MTB HEALTH CHECK

This is a quick overview of what I typically look for in a bike check. I follow the ABC's of the bike to identify critical issues and maintenance options with some indications of what could happen if ignored or neglected.
2023 Hit and Run Bike Crash
มุมมอง 416 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video is a reconstruction of a hit and run I experienced while out riding on December 1, 2023. The person did not even stop to check on me and I do show some of the injuries sustained. For those with an aversion to blood or gruesome details have been forewarned. Some details of my injuries that I did not specifically call out on the video, I had four CT scans, I was transferred from the in...

🚲1988 Yellow Trek 360 Full Bike Restoration
I absolutely love big bikes like this. I have two big GT's myself and just adore them. It was a joy watching you restore this Specialized Sport Rock. I have two, rather small for my taste, Specialized RockHoppers that I also adore. Before now, I hadn't even heard of a Sport Rock. But I genuinely love it and wish I had the exact same one you worked on in this video. Excellent job!
I am glad you enjoyed watching it come back to life.
you might be closer to the microphone, and lessen the volume of the music so you could be better understood. Otherwise, great video and descriptions.
I tried something new and from results didn't work out well. I will do better on my live shots.
Gna be incredible slop and play??!!
No difference
You need to work on your editing
❤

Hows the quality of that suntour set?
It was definitely of the same quality as the Shimano counterparts at that time. I'm not sure what happened to the company, but would be interested to know if there possibly was a buyout or some loss that the company suffered.
I'm glad you documented this! So many important lessons for new bikers to consider.
Absolutely!
This happened to my mate after he taken a 200 pound full sus bike of a 20ft jump to flat , WHAT WAS HE THINKING
take it off and only use the pedal assist
Its happens coz you install it wrong
Ummm looks like my bike😅
Shimano tourney for you
I have the same derailer on my bike and once it bent a litle bit but i fixed it with my hand but your is gone
So how do you fix it?
That is a good question. Usually, when they are that bad, it is simply remove the chain and install a new rear derailleur. Typically, this is caused by incorrect limit stops on the derailleur where the chain catches in between the sprocket and spokes. Not geed for the rear derailleur or the spokes and can mess up the chain as well. Derailleur stops are so critical!
Roses are red violets are blue Your rear derailer is bent so take it to the shop and buy one that’s brand new.
Oil it and it's good to go 👍
😬😬
Just to clarify, wheel is on the wrong way round. Disc is one side of the wheel and caliper is on the other. What did you charge? 😂😂
I have that What should I do
Ok but why
Situational awareness is pretty important. Target fixation nearly always ends badly.
Dont stop making videos these videos are very informative
Hi If you have not gotten rid of the trek 360 I would buy it or I could trade you my 1988 360 100 % original but it's not my size The one you have is my size Let me know thanks
Neat! You do good work
Thanks! I will include more builds in the future, including yours.
a year ago i converted my mtb from a 3x8 to 1x12 with the same brand of cassete you used but for an xd version. my current set up is a 40t oval chain ring and a 9-50t cassete to give me the same top and low end rations as my old drive train which was a 48-28t up from and 11-32t rear.
Have you noted that the gear ratio suffered by moving to a 1x12 configuration? I am curious to know since I have heard mixed reviews about doing that.
@@oneloosesprocket YES in terms of gear steps at the higher end.
the ratio form the 11t gear to the 9t is 3.63-4.44. before on the 3x8 set up with 48t chainring the ratio from the 13t gear to the 11t is 3.69-4.36. Some what of a biger gap on the 1X12 so i barely use the 9t, only when i am going DH. however after the 15t gear on the bigger cogs, the steps feel the same. just on the higher gears I notice the step differences. but with a more compact 1x12 like your 11-50, i think you would only notice this on the last couple of gears.
sweet
Awesome 👏
pfffffff no nice
Super fancy lugged steel bike. I also own a brazed steel bike, I bought the frameset from a junkshop. We're almost of the same age I'm just a year older " it is a 1985 Motobecane Mirage Deluxe. New subs here :)
Hi Did u get rid of the 1988 trek 360 My favorite bike of all time Don't ask why I'm don't even know But... I have a 21in and need the 22.5 Let me know if u still have it I would buy it Thanks
I gave it to a subscriber. He loves the classics, too!
Thanks so much! This was great! I just picked up a blue Trek 360 and am looking forward to putting some work into it. Great video!
Glad it was helpful!
very meticulous, good work.
I like that gloss green paint. I had a Specialized hard rock with gloss green that really popped and shined.
I, too, love the vintage bikes. When I was a young parent, Sears came out with their Free Spirit bikes, then in about 1971 or 2 or 3 they developed a Light weiight Free Spirit Ten Speed. I guess I sold the baby formula or canned baby food right out of our child's mouth, but I bought one of the lightweight bikes. I rode it in my work as well as for fun. I bought a kid's seat that mounted on the rear axle and I would take my four year old to his Pre-K school. He remembers it as a rather scary event. I remember it with great joy, and can still hear his curious voice observing every thing along the way. Your Trek 360 reminds me of that old Free Spirit. I kept it, used it, then that fouryear old used it when he was in high school. Our joy ended when someone helped themselves to it, out of our car garage. What pain that was. Your Trek work reminded me of lots of the features of that old bike. You have done a great work.
Lo primero siempre es quitarte el reloj.
If the centre lock is internal yeah, if it’s external…. mmmno
