    Does it feel really heavy at slow speeds/in a garage/traffic light? I love the looks of the bike but I really worry it'd be too heavy for be as a beginner rider

    • @moto_cal
      @moto_cal 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question. In my opinion, no. This isn't a particularly heavy bike, nor is it a light bike. In my opinion, even truly heavy bikes dont feel heavy as soon as you are rolling even at slow speeds. The interceptor is easy to move around off the stand as well as it doesn't have awkward bulky fairings etc. The only correct answer is to arrange a test ride and see how you feel.

    You're so right. All the debating and energy spent thinking about hp and torque is for the 1% of the time you ride at peak power curve and let's face it, that's some straight line overtake on a dual carriage way for most people

      Hi there mate. Glad you found it and enjoyed it. Absolutely - would love to see the BSA in the flesh. If it helps...if I was buying another bike today without any time to think about it, I think I'd buy an interceptor again. I'm now riding a Himalayan (which belongs to my Dad) and will be spending the summer test riding EVERYTHING. I love the look of the Shotgun 650 too though. Hoping to get more videos up starting this week and regularly from now on. Take it easy!

      Thanks for taking the time to watch mate. This was actually a wee while ago now and I did a follow up video shortly after. The relays from hitchcocks did the trick and the bike was phenomenal after that. I done some customising (made a few videos of that too) and then sold it to buy something capable of proper touring, but also the daily commute - a Tiger 1200. However, after zero tours and only a couple of days a month commuting, I sold it too! Now riding a Himalayan which belongs to my Dad and taking a slow and steady approach to shopping for my next bike! I checked out your channel. Nice stuff. Subbed.

    I just received my cover, in black suede and it looks very good, especially for the price! Mine was very difficult to fit and get the final corner on evenly, but it did go on after a bit of pulling for an hour, probably stretching the material a bit. It’s on now and looks good, now will need to go for a ride and see any further benefits! My stock seat is not comfortable,but also not the brick a lot of people think it is and has improved the more it’s used, either that or my arse has improved!😂

    An excellent video. Respectfully put together with no cussing etc. I was probably their biggest critic before we bought two. My wife and I travel extensively. We've ridden many miles and various locations. Both of us have been riding since we were kids. Now both Senior age lol, and still riding, our two Himi's are awaiting our return to the US were they are stored to do Central America next year. This year, its India on Himi's. Now, I'm a convert although between us, we still have a Ducati, BMW and two Harleys in the stable at home. Thanks again. Wishing you well. Yiur report was both true and accurate. One of the best reviews I've seen yet, thanks. Actually, it is the best, a really good experienced riders perspective. The only other ones really of note are from Stuart Fillingham. There are a lot of reviews on this bike but they are generally appalling. Even the MCN review is by someone who admits it is his first bigger bike. Many of the others appear to be by people who want to see how much they can spend on upgrades before getting out for a ride. Others are "First Impressions...", And then there's all the clickbait ones...... "five things I hate", "what Enfield got wrong" etc etc. The way a lot of reviews go you'd think you need to upgrade forks, shocks, seat, tyres and exhaust before even getting off the driveway. You seem to be running completely stock even down to the CEAT tyres and yet are enjoying the experience hugely. This gives me much more confidence to just go for it and upgrade as and when I find something lacking. My current bike is a Ducati Monster, which is great in many/most ways but I fancy something more suited to carrying luggage for touring, and more forgiving (I'm still getting used to the - for me - overly powerful front braking) and yes looking like the kind of bike I remember is also a plus. In fact something closer to my old '79 Bonnie, the bike that was so universally good I stopped needing to look for what might be "better". This may surprise readers but I must have covered around 80,000 largely trouble free miles on that Bonnie. As it is older tech, I did use to give the engine a strip down every two winters though, to check bearings and give it a de-coke, but that what I considered to be treating the bike as a friend rather than a consumer durable. I felt I was on the bike riding from your video, rather than just watching, and it reminded me very much of my Bonnie days. Top notch, and thank you again, I'm glad I found this review.

      Very kind words, thank you. You'll notice I haven't been very active recently. A few reasons a) i lost a bit of the enthusiasm for sitting editing several hours at night b) mostly just very busy at work and parenting but also I'm without bike at the moment. Sold the RE (miss it dearly!!) And bought a Tiger 1200 as I needed a workhorse. I got rid of the Tiger a few months ago and have been holding off buying another for a while as we are looking to buy a house in the near future. I do have my old man's Himalayan that I'll be riding when the nicer weather comes in and I may start to consider a potential direction for this channel in the future. I appreciate the kind feedback

    • @DirkGentley42
      @DirkGentley42 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@moto_cal Thanks for the reply. I can see how hours of sitting in front of a computer after your day job might loose its appeal after a while. I think it says a lot that you miss the RE. I cant say I especially miss any of my former bikes, apart from my first Triumph - which got stolen. I still have my '79 Bonnie which is currently being bought back to life, in fact the Ducati was only meant to be a temporary thing until the Bonnie was resurrected. But I've gotten to wondering if relying on a 45 year old bike, with around 100 or 120K on the clock is altogether sensible and if the Interceptor might be a decent modern alternative. Glad to hear you have the option of a Himalayan to satisfy the itch. I imagine they are fun bikes to pootle about on. You can have fun on pretty much anything with the right mindset (no offense intended o the himalayan), back in the day I thoroughly enjoyed a DT175 which came my way and weirdly enough a Jawa 350. I'd be interested to hear your take on the Himy if you feel so inclined! Cheers.

And don't get me started on removing and replacing the rear wheel.....

    My youngest son and his partner covered 15, 000 miles around Europe last year, both riding Himalayans. That'll be thirty five countries over four months, much of it off-road. From the UK, South to Gibraltar, North toFinland and every (accessible) country in-between. They did their own servicing and tyre changes en route. A broken pannier frame was the only mechanical problem. Both bikes are still in daily use. The Himalayan is more than the sum of its parts. Not quick, but quick enough. And it's versatile, reliable, cheap to service yourself and everyday usable. And it's a whole lot of fun! A future classic. Just bought a low-mileage example myself after a weekend riding my son's Himmy. Great bike! Ride safe. Love and peace.
