ROLA ROOF RACK REVIEW & INSTALL ON JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WJ
มุมมอง 4.8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In todays video I review a Rola Products Cargo Basket. In the video I explain how I attached the rack to the jeep by removing the factory roof cross rails and attaching the Rola cargo rack on top of the factory roof rails using 3" eyebolts with heat shrink tubing over them to protect the finish on the rack. A lot of people like the rack setup and the Rola rack is the best looking roof rack you ...
You don’t need a drop bracket. Just make sure your axle is centered if not you will have death wobble if you hit a bump.
How did you do the wiring
The wiring is already there it’s plugged into a dummy plug on the old transfer case you just simply unplug it and plug it into the new one.
It looks like they don't make that model anymore
#1 242 has a shorter input shaft and will strip out the splines if you don't split the case and swap the input shaft. Also you don't need to swap the shifter assembly, just the stickers and swap the shift cable to lower hole in cable bracket. The major issue is the input shaft swap. This video doesn't say anything about the major work to split case . Otherwise you only have about 1/2" spline from tranny to input shaft.
This is fantastic... I wish I could do it to my Commander
I want to swap transfer cases from a 4.0L 2002 W7 GC with Select Drive to a 4.7L 2004 W7 GC with Quadra Trac. Is it possible to do this swap from one to the other? I have both years, so no junkyard is needed. Quadra Trac makes the gas mile the pits and a royal pain turning sharp corners.
Lol what a shit
You missed a lot of things from the NP247 to the NP242 input shaft is shorter in the 242 the tail shafts are differ so are the arms for the linkage.
Not always the case. There are variations of the 242 that came in v8 models. The one in this video came from a Durango not a jeep. It will naturally have the larger input shaft that came with the v8 jeeps that came with a 242 due to what it came out of. Simple Google searches will net you this information. Also would like to quote my sources ( me and my experience working in a transmission, differential, transfer case rebuild shop for 4 years and specialized in Jeeps and Toyotas).
do you think you’ll sell this i want one but i would personally prefer it to be like a smaller hole because i’ve personally have had a lot of problems with the bigger hole in the factory cup holder leading in a lot of spills
I like the holes in the rotors to get sand and mud in
Im getting ready to lift mine 4 inches . Ive got 20x12 with -44 offset rims im gonna put on it so mine are gonna stick out alot more Hoping to run 33/12.50s. Did you have to cut fenders or trim plastic to clear them ?
I just removed the front shaft, boom 2 wheel
ive come across 247s won't transfer power to the back unless the front drive shaft is on
Yeah, you can't do that with a Commander... or grande cherokee with the QII
Nice setup bro
Would this mount to a jeep Cherokee north ?
Turn it upside down and put rods over the top for more clearance.
do you sell this
Sweet
bud..i dont know what to tell you, but the 247 doesn't engage, at all until there is slippage of any kind, and its a WJ, esp with the 4,7l you're not going to get good gas mileage. your axle gearing affects it a lot more then the case and i can tell you, unless you're putting 40s on it, you're not gonna break a 247. the 247 is rated at 1800 standard 242 is only 1486, and the HD is only rated at 2086. which is only 280lbs more. not to mention, the HD really only came on hummers and a select few WJs.
I blew a 247 in my 4.0 wj on 6 inch lift and 35s
My transfer case just took a shit on me last night a friend told me about the 242HD but good to know about the 242D just in case I can't find a 242HD. keep up the good work man. looks like I might have to do the drive shafts with it if I go the 242D route
I have a question, is the input shaft on the 242d is shorter or long as the 242hd?
I’m not sure if it’s longer it might be looking at research online I did not cut mine down I swapped it into the 42RE transmission without modification.
Thank you, very informative. Where did you get your plastic trim for your rocker panels ? I’m having the same problem with rust there.
The plastic trim comes with the Jeep Stock if yours doesn’t have any you could go to a junkyard or You Pull it and take some off and you can buy the clips that keeps it on off Amazon because they break usually when you pull them off.
Mad skills, love your work.
Thank you! Much appreciated
Yeah buddy!i!i! Keep up the good work. 4" lift on 33's sounds about exactly what I am hoping for. This is a nice Jeep and gives me a good idea of what to expect. Hows about a little Wheeling Action Video? Best Wishes
Thanks for the feedback I’m working on making some new videos
What wheels are those? Rubicon or wrangler takeoffs? What size are the tires? How big and make of lift? Thanks. Thats it. Sweet ride
They are rubicon take offs. The tire size and wheel size is LT285/70R17. The make of tire is the Falken Wildpeak M/T. The lift is a Iron Rock Off-road 4in premium short arm lift. Thanks you
Nice easy fix, needed one after a camping trip where the rear door got slammed by one of my junior campers. I should have replaced the rear wiper assembly and board while I was at it. My rear wiper works great after a 5 minute delay acting like it's dead. Another easy, cheap, Amazon fix. Nice channel, I have an '01 Laredo 4.7.
Thank you🔥🔥
What's the model number of the Rola rack you got?
Not sure the number off the top of my head but the link in the description of the video has the model number for the exact same rack I have.
247я раздатка подает на переднюю ось не большое усилие всегда. Как и 249. Для wj 242 раздатка хорошая когда меняешь мосты на более тяжелые - Patrol или dana 60
👍
Looks good! How do you find the steel?
I got my steel from a local scrap yard I found it by looking online locally.
Another great video thank you. Ordered this jack will work great for our truck and our jeep
Thank you 😊
First Timer here! Nice video. I didn’t know about that Durango swap!
Thanks 😊
Nice jeep mine is about the same but did you have the rear being all loose i added the iro rear sway bar that seemed ro help and i got to add a new gear box as mines leaking and hopefully it helps with the steering as its kinda loose as well
Thank you 😊
Draining hoses from the A pilars had to be replaced other than that solid WJ I am super happy and surprised on the hwy mpgs for a V8
I have the 01 limited quadra drive goes anywhere love the wj have an xj to and zj lol
Why don't we say all the positive love mine!!!
That’s a great idea
Es una excelente camioneta, tengo una laredo 4.0 2000
Sounds like the same symptoms my stepson is having with his 04 WJ. I will definitely look into changing that out. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Did you have to change out the input shafts
No I did not it bolted right up.
Are you sure you have 2inch spacers. The link in the description is Amazon link to 1.5
Yeah the spacers are 1.5” I’m not 2” that was my mistake in the video.
What is the distance between b flare and the front tire
What size tires are you running, and what size wheel spacers?
The tire size is 285/70SR17
I always have an issue with my upper radiator hose.its quite frustrating
I replaced mine with one from advanced auto and haven’t had any issues with it so far
Can the jeep grand Cherokee 2000 inline 6 2wd be converted to 4wd?
Yes it can be all you need is a transfer case a front axel a front drive shaft and a shifter from a 4wd jeep I would recommend checking out your local junkyard for there parts or you could buy them new depending on your budget thanks for watching!!
@@rockyridgetv1601 it will be a junkyard build. Also could you believe i overheated mine up to 260 degrees F drove it like 4 miles home the engine made a clank clank noise💀 i thought i killed it but changed radiator and coolant hoses and it runs flawlesly🤣. I daily drive it all the time.
Its fuking inmortal, also the car was parked in a field for 2 years without starting before i got it
I have an 2000 jeep inline 6 , any reccomendation for good shock absorbers? The advance auto Ones are crap. Also i changed the steering damper and the death wobble still happens whenever i ride over a small bumb in the road.! Any advice?
First you need a good steering stabilizer I have a rough country. Next check your ball joints and tie rod ends are in good shape. Your shocks will not cause death wobble that’s more in your front axel.
@@rockyridgetv1601 thank you👍
For anyone looking to resolve "Death Wobble" in a WJ, and probably most vehicles. www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant2/DeathWobbleChecklist.pdf
Are you using a 6PK2240 serpentine belt? Your wj is an inline 6 right?
I’m not sure the part number on my belt but I got it from advanced auto and told them I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 l inline 6
I’d pay 20$ or whatever you think is best price I just know I hate having my phone fly out the factory spots lol
I agree thanks for the feedback
Hey id love a cup holder how much you want for one !
Got my front end straight finally..building this in my garage and getting the whole suspension right. I have new spring isolator rubber and rough country 2.5 lift pucks ready to go on..doing it all at once. Looking into the iron rock rear upper A-arm kit..and addco rear sway bar with possibly the disconnect ends. Would you run it?
I run the rear iro a arm and I like it I would recommend it. Having sway bar disconnects is a great option to have with it.
I like the fender flares seems like price for wj flares is high
The price is a little high compared to other jeep model fender flares but they are well worth the price and you have to consider the unique shape of the fender flares compared to a wrangler.
I had an 04 that I threw a 4" rough country lift on and that thing rode like a dump truck after because of the short arms. Never again will I use the short arms.
Yeah if your looking for a smooth ride long arms are a better option
@@rockyridgetv1601 yeah. It was rough as all dang get out. I'll never do that again.
Good to know there are cheap fixes as I love my Jeep, and want to have fun with it. But I have a limited budget, and the Wj is the Jeep that fits my budget.
You will find that WJs are good for people on a budget and they are easy to work on.
