Secret Birthplace of the '91 GMC Syclone!
In this episode you will learn a little know secret about the actual birthplace of every 1991 GMC Syclone. I also share my personal journey from the mid 80's that lead to my interest in the Syclone as well as other Turbocharged GM vehicles like the Buick Grand National and the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. You also get to see my budget attempt at a "Grand National Inspired Pickup" that I built in the late 80's when my attempt to purchase a brand new 1987 Grand National was derailed by my inability to get the loan. And we talk street racing too!

Interesting way to install a shock. It worked out great.
2.8!!!!!
I think that a 151 cu. in. OVH Valve GM 4 Cyl (Iron Duke?) with a few Cliffords Performance parts, such as camshaft, intake, 4-barrel carb, and slightly oversize valves would give it some oomph and still would be very, very reliable! Great related videos!
Thanks for sharing!!!!
I would LOVE to have the opportunity to build an old Army jeep from the ground up.
5:55 should be a vent bolt for the diff
I'm not too happy with those welds.
Man right off the bat those welds on the leaf spring brackets look like a hack job. Hope they hold up!
Is anyone else going to address the elephant in the room ??!?!?! Those welds ...... ah, nope.
@@Race353 ouch :)
Old cars should not have low-profile tyres with giant alloy Tonka wheels. Cartoon diameters are starting to look daft on modern plastic boxes, but the proportion of the wheel and tyre has a particular aesthetic relationship with classic bodies (including many pre-'90s cars) that is lost without high-profile rubber. Steel wheels, even if chromed, should be used on cars from the era before alloys became ubiquitous. Perhaps, one day, we can reverse the trend, and designers of new cars will begin to shrink diameters to serve the visual art, and only use larger wheels to serve the functions of braking, turning circle and limiting deflection.
Prayers for your dad and family
@@thomasfortner8825 Thank You
I'd find me a good solid four cylinder with a carburetor out of a Ford Ranger pickup truck
I was ready to slam you if you called it a wlleez...
Your shock dilema reminded me of a problem my dad and I had with an up- tilted bumper on a 65 Mustang we brought down level. So you all most had the plan when you used the racthet strap to pull the leaf spring over but you were probably a bit wonky a 3am. 😉 Place the floor jack under the leaf spring. Run the ratchet strap or a chain under the jack and and then up and over the frame and connect the ends. Now all you have to do is jack the leaf spring up, and the frame will come down due to the straps. Bobs, your uncle! 👍
@@POPPASHANGO You are a genius!!! Thank you for that tip. If I ever get in that situation again I’ll be ready 😀
@JohnsGarageProjects You are welcome! I enjoy the videos!
Well, I have always wanted to shoehorn a Cummins diesel in a jeep. That would certainly be my favorite.
I want one
My deepest sympathies for you and your dad. I know what you’re going through but God does miracles and God does bring peace. Love your episodes. Keep doing what you’re doing.
@@martinrodriguez7999 Thank you my friend
I dig it👍🏻

Hey man cool video friend of mine worked at a dealership here in NC . 2000s drove one said it was bad ass truck. , owner of the dealership asked him to drive it to get his opinion .
That’s so cool that he has that memory! I’ll never forget my test drive 😀
In the early 90,s I worked for Jack Cooper auto transport in Albuquerque , they would come in on the rail and we would truck them on in to Tucson and Phoenix Arizona at one trip I had three on my truck on one load , they were very cool trucks !!
Awesome video!!! It brought back a lot of memories. i worked at the Shreveport GM plant 84-94 and my brother worked at P.A.S. during the build of the Syclone. 👍🏼. I finally retired from GM 4 yrs ago.
@ That’s so cool! Thanks for building cool stuff for us!
@@darrelkinney9856 Such a fun truck! Love how hard it pulled off the line
Only non-factory wheels that look right on A Bodies imo
THEY CANT BUILD THINGS THIS GREAT TODAY
And in the squarebody trucks they were power beams
Keep it all original… Just Everyone Else’s Parts 🤣 That’s hot Roding! You do you, I’ll appreciate most any build even if it’s not what I’d have done.
Looks good
Nothing like the dim glow of a set of T-3s on a back road at night!
@@danecorpgarage8478 For Sure!!!

Very cool
0000 Steel wool cuts way faster. I wouldn’t use the polisher unless the steel wool left a haze.
Turtle Wax Chrome Polish is the GOAT. It removes rust, and leaves a nice finish. Try it with some fine steel wool.
Exactly right! Old school goodness!!!
Turtle wax everything is underrated. I love it
The old chevy wiring is not fun
I normally just cram a screwdriver up into the turn signal hole, then pry up until it breaks a hole in the column. Then I pop the gear off, and pull towards me on the little metal bar underneath... kekeke vroom.
@@castanza128 Yikes 😳, certainly a faster method 😛
All builds besides "stance and catback" are valid
My grandma had a brand new 1970 chevelle orange with a white vinyl top. My grandma sold it in 1972 to get a station wagon and has regretted it ever since
That is a cool color combination!!!
In the Philippines they put Different motors in them. They still a building Jeep like that. Google philippine jeeps go check them you love it and on TH-cam
Didn’t know that! That’s awesome
Two wrongs don't make a right :)
I've watched to this point, but watching this extremely rare slat grill military vehicle being further modified is just too much. When you sell it eventually, I will watch the guy who restores it to original spec and does this old war horse justice.
Im old. I remember that. Worked 90% of the time
Not a bad percentage 😀
Not true, it could be the 1st year of that model or simply the year the lense was made.
True. It was certainly more accurate when auto makers totally changed designs each year
Also have the bulb number on the light lenses on a lot of vehicles
Never knew that …I’ll be on the lookout for that info 😀
He said look inside but look along the edges of the tail light instead.
I appreciate you helping me explain what I thought was a cool touch on classic vehicles…who knew it would be so infuriating to folks 😛
Bro is lying for no reason
He is not lying
I think he's trying to pull a fast one.
He is telling the truth older cars had the year printed along the edge of the tail light.
I couldn’t see jack
How much$$$$$$
Love how he says you can look in the taillight but with that glare and shit I can't see a damn thing
Thanks for the constructive criticism???
@JohnsGarageProjects he's saying to film it better next time. Actual constructive criticism btw
The only thing jeeps are good for is scrap metal if you ask me
Ouch 🤕
