Pennard - Wales Tour 2024
มุมมอง 2.6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The final installment from our Welsh Tour in partnership with @FootJoy It’s been a blast visiting some of the best Wales has to offer, and Pennard with the sun poking its head out for the last hole was a fitting ending to a magical trip. Pennard, for those that have not heard anything about it, is one of the lost extraordinary courses you can see. A landscape not dissimilar to the moon. A huge ...
Tenby Golf Club - Wales Tour 2024
มุมมอง 2.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Tenby Golf Club holds a distinctive place in the history of Welsh golf, conceived by the renowned James Braid, a five-time British Open Champion, evolved to feature 18 holes in 1907. It also played a crucial role as a founding member of the Welsh Golfing Union. When we arrived at 11pm to total darkness and saw the recently refurbed accomodation, and all the trappings of luxurious staycations we...
Aberdovey - Wales Tour 2024
มุมมอง 3.4K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Golf has been played at Aberdovey since 1892 when a rudimentary version of the game was played to flower pots, borrowed from a local house out in the links. One of its then members was none other than Bernard Darwin, the greatest golf correspondant of all time who wrote extensively about the game, and where Aberdovey held a special place in his heart. Borth & Ynyslas - Wales Tour 2024
มุมมอง 2.2K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This magical club across the estuary from its more famous neighbour - Aberdovey - is often overlooked, but loved by all who visit. Borth is a charming out and back links, a series of holes bisected by the road as you head into the town, with the holes in the dunes out of sight until you turn the corner on the 5th hole, a par 5, at which point they reveal themselves. We loved spending time here,...
Royal St Davids Golf Club - Wales Tour 2024
มุมมอง 3.5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Royal St David's - more affectionately known as 'Harlech' - is a truly unique place. Golf has been played here since 1894 when Harold Finch-Hatton was initially using the land to practice his boomerang skills on the links. The club was generally a second club for people heading to the coast, much like Westward Ho! We had a superb time here, having stopped over in town after Welshpool we were on...
Welshpool Golf Club - Wales Tour 2024
มุมมอง 2.8K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
First stop on our travels through Wales is Welshpool just across the border from England, on the rolling hillside above the town. Welshpool was designed by James Braid in 1929 and features some extraordinary views, elevation change and incredibly good value golf. The sort of place we love most of all! Short film from our time in St Andrews, playing the reverse routing. Something that’s on Tiger Woods’ bucket list was a real treat. Sunningdale Heath were introduced to renowned graffiti artists Troika paint, to explore how they could collaborate to bring something unique to the Golf Club. Sunningdale Heath is always striving to create an inclusive and fun atmosphere at the club, what better way to do this than through art. Fair to say this has never been done at a Golf Club before. This is the OG MacKenzie course, a club founded by a number of members from nearby Leeds, one of which was an ambitious Dr who would later go on to design Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne and of course Augusta National. Prestwick: The Original 12 Hole Open Course
Really fancy a trip down to wales, looks amazing. Just played Dumbarnie yesterday, best overall experience of hospitality I’ve had in years and a stunning track too,if you haven’t played already then you need to get it booked.
Played it years ago. Truly impressive.
How do you get involved in these events?
They tend to be announced on our mailing list or social media.
@@CookieJarGolf Ill keep my eye out, thanks :)
Par 68 at 6300? Tough test.
Absolutely, it’s a brutal stretch coming home
@@CookieJarGolf Yes certainly looks it. Proper old fashioned links.
This course is used as a qualifying venue for the Open Championship. Today, 19th July 2024, the leader of the Open Championship, qualified for the competition by winning on West Lancs. Dan Brown is the clubhouse leader after 18 holes. West Lancs, is still shaping the game, even after all these years.
FQ this year was fantastic! Love West Lancs
I'd rather play North Berwick...
Brilliant behind the scenes film…
Thanks Antony
When are you guys going to complete to Tom Morris trail? Just ticked off machrihanish and it’s a stunning course in a brilliant part of the world. Definitely straight in to my top 5
We played Mach last summer! It’s sensational. It’s the quest that continues to see them all sadly
Fantastic golf course, play it regularly, it you haven't, you are missing out on a great golf experience
Agree! Fabulous place
Love Borth, played it last week and it was in much better condition than last year. Not sure if the beach is OB, think it's a penalty area so you could play from there
Absolutely beautiful content! Please do more series like this!!!
I love CJG!!!!
The course has a good number of members from Japan and you don’t see the sea from the course itself.
Whats the history behind the anglo-saxon ravine? would love to read up on it if you have a source?
Pennard’s great! I played it when it was baked out - no one could hold the fairway on 17. Everything ended up down the slope. Tbh, 17 would be great if it was widened in the landing zone.
Played it twice. Been blessed with glorious sunshine both times. An absolutely fantatsic place where you can still smile & enjoy being beaten up by a couple of holes. To say take an easy par on 17 left me in disbelief. There is no such thing. Agree about the club, lovely friendly people there.
Agree - it was a nonsense comment by Tom 😂 the 17th is a crippler
Teeing off on a mat ???
Wet weather and winter. Didn’t make a blind bit of difference on one hole
Pennard looks like a lot of fun. Love the land movement. Great series, guys! 👍⛳️
Thanks Allan! It is a rollercoaster of joy! You’ll love it
Brilliantly shot lads, although I get the feeling you had a pretty decent canvas to work with.
Not half
because of lads i have to get here stunning video
You MUST play here Liam! You’ll love it
Pennard is truly unique. I first played in in the early 70s and returned a couple of years ago and enjoyed playing there just as much. The absolutely stunning views in the last 12 holes stay in the memory long after any niggles over particular holes are forgotten.
Would have loved to have seen it in the 70’s. Bet that’s a great memory
Played it a handful of times and there’s no disputing that the 17th probably ruins the course. It’s truly bizarre. 16th & 18th not great either and wonder how long it will be before there’s some changes there and Pennard would become one of the top 20 courses in England & Wales.
Land is so severe, and while I would say 17 is a bit too fiddly, it’s just a bit of gorse. The green sites on all 3 holes are really good still, I lost 2 balls on 17 with an 8i and that scar tissue must have still been there 😂
Need to learn how to play the 17th then... the 16th is also brutal into wind. Perfectly designed to test you.
Great film that does Pennard full justice, love it there
Thanks Mark, glad you enjoyed it
This place is so mega
You are mega
👏👏
Cheers gents 😘
Love Pennard. Never heard the crumble and uncrumble a piece of paper analogy before but it’s spot on. Going to have to use that one….any footage of The Addington to look forward to?
Tom just came out with it, he just have stole it from someone wiser 😂
Absolutely mega footage at the end there chaps
Searing aerials aren’t they
Stunning, it’s on my bucket list! Great job chaps
Thanks Oliver! You do indeed need to get down there
Are the drone shots of Slains Castle taken from the golf club or did you head over to the castle?
I first played Tenby GC in Mar '71 representing University of Wales vs 3 Counties, am foursomes pm singles. Your video brought back so many memories and your own first impressions echoed mine. A terrific course that tests all the shots, and the scenery is just fabulous.
Love the videos. Shame they are not longer. Always feel a bit short changed, wanting more..which is a good thing I suppose.
Incredible work guys, your vids helped me on a journey to travelling playing golf and getting a drone up! Thank you! I can’t believe I ‘beat’ you to somewhere so cool like this to play (and chill and dine) - and am happy to report the content is just as enjoyable to watch when you’ve been somewhere as it is when exploring where to play
Wow stunning. Such a professional channel with world class golf architecture content! keep going!!
I went to Tenby for a quick weekend holiday in 2015. Didn’t know much about the place. Played the course that first trip, and over the span of 4 years while living in Gloucestershire, my Mrs and I went to Tenby many times. The town and especially the course have my heart forever.
Another classy place 🎉
Classy camera work
James Braid wins again.
Not half, he really dominated in 🏴
🫡
This series just keeps getting better. Good on ya for sticking it out in that storm. Looking forward to Pennard! 🏴⛳️👍
Thanks Allan! Was wonderful, weather wasn’t the best but so glad we saw it! Would race back
Playing here in a few weeks time 😮
You’ll love it! If you get a clear day you’re in business!
any whale sightings off the coast when you teed it up?
Sadly not when we played
What a wonderful-looking seaside links. I don't know what is more stunning, the photography or Sam taking driver off the deck. 😂
😜 I don’t think my swing has ever been described as beautiful 😂
Gorgeous! My gran is from Wales and I intend to play golf there one day soon.
You definitely should 👊👊
Thanks for showcasing the truly great links of Wales.
Thanks 🙏
Super footage of an inspirational links course. I played it for the first time a year ago. I spent an hour in the Darwin library room before we went out. Then the golf course... cannot speak highly enough about it. A day that will remain firmly in my memory until the next time.
Thanks Michael! I had no idea Darwin was married into the same family that founded the club… and upon further digging he was also related to Wedgwood family I think too! Lost an afternoon digging through Darwin’s family tree the other week
@@CookieJarGolf Losing an afternoon is a fair trade-off for knowing more about the Darwin family and their connections in golf and otherwise. 🙂
One of the greats🎉
Yes you are
Looks superb… See you in June, fresh from the 🚂
👏👏
Love this place, many good memories
Thanks 🙏
Loving the films and the pods for the Wales trip. Definitely need to get out and explore some of these courses! Great work again guys.
You certainly should! Glad you’ve enjoyed them - Tenby on Tuesday is a cracker
Should’ve taken the 🚂 Aberdovey to Borth… Less than half an hour… Bit of a stroll to the 1st I’ll grant u that #Train2Tee Great looking vibe 👌🏻
Didn’t know you could do that - figured the estuary was in the way
Hi. I’m captain next year in borth. Thank you for the great video and review. Glad you enjoyed the course. Nick.
Hi Nick, congratulations on the upcoming captaincy! A special place, and really looking forward to returning! Getting to make the film was a pleasure! 👍👍
Fantastic footage that really shows the village in a great light. Was a member there 20 odd years ago, need to go back ASAP!!!
Thank you! Loved it there, so much fun
