These didn't turn out very good, not at all. There were a lot of bubbles, they took 3 days to fully harden and the paint was a pain in the ass. I guess that I shouldn't drink so much when making coasters.

    • @watchmefthisup1423

      To adjust it, you turn the nuts. In the video, I used hex nuts it would have been better to use wing nuts to make adjustments easier.

    Perfect for a bit of background in a pirate-themed yard haunt, or a small toy chest for a child. The stain you used brought out the wood grain beautifully, and the slap-dash application really makes it look like an old treasure chest. Personally I would have added some rust/patina to the hardware to match the aged appearance of the chest, but that's just me being a Picky Patty. Great job!

    Probably the reason your coaster holder was bit bend due to resin pressure in silicone mould. One can make small frame to support the sides of the mould until resin is set.

      @@watchmefthisup1423 I agree I always had to use stiring sticks under my moulds I am almost finished making the board. Luckily I still had an old TV table thingy that I haven't used in ages. So I'm using the top of it, which is perfect & I am using the EKET metal feet from IKEA (Article Number: 703.400.44), because they are on metal plates you can screw onto the board & it turned out great All that's missing is the spirit levels & I was super happy that I found the ones you are using, because wherever I looked the ones you need to glue on are more common it seems. But luckily I found a 6 pack on Amazon for £2.99 & it should be delivered today ☺️

    • @watchmefthisup1423
      @watchmefthisup1423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are many reasons that they could come out like that. I have had that problem when I removed them from the molds too early and when I didn't properly clean the molds before using them.

  • @princesswilson5144

    How long does it take for Shot Glasses to cure.

    • @watchmefthisup1423
      @watchmefthisup1423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the resin that I use, it takes about 24 hrs to fully cure when they are left in a warm room. Different resins cure at different rates and warmer temperatures help the resin cure faster.

    Looks good but did it work? I’m haveing such a hard time leveling my work space! The resin is easy compared to this!

    • @watchmefthisup1423
      @watchmefthisup1423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it works perfectly. It's a little tricky to get it level and if I was going to make it again I would use wingnuts instead of hexnuts, because I think that it would be easier to adjust with wingnuts. I also have been using a thin silicone mat that I place on top of it, so resin spills are a lot easier to clean up.

    Thank you so much for shooting a video on how to do this! I'm making two dozen for a birthday party this month and I wasn't sure where to start. Any tips on the best Resin to use, pouring, bubbles, and drying time? I've never worked with Resin.

    • @watchmefthisup1423
      @watchmefthisup1423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tips: Make sure the resin is FOOD SAFE, for the bubbles I place the resin on a heated coaster for about 10 minutes after mixing and I also torch them after pouring. The resins that I have used take about 24hrs to fully cure but that varies from resin to resin. Ebay seems to be the place to get the best deals on resin and the sellers there give a good description on how to use and what to expect from their products. I usually get everything else from amazon like the pigments, molds, glitter and dried flowers.
