    Great video tutorial! Have to say, asking to test fire is stupid. A single shot no one cares about, sustained fire will cause question. Unless you’re in a controlling military sim org or something. But sure asking is polite I guess

    • @expressmangaming650
      @expressmangaming650 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How it usually happens is, we drop on grid, nothing on the radar yet. Someone shoots. Everyone is looking for the target. Asking is probably too tedious but a simple announcement "fire in the hole" would keep people from reacting. We've also had other ships in the group be "hey whats going on there."

    • @expressmangaming650

      Yes. Gimbals will always aim for the center of the target, or the center of the sub-target. Particularly if you're up close on a larger ship, locking gimbals will give you more control of exactly where you're aiming. In practicality, I keep the gimbal on about 80% of the time. A cruiser is already a decently seized capital ship. The sentence about cruisers dwarfing the capital ships in SC makes no sense. We have seen 1 cruiser in SC yet, at least in the foreground, with the Argus being destroyed in the recent Prologue video of SQ42 (th-cam.com/video/1H-0x4xk2Xk/w-d-xo.html). Of course, the size of individual ship classes varies between the two games, but frigates too, for example, are capital ships in many forms of classification.

    • @expressmangaming650
      @expressmangaming650 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah its terminology soup cause CIG (and some other games) take a lot of liberties with it. I think EVE comes closer to real life NAVY so that's what my brain will default to every time. For example CIG calls the Javelin a Destroyer, but as a role it's the big guns that protect the carrier, which historically is a Battleship but modernly is a Cruiser. Whereas a Destroyer (IRL) being a smaller long range scout that punches above its weight class fits the Polaris to a T.

Indeed I know of few in the early community who ever spoke of playing those games. The majority seemed to be players of Chris Roberts previous games. When I was heavily invested in EVE I always wished that I could do it in first person. When Star Citizen came along I though this is it, and in the years I have been involved with SC I have seen the changes and improvements. I am really excited about what the future holds, it will take time but I do believe that they will be able to deliver. Just looking at the fact that their game engine is built on Cryengine 3 that is 14 years old, and looking at what they have accomplished, shows how ambitious they are. They have done some amazing and beautiful things with it.

    • @Nine-Signs
      @Nine-Signs 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well just to say they are not using Cryengine 3 as such, they are using Lumberyards which while based on Cryengine had been developed out from that and with Amazon giving CIG its own licence to do as it wishes with the version of it they have CIG have been free to call their heavily developed version of lumberyards StarEngine and can even sell it as a stand alone engine if they want to. Presumably with a cut to amazon in the contract. As for the engine being old... I saw someone else say this earlier but they were very much complaining about the age of the engine. This I find very strange as I have been around for several decades now and can reliably inform all that Unreal engine is 26 years old yet is among the best out there. Sufficed to say the age of the engine is unimportant, it is what you do with is that counts, and as we can see from Bethesda whose engine is nearly as old as Unreal 5, some companies don't do much while others invest heavily in their engine. In effect CIG has managed to make a pretty competitive graphics engine over the last 12 years on a relatively show string budget when you consider Unreal engine has had billions spent on it over the last 25+ years. If only they could have finished a game during that time. -.-

Lumberyards is a fork of the crytek engine, it was CIG who helped secure the sale of it to Amazon in return for 75 million dollars from Amazon to crytek to save them from bankruptcy, with CIG switching to the lumberyards fork via amazon as it was free to use without restriction once in the hands of Amazon. Worked out even better in the end as Amazon gave CIG the rights to name their own fork of the crytek>>lumberyards engine as Star Engine.

    I really enjoyed eve's physics and that all relevant stats plus more were available - things like rotation speed for turrets, so that you don't engage faster than they can keep up, or that the explosion radius from ordinance is posted, as well as as the energy or damage capacity - so you don't waste the damage potential on targets that are simply to small to matter- target ship volume in space relative to the energy per unit volume, - the speed of the explosions relative to the directional velocity of the target etc. Numbers freaks like me could really finesse the hot-rods we fancied. The scanning and science part of EVE was also quite satisfying. I stopped playing because I'm mostly asocial and like to unwind by myself- the Griefers were just too much of a plague for me to enjoy myself. I like what SC is promising, and as stated it's an ounce of image until it's a pound of performance. I AM taking delight in SC, I've spent only a starter pack and a couple of nick-nacks so I'm not overly invested. I treat it like it's someone else's train set I get to play in and my $$ was kept to chump change. It's less frustrating when I think of it as someone else's money milker I get to play in, if I want. I'm not paying more money for a digital doll house - I mean, really, one can within weeks build a lucid dreaming skill up to the point of simply living in SC during scheduled dream time at will for the cost of paying attention while drifting to sleep. So, my money and time spent are a lazy way out of that boss level solution to the holodeck problem. Simply be the holodeck. Until then, though I'm going to futz around with a mouse and keyboard! SC promises and has room for some pretty fly gaming. We'll see what happens and what CIG cares about.

I'm a whale, but don't apologize! Your investment should reflect your confidence, and if it's low thats okay. We all gotta hold CIG's feet to the fire because the community is also their investors.

Its hard in SC sometimes because its supposed to be almost 1000 years in the future but we have technology *today* that is more advanced than what is in SC. A long time ago they had started a tutorial module in AC but it added tech debt and had to be updated every time they changed the game. It got scrubbed for later once the game was more realized and we will get a story as a bonus. In EvE Beta and 1.0 the tutorial was minimal to explain the UI and controls and quickly lead you to a station and dumps you off saying good luck. Character creation had some lore you immediately forgot because it seems to not matter. NPE was a top complaint with beta testers. Every time they polled the players about what needed to improve through the years NPE was always high in the list. One thing EvE did fairly well was tools to manage reputation and standing and I liked the security rating system. The corporation, alliance, and fleet stuff evolved over time but was functional enough early on.

    I'd have to question that 1000 POI in Stanton claim unless they're counting individual loot crates or asteroids.

      Most of them don't show up on the map and need to be found. There are caves, derelict outposts, crashed ships with bandits living in them.

      @@fnunez But 1000 of them? There's only 4 planets and what, 12 to 16 moons? A crashed ship with loot or an outpost with pirates at it I'd call a POI, but a cluster of minable rocks or a building you can't enter with no loot would be streching the definition a lot and would mean that even Starfield has 10's or 100's of thousands of POI's. Star Citizen's always had a large world with very sparse content because they want to hand craft everything and there's just not enough time to craft huge amounts of content.

      It takes some effort to compare apples to apples. I've played SC for years and years and there are still a number of sites I haven't explored. Just a few months ago I made myself visit the lesser traveled Lagrange stations in Stanton. Have you been to the new Distribution Centers? When I'm exploring in EVE, I enter a system, find some open space to hide in, do a scan, decide what I want to do about what I find, and usually leave. And the planets are just a JPEG ball with some resource points designated on them. My point being, any given single system has very little interest. I can exhaust it in minutes. But again... years of exploring Stanton and I still don't feel like I've really wrapped my head around it all.

    Former E:D player here, SC is everything I had hoped that game would be but scaled down to a much smaller, but more vibrant, game world. Never really got into EVE but it's nice to see the comparison.

    Eve is a total sandbox... turns out Star Citizen 1.0 is a five-system STORY GAME - just like Squadron42. Civilian social sim became a military story game... how how how?

      You're either deliberately misinterpreting the plan they laid out, or you got your info from someone who is. As said in this video, it's a matter of how detailed the setting is... thousands of POI across five systems is better than hundreds of systems with five POI each. But fair enough, it is *literally* true that they're doing less systems than they originally envisioned. Calling it a "story game" instead of a sandbox, on the other hand, is literally untrue. They were extremely clear that the game is still first and foremost open ended. They spent a lot of time painting a picture of what that open endedness would look like. They were also very clear that they are providing an optional story line specifically to *facilitate* the sandbox by providing a framework for new players to be introduced to the game. Nothing about the announcement implied the story would be a large part of the play experience, or that they expected it to be anyone's "endgame" - in fact, the only reward they mentioned you getting from it is something that helps as a jumping off point for expanding into new open ended gameplay. You don't have to like the picture they painted. But don't straight up lie about it.

      Yeah I'm not big on the "story game" thing but I hope at most it will be like Red Dead Online where there are a few initial stories to get though but it can be done in one sitting.
