this video was really good and gave me a lot to think about. Normally im a little dismissive of nocturne's characters but I'm glad you gave me something to think about! Nocturne's really cool and yeah it's unfortunate a lot of people won't analyze these characters. I love the older megaten games and it makes me happy to see someone notice important details I'll subscribe and i hope to see more cool content from you soon! 🙂

I played this game long before I watched Rose of Versailles and like the connection blew my mind, ofc Isabeau is inspired by Lady Oscar only someone as top tier as Oscar could inspire someone as incredible as Isabeau. I remember thinking the line "the fictional kingdom of France." Was funny when I played it, but now I am just have another reason why SMT IV is one of the greatest of all time.

I honestly don't know how someone could love Isabeau but hate Makoto. In fact, and I say this as someone who does like Isabeau, there's arguably more to Makoto than there is Isabeau.

Keep in mind Stephen basically says if he decided to deviate from the rules that he willingly follows YHVH and the other corrupt pieces of the axiom would be removed faster than thought. He also clips away unwanted possible realities simply interacting with the various Messiahs. He even lets you attempt to beat the shit out of him with all the prior Messiahs, takes no damage, then proceeds to say you're progressing nicely and leaves.

Perfect? More memorable? She's pretty good but Toki, Asahi and most Persona girls far outclass her. This is objectively true, by the way. "Affecting the story" of course the does. She does not submit to her man, a huge negative to real men.

I feel that it was intentional, considering that Bloodborne pulled the same trick with Gehrman when you fight him in that masterpiece of a fight. Though that fight in a bit of a twist is more sad an tragic than menacing considering what happens when you beat him.

I dont get the appeal for these kinda videos. The opinions presented are really flat and without substation or argumentation. Its just "this is how I feel" and then moving on, its not interesting. Also clasic misunderstanding of what they were trying to do with Ann. You can still not like it, but they were going for a story about her taking back her sexuality and using it for herself instead of being used by other people. Thats why her phantom thief outfit is a domanatrix, a pretty straight forward idea of sexual control. The scene you show from Shido's palace is a culmination of her trying to be a femm fatale and actually succeeding. Its not just a joke, theres more going on. Like in the nude painting scene, she never actually shows anything. Maintaining control over her body by her standards. Also how are Iseabu and Makoto similar? That could have been an interesting exploration on how you feel. Im guessing because they both deal with the idea of finding ones own moral compas? I wish you actually delved into that.

Axiom assigns humans the ability to assign answers to a phenomenon, this results in Gods and other such entities to take shape. YHVH is not so much an avatar per-se but rather the results of humanity's observation gone awry due to a positive feedback loop effect. A positive feedback loop is when an input causes the future steps to repeat themselves without resolving. For instance, if stage 1 of a 3-stage program is finished, stages 2 and 3 will endlessly continue without returning to equilibrium. Humans for the most part are the reason why shit went south. SMT1 explains this with the information dump Echidna gave us at TDL.
