    Way too fast. Even at 0.75 it's difficult to follow. You need to take time and stop on every action you do. The problem is that when you create a video, you need to understand that you make it for people who don't know how to do what you explain. You do it like "oh well, i know how to do it, let's do a speedrun and explain at the same time". So i stopped watching your video, wrote this comment and went somewhere else to learn :D

    i tried learning it, but i gave up the moment i learned i can't move on further without learning Vex programming language that is out of my scope as an artist...this program is good but it requires you to unlearn anything and dedicate your soul to it for a long time, witch is risky since i can't be sure if am gonna be good at it or not...it's a matter of years and time is what we lack as human being, we love result and practicability in a fair amount of time...i'd love to see houdini does things only with nodes and without relying on formulas and vex but it's impossible..it's how it was made...

    • @unrealfreedom1807
      @unrealfreedom1807 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do a lot of things without VEX, and there are a lot of things you can apply without VEX however if you want to unleash the full potential of Houdini you need to learn VEX indeed. And at this point you have to ask yourself, are you gonna constraint yourself to the word "Artist" and the meaning you assign to it? Or do you want unlimited freedom? It's pretty easy question for me. I want to be able to create anything I desire with absolute freedom of expression and for me that is what an Artist is. Just because it's programming doesn't mean an Artist can't do it. I am a technical artist by profession and Artist is part of that title but you are expected to know technical things. So yea it's really up to you to decide what you really want. VEX is not that scary either. Give it a try. I am planning on creating a lot more Houdini videos and at one point I will go into VEX as well and will try my best to present it as simple and practical as possible. And one last thing, you can always find time for the things you really want.

      @@unrealfreedom1807 i'd love to learn it and am always thinking of ways how to achieve such complexity with controls to get various results in a concept or a design, and houdini is the way but am blocked for now...it's like standing front of mount Everest, telling my self how the heck am i gonna climb at least the third of it without getting pulled back by some obstacle...well i do believe, if the teachings are well made by a master i'll be able to do something with houdini..most of the tutorials looks like a show off do this do that without explaining the basic concept behind it, just like you said a concept allows you to diversify your design because simply you understood the internal process of the nodes and how they react with each other. but hey man thank you for the reply really appreciate it and am willing to follow your channel to learn houdini asap the smart way. can't wait :D

I can recommend you a way of studying in fact you can search for Justin Sung on youtube. This guy is a legend. The thing is Houdini and VEX have a lot of documentation and tutorials on their website not even on youtube. Start with simple things and build up but also I think you should go into Houdini and just explore nodes and everything by yourself before you even start the tutorials binchwatch :D . Anyway, thank you for subscribing man I really appreciate it! I hope I can help out and I hope I can create tutorials that are easy to understand!

    • @dirtcreature3d
      @dirtcreature3d 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another perspective many don’t consider is there is actually a lot of tools you can buy for Houdini that will cut the learning curve down immediately. I only had 1.5 years of experience using blender before learning Houdini, I immediately hit a wall because the learning curve, I then invested in MOPS plus and OD Tools and it’s so much easier to use with these addons and also makes you really excited to use H because you can immediately see the potential. Try focusing on one thing in H first and then branch from there. I recommend learning vellum first because it’s fkn sick and probably one of the best simulation systems ever created

    • @mediamenace1879
      @mediamenace1879 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@unrealfreedom1807 Well he does have a fair point in regards to limitations. In order to utilise Houdini you have to be pretty clever and not just creative. That being said, as you say to be a true artist you kind of have to get outside your comfort zone and perform on a level not the norm. Atm I'm learning Houdini, not gotten to the point where I need to apply math, but I'm studying it with not really much clue as to what kind of math is specifically required, the pitfalls of no set track, but hey.
