I’m a 34-year-old male I had symptoms at the time of burning urination for a few days and decided to see a physician for my symptoms. The primary physician requested lab test for urine culture and came out negative for UTI so this physician sent me over to a urologist for further evaluation. My Urologist prescribed me doxycycline monohydrate 100 mg for one week after I described my symptoms. After the week, symptoms still persisted , and before the week was over, I decided to get a second opinion from a different physician primarily because this Urologist wanted to perform a cystoscopy and jam a rod into my you know what… I went to see a doctor outside the scope of my health insurance company. This particular doctor prescribed me Cipro 500 mg for one week after describing my symptoms. I am on day four and I can honestly say my symptoms have gone away! So much for paying $400 a month for health insurance.

I have a male UTI (age 41), urine culture detected a bacteria Klebsiella pneumoniae. Currently on a 7-day course of antibiotics. Does this mean I came into contact with the bacteria via the urethra or could it have been caused by something else?
