Im sold on the marman flanges. Had one pair of vband flanges i welded then surfaced flat. After surfacing flat, the clamp couldn't pull them together

I hate stupid ass vband leaks. Trying to use vbands on the turbine inlet side of a crossover pipe on a single turbo v8 is pointless, frustrating, and useless.they always leak. Exhaust turbine inlet pressure leaks are evil. The whole system efficiency suffers. I see marman flanges on most every new diesel truck we work on. They don't leak. I'll be buying some of your marman flange assemblys. I am sick and tired of warped vbands

i did everything correct and the dumbass vband warps just like you said. i need those gaskets

SO much more complicated than the same setup for the Pines benders I ran for years. The main principles are the same for how the tube material flows during a bend. Thanks for explaining the details….you obviously have developed expertise using the Leonard machine. Nice work, sir.

Good video. Everything made sense. The only thing I didn't quite understand was how that little nut and bolt combo that you dropped into the end of the mandrel held it in place.

Great video.. why don't you use 409 for the flex bellows if it's a superior product for exhaust and less crack prone compared to 304?

I’m so glad I found you on TH-cam. I’m amazed at your capabilities. I’m going to contact you soon about making about a 24” 304 Stainless tail pipe with 2 slight bends to form a ‘joggle’ and a final exhaust tip bend to get best exit angle. Lastly, it needs to be flared to accept a 2” OD stainless tube stub at the muffler and have 2, short loops to attach retainer springs. I hope I can afford your service.

There is No difference for small bends. THE QUESTION is At what degree does it start to kink. I'll bet you could do 45* bends just fine. Now for a give 16ga, the smaller the tube diameter, the greater an angle you can bend. If you are trying to bend 4" 16ga on a crush bender, well, what 5*? or 10* max. I'm having a terrible time trying to get a local exhaust shop to bend 1.5" 16ga 304 for my Datsun Truck where a 45* bend is all I would need and probably not that much.

I use both your Marman flanges and the machined ones. -- If I do a machined V-band, I let the tube stick out on one side so the flanges fit tightly. I use original flanges on applications that are absolutely critical, like pre turbo flanges (I have my own custom flange design for those) or header collectors that need angular adjustment and a good tolerance fit. Heavy vibration is another application for the original v-bands. -- For cheaper exhausts, I use your Marman product. It's superior to any 2-bolt, 3-bolt, u-bolt, or lap joint product, and by a large margin. It gives the ease of assembly from a solid V-band flange, but at a much cheaper total system price. -- Your flex bellows are good. I dare say they're the best on the market. You pride yourself on the Marman flanges, but your flex bellows are the real ticket.

How thick are your flanges. 460 Ford.

? Since you have this tool in your shop why don't you just make the header instead of making a bunch of little parts and chopping the parts up? I mean I know people buy those parts but still, I have some headers I need made and if I created the template couldn't you just bend the four pipes to the shape I handed you and be done with it? Seems a lot easier than cutting and welding 50 pieces together for each run!!

I always slid the v ban ove the pipe and use the pipe to do the same thing u did

Great video. I run a ercolina tm76 and hate cleaning out our current water based lube. We do a lot of tig welding and end up spending a lot of time washing bends out. Where do you get your high temp soap and whats the exact brand it sounds like a time saver
