I have this exact problem, thanks for the video guys!!!
Do u prefer B4 that restores the handle’s capabilities like it was brand new? Or do u wish u go for the B6 for increase handling and reduce bodyroll, no dive, and back dip when u throttle, but sacrifice the comfort a bit?
@toyotabrony it's perfect for my daily driving purposes. I smash this car around like it's a track build and never have any issues. I also ended up putting new poly bushes for the front suspension arms and new bushes for both the sway bars and its got barely any body at all. Best part is how well it soaks up the bad pot holes. B6 is little pricey and harsh but at that price point I would go buy orange koni struts on sale instead.
@@gasNgears now are the B4 bit firmer since even though it’s oem replacement, they make a slight firmer than oem?
@toyotabrony the shot oem that I took out that were no absolutely trash. These ones corner/handle great around corners. Still firmer but have a nice rebound to them.
@@gasNgears now who’s the bodyroll, nose dive, and back dip when throttle from green light? And did it settle down a bit after first week?
Just watching the video again , and i have to say it's very informative , the bit towards the end , the gear shift to get the trans fluid circulating , i would've never thought of that , Thanks 👍
Does fuel cap look when doors are locked?
@lmhholding yes it does. All the systems work the same.
Yes thanks for the help, knew everything about my 64 impala, but nothing about one of these, seen in the comments that someone has the same problem as me, ran fine, put 91 gas as always it acts like it wanted to start, but won't and after a few times it wouldn't even hit, after setting a few it does the same thing
@Daniel-e1k3n does the fuel pump makes priming noise after you turn on the ignition? It does sound like a fuel pump issue bud.
Hi. Im installing KSP spacers in my Ford SUV, the questions is with torque specification I should be using: from factory or the KSP specification?
@duvieskytg711 I would torque the spacers to the hub with Ford specs and wheel to the spacers with KSP spec, mainly because KSP knows the grading of the metal and would suggest tq value accordingly. Is the spacer specific to your suv?
Hi, which website did you order the stuff from?
@samtohidi1631 I got a great deal from Facebook marketplace on the pulley and the pulley puller tool was from amazon.com.
could you just remove the the bottom radiator hose to drain the radiator ?
Yes, you can
For the front, lift both wheels of the car at the same time on jack stands. Sway bar links will be much easier. Also just need the pinch bolt, sway bar link bolt, and 3 top nuts. I just did this in a university parking lot. P.S. Very nice looking car ! ! !
@@Mini-Driver appreciate the information. Thank you.
Poor fuel mileage is from anti-knock agents, anti-oxidants, metal deactivators, lead scavengers, anti-rust agents, anti-icing agents, upper-cylinder lubricants, detergents, ethanol and dyes put into gasoline in 2024. This results in poor fuel mileage, but you cant stop it.
wHEN DO YOU UNPLUG THE CONNECTOR? BEFORE OR AFTER YOU REMOVE THE PAN?
You can remove the plug without removing the pan. It does makes it easier with the pan off though.
Great video! With this unit can you control the music from the steering wheel switches?
Yes, steering controls remain functional after this module. That was one of the main reasons why I liked it for my own car. Cheers.
Don't need to pull shroud...pull starter through bottom bend your water hose away and yoink.
Thanks for this! I'm going to follow this tutorial when I fit my new seats!
The small medal pieces that you took out probably did more harm then good...
uleiu din CONVERTIZOR cum curge??
what where your problems with it to cause you to change them? i have some extremely harsh ride . To the point i have to stop and check for damage every time i hit any size pothole. it sends a massive impact shockwave through the entire vehicle.
Exactly what I was looking for👍
What was the parts used to get the filter in the lid
Good evening, please share the on line store you purchased all the parts filter etc..
Don't have to remove the tie rod. Pinch bolt yes (18mm), link stabilizer (16mm), 3 top nuts (13mm). Did the job yesterday.
I only needed to see how to correctly re-attach the door panel to a W163. Thanks for the great content!
Great job fellas 👍🏿
for the wiring four direction light?
@williamagostini5043 you can connect the blinkers to the security module under the steering column, that way you'll have the working flashers while locking and unlocking. Cheers.
@@gasNgears Do you have any pictures or directions on where to connect exactly?
Crazy that the dealer and some independent German car shops want $900 to $1000 to do this fvcking job. Insane.
@Big_Island_Boi Dealers are unreal with their rates and shop times. Nothing is cheap at the shops, unfortunately. It's a fairly straightforward job and doesn't take too much time.
My transmission slips under sudden power, so i simply pull over turn engine off for half a minute if that & restart engine & drive off...sure the filters dirty & the solenoids need changing but who has money these daze for that...?
Sounds like your transmission plug adapter is bad. $10 part off Rock Auto. Common issue, the electrical plug as mentioned in this video.
Great work! just a quick question, whats the parts number for the fuel pump, mine failed today, and im looking for parts. Thanks
@zuochen5909 www.pelicanparts.com/byv-cooper-cooper-s-r50-r52-r53/b-genuine-mini/c-fuel-intake_c-fuel-system_c-fuel-pumps Hope this helps bud.
How did yours act when it went out, mine hits like it wanted to, then nothing, set for a while and then same thing, if you see this please let me know
@Daniel-e1k3n easy way to check is to remove the rear seat and the tap on the fuel pump itself. Most of the time, it will start working for a little bit. That way, you can tell if it is dying or if the issue is somewhere else. Hope it helps.
Really useful video, many thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
How long for RTV to set . and what is RTV , I'm a novice just learning . Great Video 👍
hi buddy, thanks for your helpful video. you said “not registering my keys anymore”. did you talk with an ecu programmer about that issue? w163 has aam module and one of ecu programmers around here said we can reprogram it. and one another ecu programmer said aam module issue cant be fixed. so i’m confused before trying your solution.
Hi bud, my module was busted too so instead of chasing old modules and reprogramming I went for an easier solution. The biggest question is, is it worth it to pay all that money for module/key reprograming on these old suv's! I would just use the multimeter to see if the wires have operational and just tap into them the way I did. But if you wanna keep the ML pristine and don't mind spending the coin then the reprogramming would be the best choice. Cheers.
Great video, i am just doing my triumph tiger 955 because it has a sticky clutch,
Alright guys, top job but I do have one thing for you. The inner tripod CV joint needs a semi liquid grease like the texture of what came out of it. Using the graphite grease that comes with these boot kits kills the needle bearings in the tripod leading to premature failure.
@MoldMinis appreciate the information. Hopefully, people see this and take advantage of it! Cheers
Is there a special name for that type of grease ?
@@gracereacts3628 Hi, yes you need the GKN Tripode Joint Grease (Part No GKN-MS9U025). GKN were the OEM suppliers of the driveshafts on the R53. Like I said above it’s a semi liquid that doesn’t clog the needle bearing rollers like a thick lithium grease.
I've watched you other video too for the fuel pump itself. Did you do the fuel pump or the fuel filter first? Which one is more important to do first? I would imagine the filter first so you're not running your brand new fuel filter dry when trying to depressurize? Just a thought.
I had to do the fuel pump first, it died on me before I even made it home after purchasing the car. If you have no issues with your fuel pump then, I rekn you should just change the filter first! It would be beneficial to get the dirty filter out so your pump can work properly. Cheers!
I'd be interested in your take on the W163 ml 270 cdi ?
@Leo70780 those are one of the best series of W163, in my opinion. Too bad they were not sold in North America. Those engines, with timely maintenance, can last forever. They are getting up there in age nowadays, so the turbo needs replacing or rebuilding. Common problems I heard of are to do with the steering rack. I would buy a cdi W163 in heart beat as long as there is somewhat required of maintenace performed in the past.
Awesome video - very clear and professional
Hey friend , quick question, I have the same car as ur working on ML320 do I need to empty out my oil before I start loosening the bolts for the valve cover ?? ❓
@eyeando7356 no bud, you are working on the top so need to drop the oil but make sure you vaccum the area before removing the valve covers. Once they are open then you gotta make sure no dirt goes in your engine.

Thank you for the video! Are there fittings that go onto the fuel line? I installed yhe line back on and its leaking fuel. Thank you.
I would look to see if the face of the fuel lines got scratched or nicked at all during the removal mate. Sometimes it may look ok until further inspection we don’t see slight imperfections that lead to fuel leak under pressure. Could be a something in the way, small enough to cause an imperfect seal. Cheers.
Other youtuber,s should take notes here! Very good video both in showing how its done and non-nonsense talk. Cheers from Norway! I,m in the middle of changing the same as shown this video shows AND lower ball joint/upper joint/arm... And EVERYTHING was/are stuck! Had to cut with grinder, and with upper nut lower ball joint, i had to drill a series of holes on both sides of the nut before i split it with a chisel...
@kjetilkjellevold8054 thanks for the kind words sir. I try to film the stuff, the way I would prefer to see if I was watching someone else do the job.
What symptoms did you have before you replaced the tie rods?
@seankellogg6154 I had really loose steering feel to my ML. It required a lot of input to turn and there was a tonne of false play in the steering. It was vibrating at higher speeds as well. Easiest way to check would just undo the nut and feel the elbow joint. More than likely it's shot because of the sheer weight of these things and how long they have been around for. Hope it helps. Cheers.
@@gasNgears thanks for the fast response. I’m thinking I have the same issue on my 2007 GL 320. Even though I replaced the rack with one from FCP Euro, something seems loose and the steering wanders. The outer tie rods are tight when I replaced the rack but I’ll have to take them off to check the inner ones.
@seankellogg6154 no worries, hope you get it sorted. 👍
I would like to pay you to fix my r53 coopers!!!!!
@brianchoi86 Appreciate the kind comment, bud, but due to the liability factor, I don't work on other people's cars.
@gasNgears would you take my r53 s for a different contents? I will pay for parts and labour. I really want to need to fix it and I really don't have time to do... or is there any possible way to contact you privately?

As a fellow canadian triumph triple owner, it does suck trying to find parts here. I'll also be opting for the EBC clutch kit, looks like fortnine stocks them. Thanks for the great vid!

Thank you for this awesome video🍺
Thank you very much for this video. Following your instructions I was able to replace one of the gaskets in my ML350. Great videos!
Trips me out that all these videos don't utilize the drain plug that screams drain me here.
I couldn't help but notice with the bonnet open there was this big , what looks like a filter , is that standard for the W163 ml , great video by the way 👍
@Leo70780 thank you. No, it's not a stock filter. I put a cone filter instead of a stock airbox on mine for better induction noise. Makes it feel a bit quicker on the top end of the Rev range. Possibly a plasibo effect due to more noise 😆
This video helped me a lot. Thanks for making it!
Agreed! Thank you! Especially the tools needed 👍 screenshot that!
I'm looking at a w163 ml 320 1999 would a 2002 be better , I'm not sure .
The engine is slightly bigger, and the exterior and interior has slight changes. 2002 had better headlights and slight hp increase. Earlier 320s had a bit better gas mileage than the 350s.
Thanks for the Reply 😊 @@gasNgears
