix these issues.
