Walt Disney: The First Imagineer
In the beginning, Walt was completely unqualified to open a theme park. He had to acquire the skills, knowledge, and money in order to open Disneyland. Could an average joe build a theme park from scratch? Follow me @themeparkforge as we see Walt Disney take his first humble steps into the world of themed entertainment and imagineering.

    You never did mention the contributions of Max and Dave Fleischer Studios. They pioneered animating from a filmed live actor (rotoscoping-1917) and using still photographs as animation backgrounds to create the illusion of cartoon characters inhabiting a real-world space in 1934 (Betty Boop short Ha! Ha! Ha!). Disney begged, borrowed, and stole ideas from everyone. He was a genius marketer but not a god.

    • @ThemeParkForge
      @ThemeParkForge ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for bringing them up! I will look them up for sure! What is interesting, too, is that a lot of achievements attributed to Disney were thanks to the efforts of talented employees then Disney himself. Disney did have a lot of the marketing and business skills, as well as branding and leadership abilities, but he was not the best animator or inventor either.

    • @toonman361
      @toonman361 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure. I have always liked Fleisher more than Disney because they were edgier. The very early Disney stuff is appealing, probably because it's so primative.

    • @nathanielcardona283
      @nathanielcardona283 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThemeParkForge the process of designing comes with a idea, for me when this project came up I was stumped on what property to use, there’s so many great lands/movies out there, one idea was bridge to Terabithia as a kids land but I didn’t know the movie/book to well, then later after watching HHTYD (one of my fav movies) it hit me how much I loved the architecture and lore of the land, so that’s when I started to come up with the whole thing The most proud part of the land is the main attraction which was a B&M launched wing coaster, you’re suppose to be flying on the wings of a dragon not only that, when you see a wing coaster from the ground looking up it looks like wings spread out so that’s what gave me the idea for that, the whole ride would be themed around rocks and buildings over pathways, it’s pretty neat The one thing I could do to improve the area is add a bit more flat-rides and maybe a bit more of a village area to land and maybe work on the front entrance, I would have added more water features as well

    • @ThemeParkForge
      @ThemeParkForge ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be so cool. HTTYD would make for a great theme park! The movies are well known with lots of scenic cliff sides and trees and nordic style buildings with dragon motifs. I think the waterfall would work if fashioned after several waterfalls we saw while in Norway. It would not be a straight down drop, but rather several descents with some twists and turns landing in a pool and just when you think you are safe, another descent! Your ride Sounds amazing and well thought out. That understanding of lines is important. The line interaction can be part of the ride.

    Your voice is so calming and idk why. Did you say stalactites btw at 5:17? That sounds unsafe for the ship, unless you meant stalagmites. (Also according to the Disney rules in creating a ride, if the wait time is ever to reach 15 minutes or more, than there should be areas where a wall cuts the guests off from seeing the actual length of the line, and some kind of entertainment, such as television screens.) Wait why is the cost labeled in green? This ride sounds expensive. 7:19 NO WHAT THE HELL WHY WOULD THAT BE FEASABLE THERE ARE NO HANDELBARS?!?

    • @ThemeParkForge
      @ThemeParkForge ปีที่แล้ว

      I always get stalagmites and stalactites confused, haha. The cost meters are confusing. My brother said the same thing and I told him in this case it's good to be expensive becuase it's about making the ride as grand as possible. But obviously it would be better to have the best ride at the lowest cost, so what I said doesn't make sense lol. Most water rides do not have handle bars becuase it's more dangerous becuase of drowning.

    If I had a few more spending bucks I would include refreshment of some variety. Food makes for another element of the fun and engagement to the attraction. Maybe zebra popcorn or monkey bread and some sort of beverage. If you could grow your living wall from seed from a fast growing, drought tolerant plant then you could do more of it. A photo op would also be cool, engaging, and cost little. Maybe the sign doubles as the photo op?
