Despite the first vid I ever put up, a Neon Sign training video, this will likely gravitate towards purely an embroidery and apparel decoration channel.
I'm the head grunt at a family run small apparel decoration biz in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It started with screen print equipment, which we put into storage pretty much immediately and got in to embroidery and have grown mostly with the 'dry side' of decoration. We'll bring traditional ink prints back in house when we get a more appropriate space for it. We really enjoy making the best quality items we can, and learning from the ones that aren't quite there.

BEST (only?) Embroidery Stabilizer dispenser for CAPS
If you hate scissor cutting hat stabilizer like I do, get you one of these Kraft paper tape dispensers. So easy even your shipping department could do it.
UPDATE: plans in place to make some parts to modify this dispenser to accommodate a new/full roll of stabilizer. Will make these available for sale as soon as they’re proven out.

Quick and dirty clip on how we make a pop-out patch with heat seal backing. There’s more to it than this but this is the gist.
Tajima Embroidery Machine Stepper Motor Repair
มุมมอง 6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
So one day an intermittent problem with my Tajima embroidery machine became an always problem. I had a job I needed to finish, and there was no time to wait for parts. Usually the machine worked just fine, indicating the main control board and likely the XY driver card were still fine. That left only the motors to be suspect. This is not a guarantee. This fix may not resolve the issue and then ...
Tajima Embroidery Operation - Frame forward or backwards in a running design (back up or go ahead).

How can I contact you about an error on my machine I need help on?
Thanks for this video, very useful. Do you have user's manual for this panel? Can't find on internet!!!
Please I have same problem, can you help?
Have you had issues with error code 211? I keep on getting that error after the machine does a stitch jump or needle change. Do you have any idea on how to permanently fix it
Hello friend, a question, my machine gives me the code 311, I removed the engine, do you have any idea how I can repair that part, what happens is that they tell me that I can only get used ones but they can give you the problem again.
Hi i haven’t been able to find the settings on how to have it trim the thread in between names any suggestions on that please thank you
fantastic repair approach....i could do this repair but i wonder what the probability of the Y axis motors failing together?...Y axis stopped working with the arrows on the control panel (and obviously when trying to embroider). machine doesn't throw an error code when motors fail? are the motors more of a probable cause?
@davidlacroix8496 No, the machines don't throw a code when the motors fail. Beats me as to why. There's only so many components in the chain and it's my belief that when the machine 'appears' to be working normally except for these axis failures, the motors are the most likely culprit but also inexpensive/cheap to try this solder repair. Yes, it's a lot of labour to take the machine apart and try this, but it beats throwing parts at it that might not be the problem. SO many techs go straight to blaming the x-y card. I think that's lazy.
@@1981muldo in our case I was able to find two motors for $179 a piece brand new the tech could only find $700 Motors Perhaps my 35 years in the Auto industry has helped me locate the correct parts I will take these motors apart and check the connectors and repair them, keeping them as spares
@@davidlacroix8496hey bro by any chance ce can you help me find a XY card for tajima tmex c1501? Thanks in advance
Where can i buy A new motor at?
Most useful information, thank you. I have the same issue with my Tajima Tmex c901 on the y motor. The machine loses registration at higher speeds or lond/wide stitches but only on the y axis. I think this is my solution. Do you perhaps have any ideas how to factory reset a Ricoma machine if you suspect a virus
en español por favor
How you do offset in this machine to applique?
There's a couple ways. I've got a small list of how-to's I want to record when I get time.
+ I guess you're not doing this anymore. I have some experience with neon years ago. I bought a plant and paid a guy to teach me. However, he turned out to be an Alcoholic and wasn't relieable. I wish I had learned because now I am retired and woud like to find a place to finish my experience. This gentleman is really good at explaining everything. Thanks for creating a great video.
That's not me in the vid....I got this on VHS with a bunch of neon equipment I bought. Felt it would be a good idea to get it digitized and on here so it's avaialble for everyone. Someday (famous last words) I'll set up the stuff and start to learn to do it myself. Life currently in the way. Good luck with re-learning what you did have!
What part of the world did you retire to? We are working on getting a neon setup at Dallas Makerspace. We are not professionals by anymeans. We just aim to learn & help each other learn.
Can you suggest a source for buying replacement y-axis stepper motors for my TEHX-C1501?
Not yet...it's on my to-do list.
I love this machine. I work in a multi million company. This is my pieces maker machine for a names, multiple logo in 1 order. I can send all the logo that i need and just go back. In my work, we have to make our goal pieces. As long as im ranning this kind of machine, it makes my work soo easy and get my pieces as early as i can
Hi,, I’ll like to ask I use this machine i haven’t been able to find the setting on how to have it cut the thread in between names
Do you happen to have knowledge about the pulse stepping motor for the upper thread hook? Our hook doesn't seem to pop out far enough to grab the thread "consistently". Upon removing, we noticed the shaft does not go forward the same amount as it go backwards. For example travels clockwise 1/4 " but then goes counterclockwise 1/8". Does that mean it's bad?
I'm sorry, I can't say that I've had to delve into that particular stepper before. Honestly, most of the trimming and wiper (the hook you speak of) problems I've had are due to tension being too high.
Any suggestions how to do matrix on tajima
I can make a video on how to to it on this style of controller. It's pretty simple, and should be fairly similar, if not easier, on newer models. Next time I have a short run of patches I need to use repeat for I'll film the setup.
Great video.
Where you located
My machine doesn't come on what is the problem
Check the power cord, circuit breaker, and e-stop button.
Please list the Uline tape dispense #. I made a wooden on that I made. I put the roll on wooden rod. have a cutter on under a bar that just tears hat paper.
This one is the H-725 I believe.
wow, genius from the north !!! :)
I want to do this on my machine for my X axis motors, I'm not sure how to remove the motor shaft off bearings that hold it all together. Any tips would be appreciated. thanks for the video.
Bearings will be a tight fit but should come off. Pulleys will have two set-screws in them you’ll need to loosen before they’ll slide.
I have a machine that is shifting my design left to right...up and down it's fine it seems to be jumping out of place when it goes left to right...any suggestions?
This could be the same issue. When these motors lose a leg they become unpredictable until they start failing more often then you see the complete loss of an axis.
Hi men, i have a melco emt16 & i want to change the stepper motor X for another generic.. would you help/guide me on "how or what model" could use? The f@#kers doesn't give any specs. It's a 3xmotion 6 coil motor. And i can give you the "sticker" data (beside of pics or any other possible data). If it doesn't is to much trouble for you
I’m sorry I don’t know much about Melcos, internally anyway.
I love this. On point! 🙏🙏🙏
How to do trim in tajima TME-912?
How can I contact you? My machine has the same exact issue and I am following your video but cant figure out how to remove the motor from the back of the bar.
Hit me up on facebook. Link in bio. I'll help if I can.
do you have a comprehensive list for all required materials to successfully start creating neon signs?
Perfect <3 love the full-tape format, gets so much more information than a 10 minute skim
did it work? let us know, i have the identical issue great video!
So far so good.
Thank you for sharing this video. It's been so helpful for learning glass bending technique.
Very Nice vídeo.
Hi. Thank you for your instructional video extremely helpful. I have a similar problem and I would greatly appreciate your input in resolving this. I ha Tajima 2000 TMEX c-15. Lately it decided not to work. When I turn on the machine it starts embroidering in the same spot (won’t wait for me to upload a program). The only way I can stop is by turning it off any ideas what coulee wrong with it. Will appreciate your assistance. Regards Charles
Doesn't sound quite like the same problem. I think you may have issues with your main controller. I would try re-loading the firmware (factory reset the machine). If that doesn't fix it....
That breaker box is priceless!
Actually they're only a couple hundred bucks, depending on how fancy you go. This one is 40 years old.
Hello
Bonito de mais eu sou profissional do neon também eu amo neon 👏👏
Eu sempre quis aprender essa profissão. Acho lindo demais.
I have a 2010 Neo2 that is having intermittent 316 main shaft motor issues. I just ordered a main shaft motor on a Net 30. Is this motor also a stepper motor, or is the fix the same or similar? I think I could make this fix if it's the same. I don't think the motor ever got overheated.
had the same issue ,there is a magnets glued on the shaft inside the motor that came unglued
Oh hey Alisa! I think we already chatted about this over on FB. Did you ever get it going??
@@1981muldo yes. I bought a new motor and my tech installed it. Works better than when it was new
Let say you are on the middle of color 3 if you hit to go back once will it go to the beginning of 3 or the beginning of 2?
Beginning of 3.
Just set you machine in backward and keep pressing the botton until u reached ur missing stitches. If u missed the whole color for number 3 then u can set you machine forward and skip needle number 2. Then start
Thanks for sharing this awesome video.
This is the best guide about Making Neon I've ever seen ! Great thanks for video. Only one question - when this video created?
definitely sometime in the 90s
When you readjust, are you using the “e” button on the upper right of the Tajima control panel?? I am assuming you are trying to place the center of the hoop over the needle plate??
When I need to adjust I use the arrow keys. Where I'm placing the start point depends on the file, the garment, all kinds of things.
Thank you! :))
@muldo the X axis on my Tajima TMEX-C1201 just stopped working entirely out of nowhere. When it's off I can move it freely; it's not jammed or anything. There are no errors being thrown. When I push the L/R buttons at first I thought nothing was happening, but I just realized it's humming and vibrating VERY slightly. Do you think I should start by replacing the motor? It doesn't have the same connections as in your video; there are no solder points to be bad. Are you pretty sure about the NEMA 24 thing? Thanks SO MUCH for recording this video at 3am :-D
Sorry I missed this comment...... Yes, sounds like a similar issue. I'd crack the motors open and re-solder the points and see if it works. Nothing to lose.
Thanks for this
Hello, my TEJT 1501 2005 MODEL has a problem. when its turned on, the frame moves around to find the origin, but the pantograph doesn't complete its cycle. CHECK X or Y pulse motor is the error, therefore the machine cannot function. Do you think your tutorial will help?
Hi Sharon; I'm not sure. That doesn't sound quite like the same issue. This may or may not help. The TEJT's are more similar to the old Toyota's as far as I'm aware...might want to ask this in the Tajima/Toyota facebook group. There's some techs in there with better experience on those machines.

This video is a Bible for glass bending!
Great video. I have a very very similar issue with my X-axis and I feel like I have tried EVERYTHING. Is there a way I can contact you? I would love to figure out what my problem is.
My better half would love to try something new. He keeps on telling me that he wanted to do neon back when he was in high school. But I don't think he has much patients any more. If he did get into making anything with neon, it will probably be a strait tube with electrodes on the ends, and double backs. As far as all the bends and turnes, nah I don't think he has that much patients. And the equipment might be way too pricey for him to get. Otherwise great informative video. Keep up the great work! Got to love neon.........❤neon❤
