    These are sweet designs, but I personally prefer to incorporate the storage into the living/crafting space. Would love to see how you would do so (I haven't scoured your channel yet). Also not big on signs, I like it to be more fluid and intuitive. As well, how would you go about using the larger reinforced chest for a storage space?

    For a fun enclosed railing i like to use the 26deg wall edge up snapped to the side of the stairs and then capped with the 26deg wall edge down to make the railings. Flat sides use the 2m half walls capped with a wood beam and a vertical 1m wood beam for railing endings.

    Personally, I prefer the Stargate element - I have three permanent gates. The middle gate is always tagged 000... with the left and right, I "dial up" a given gate in the world as needed. When I'm out exploring, I can drop a gate and dial home at any time using the 000 portal. There's something kinda fun about entering the tag for the destination and watching the gate do its Stargate-style connection animation. Also, with the two gates, it means me and the small group of people I play with still have some flexibility when it comes to visiting different areas at the same time... but on the whole, it's a good idea to stay with the team anyway. Great tips with the sign formatting btw! Had no idea!

    • @meancuppajoe
      @meancuppajoe หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a great idea having a default portal to always be able to portal back too! And as you say you may as well have a couple of portals. That way, if playing with friends, you could just have a portal each to use. It does mean having a few portals but it’s still a lot more space saving than an enormous hub.

    I think the ashwood is my favorite, but I appreciate the grausten the most because I have never been able to figure out how to use them successfully in a build. Your placement instructions were very clear, so now I can finally start building a church for my castle. Thanks!

    Sadly it'll increase your number of instances in the game - meaning you'll create slowdown due to valheims rendering issues. Recommend just using chests instead.

    • @meancuppajoe
      @meancuppajoe หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats a good point, I didn't think of that! Although I've been doing this in my own private games without issue, I suppose the amount of other instances/built items and individual PC specs will both affect performance. I guess whether or not to do it depends per individual, however I will add a note into the description informing people of this possibility!

    2:55 What do you mean precious chest space? One wooden stack takes as much space as 2 chests and holds only 50 wood. You can keep 800 wood in 2 chests.

    • @meancuppajoe
      @meancuppajoe หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for commenting. It’s actually 1000 wood in 2 chests. However, if you check out my shorts video ‘Unlimited Wood Storage in Valheim’, you’ll see that wood stacks are way more efficient at storing wood over chests.

    I think its silly that to put items on a flat surface you need to craft an item stand that costs fine wood and nails. Why? I dont need wood and nails to place a cup on a table. You should just be able to place free transparent hook points on any flat surface and then these hook points can have items placed on them. I understand why wood and nails are needed to hang something from a wall but it doesnt make sense for putting things on a table

    • @meancuppajoe
      @meancuppajoe หลายเดือนก่อน

      I get where you’re coming from. For various things like weapons & tools it could be handy to just be able to put them down wherever you wanted. Although in certain circumstances I still like to use flat item stands, for example using them under tankards makes them look like coasters. We’ll have to wait and see what future updates bring us!

    @circleofowls, architect here. Best storage density I have found is 2x2 floors as shelves, 1m apart, with reinforced chests. I get 5 chests wide in 4m. Tip - you must place the chests from the top shelf first, then work your way down. 5 reinforced chests is 5x24=120 spaces per 4m shelf. Compared to black metal, where I get 3 chests in the same 4m, so 3x32=96 spaces. But my new favorite method uses barrels laid out in a honeycomb pattern and just peeking through the floor.
