    I really hate those S hooks on ratchet straps, i find them a PITA to secure, once I’d used claw hook straps I never wanted to encounter an S hook again! Just roll them in a similar manner but leave the tail longer, turn it 90° give the bundle a couple of wraps and thread the end through the turns to secure!

    @nopenope5203 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yeah... I hate this. I didn't have to watch more than 30 seconds to know I'd NEVER use this way to store my straps. For many reasons. The biggest one is I always separate my ratchet and strap when not in use. This allows me to be able to check the integrity of the strap and ratchet without interfering with one another. "Is the strap fraying? Is the ratchet frame warped or rusty?" This is what I like to check for while I'm putting everything up. It's hard to check it all when it's still all one big mess. The other big thing I HATE having to deal with is the "pull through" technique. Where you waste an extra 30 seconds to feed the end of the strap back through the ratchet so the input and output of the strap are on the same side. It makes it a pain in the ass to take out slack or adjust a load, it makes it a pain in the ass to remove the strap from a load when you're done hauling it, and it makes it a pain in the ass trying to separate the strap from the ratchet when I'm done with the load. The last reason I don't like this way of storing things is because I like to store the ratchet and strap in separate areas. It's important the ratchet stays dry when it's being stored to prevent the buildup of rust and make the ratchet mechanism stick. The straps themselves however are less important to keep out of the weather. They also get dragged through dirt and mud all the time and it generally makes me not want to put them in the cleaner parts of my vehicle. All in all, this video is probably only good for the lazy or the city folk. The kind of people who'd rarely actually use these straps anyways.

    • @gerikbensing
      @gerikbensing 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That other method people do is pretty terrible. For the strange folk that like to separate their straps I guess this method doesn’t really seem very enticing, but for the rest of us common folk I reckon it’s pretty great.

    Slow as fuck and mostly useless. Imagine rolling 20 straps like that wasting few minutes on each. And they aren't ready to use after you unwrap them like that, you need to roll them back again to throw the working end over the cargo. Just mill with two hands in a nice loose loop, takes few seconds per strap and leaves them ready to deploy.

    • @gerikbensing
      @gerikbensing 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm, I'm considering doing a head to head on a few different methods to see which way overall saves the most time. I'm imagining all those 20 straps loosely looped up in a bag getting mighty tangled after a few days in the truck.

    there is a whole-ass mystery cement bunker in the woods where i live! its kind of locally famous because its clearly a fallout bunker style room, but it was never fully completed. its built into the side of a hill and has everything except for a door and furnishings. its on public land and no one has ever figured out who made it or even when. the best guess is it was poured in the late 60's and that's just going off of people's memory of it being there. there is no indication of where it is other than people tell each other where to find it. occasionally people will camp inside it, but it will likely cave in eventually because there is no ceiling support. its literally just a large concrete box with a door and concrete piping for ventilation.

    • @gerikbensing
      @gerikbensing 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is amazing! I'd try to bring in some posts to try and shore up the ceiling to keep that unusual gem around for longer. I discovered an abandoned Adirondack lean-to structure not far from this site as well I'm amazed no one tries to use. It's taken a hit from a fallen tree, but wouldn't take too much to bring back to usefulness.

    • @gerikbensing

    Bravo! Excellent video, sir! You’ve made my hour of flipping through bullshit shorts worth it for once. Practical knowledge delivered posthaste with a dash of humor midway through (and to button it up at the end). My faith in humanity is (almost) restored!
