Good video bud, i cant believe how little you guys pay for gasoline! We pay the equivalent to $8.90 a gallon just now and it up to as much as €12.50 a few years ago.. (Scotland) I run my heater on Kerosene which is $6.36 a gallon.

does the heater have to be turned off before increasing the voltage?

I use old computer psu to run my heaters. Plenty of power, safety features already built and easy to work with. when i first started using them, I would adjust the output up to around 13v and put a small 12v battery wired parallel with the psu. A simple UPS. if the power goes out the battery takes over and keeps the heater running. a couple shotky diodes and a charge controller from aliexpress andyour good. eliminates the chance of the heater suddenly shutting down and melting something.

E85 contains UP TO 85% ethanol. It is not guaranteed to have 85%. There are hygrometers made to test the alcohol content.

When I mix gasoline into black diesel I buy Non ethanol super unleaded as I burns cleaner and won't destroy the tubing.

Hey. Wondering if you have done any more with the diesel heater. I'm looking to do a set up very similar to yours. E85 in Minnesota ya know. Mostly wondering about the soot build up. Have you opened it up to clean? How was it?

I use an old Xbox 360 power brick/cord. Wired the heater right into the side that plugs to your console. EZ peasy

I have wanted to experiment with preheating the waiste oil to aid in combustion. I thought about a stainless line wrapped a couple times around the exhaust (with an air gap) to pre heat and make it burn better. Have you played with that before?

Do you have any specs on it? I'm looking at one now and wondering how you feel it would be for someone looking to get into tailwheel and am all purpose hours builder.

13.8 is the magic number , that is why you can buy 12 o 13.8 volt DC to DC converters of various capacities. They will produce rated voltage with a lower voltage input .

Ok, as it's one year ago... What has your burn chamber looked like ? Any issues ? I had a weird fuel pump issue plug the whole unit. Fires up, pumps, then slowly looses temp until it shuts off (About 5 minutes) Started checking pump and suddenly it just quit ? Ok, ordered the newer quiet one with the filter on it already (I still filter before it gets there) Ran longer but same issue ? I run 2 X 8K off the same source. So I know it wasn't the fuel. I started to think it was the controller, but wanted to check the chamber for signs of what was going on. Completely plugged with this black powder. Everything wiped out easily as we had no solids? I mean everything packed. New muffler (Anodized one on Amazon) , exhaust pipe and chamber packed? Never seen anything like it. Cleaned everything up, and it was a complete mess... Put her back together with new pump and been running days on high without issue. So for any issue where it starts, hits about 120 C, then tapers off... It's plugged. Hope it helps someone.

Alpine mode reduces fuel input as well. Contradictory to say don't and then say do.

Your source of used motor oil can, and likely will have synthetic oil mixed in, which will reduce combustion potential. Mixing with pump fuels, and running on high, will extend your time between issues😊

Do you have a link to the small pump you have mounted on the table to pump to the filters to your holding tank?

We tried waste oil and caused problems in time so we stick with Heating oil and happy days.

YOU HAVE MORE MONEY TIED UP doing the crap you do with car oil.. take the USED CAR OIL SOAK IT UP IN A RAG PUT IT IN TO woody burner for heat... The diesel heater. burn what it is met to burn. RED DYE DIESEL OR HOME HEATING OIL... E85. spend the extra $2 and get the regular diesel.... But thats not me. You go rite ahead and spend big bucks on what you want to do..... USED OIL will create carbon tar buildup..... will ruin the internal part of the motor... i am not saying how i obtain diesel for no cost.... Right on man ! My converter came set right on 12v and on start up of the cdh I was measuring 11.7 - 11.8 v Turned it up to 13.3 v , and man what a difference. The fan rpms ramp up significantly ! Thanks for the info !

I have regulated power supply think I will add a UPS and Arduino unit to turn on automatic timer which will sense when unit has gone through cooldown and effectively ensure unit stays shut down until + power restored. Just read up simple NAND ICs and a some relays can be used for effective homemade UPS. Adding in some type of Arduino controller I should be able to add in simple timer circuit or basic code to power everything down until power restored after cooldown achieved. Will see what I come up with, like idea of building own UPS setup with small battery to get it through a cooldown cycle.

I've burned about 15 liters of my synthetic waste oil in my diesel heater, and once it gets warmed up it runs very clean and hot, but I do have to give it a clean out of carbon buildup around the precombustion chamber and everywhere else, not a problem though, it would still always keep going through the night and still start, even when burning unevenly from blockage.

In the Netherlands and Belgium the goverment do anything to tax any fuel or energie forms. A gallon regular sets you back 9 usd. And the 1800 usd a year road tax. No matter what fuel, those taxes are sky high. Lamp oil 3 dollar per liter. Frying oils 3 dollar per liter. Colemanfuel and Alkylate petrols 6 dollar per liter. This EU Nazi project is terrible. Meanwhile the Aviation and maritime transport in Amsterdam dont pay any excise taxes on fuels like Kersosine. Criminal world this Doomed Nazi project EU. Burning wood sets you back 450 dollar per 1 US Cord. Prices are nuts here.

Filter all you want, but motor oil is going to carbon things up quickly. You'll be forever taking it apart to clean. Good luck

I am currently doing something similar with a 3 hp diesel. Starting with diesel. Then running on waste oil. Then finishing with diesel.

You have a filtration system for solids but what about water? Used motor and trans oil typically has water in suspension. Do you have a way to remove it? Otherwise you may be doing damage to your truck engine.
