Paddleboarding (SUP) Silver Lake, CA
While I was searching for a new hat in Mammoth, a friendly clerk in one of the sports shops told me about Silver Lake. I had mentioned I was planning to paddleboard while in the area and he said Silver Lake was a great paddleboarding spot. He was absolutely right! Just to walk down to the lake you get to go through this lovely grove of Aspen trees. The panoramic views you get out on the lake are incredible. My friend Sarah and I dropped our anchors and ate a few snacks while taking in the views for 20 minutes. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon in the mountains. This is definitely a lake I want to come back to and explore more in the future.💙

Paddleboarding (SUP) Twin Lakes, Mammoth
มุมมอง 4421 วันที่ผ่านมา
This video is two things I love coming together: paddleboarding and mountain lakes. I had rented a paddleboard on Twin lakes a year ago, but this time I wanted to try out my own inflatable paddleboards. While there were bursts of wind at times the weather was perfect otherwise out on the lake. I also got to introduce my friend Sarah to paddleboarding for the first time. I think I just might hav...

Trying something a little different this episode by traveling to different locations. Let me know in the comments if you like this format. Also pardon the wind noise, our audio set up is still fairly primitive. This was our second time visiting El Malpais National Monument, and let me tell you it is just as spectacular as I remembered it. This park has a special place in my heart because I wasn...

Exploring The Cliffs of Ireland
มุมมอง 203 หลายเดือนก่อน
One of my favorite places I visited in Ireland was the Cliffs of Moher. There is a reason these cliffs are a must see when going to Ireland. The juxtaposition of the peaceful green rolling hills on top of these jagged cliffs with waves from the Atlantic Ocean crashing against them is just so iconic. We also saw a sheep herd that had one little lamb in it which I’d say was the highlight of the d...

What an experience!!! I had never witnessed a total solar eclipse before, so when the opportunity came up to go to Texas to be in the path of totality I knew I was NOT going to miss it! Highly recommend for everyone to experience this at lea...

You can’t just visit one castle when you are in Ireland. Each one has a unique history. Blarney Castle is said to have gotten its name from a comment of disdain made by Elizabeth I of England. Cahir castle still has cannon balls in its walls from past sieges, and the lake around Dunguaire Castle rises and falls so drastically during different times of the day and different seasons that you coul...

Visiting Death Valley 7 years later…It has a lake now!
มุมมอง 525 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was a trip that had a lot of mishaps. Because of a high wind advisory in the area we had to car camp instead of tent camp on our way to Death Valley. Winds of 40 mph and tents don’t mix. On top of that I wish I could have gone to see Lake Manly a little earlier in the year when it was fuller, BUT there was still plenty of water to wade around in like you were at a lakeside beach. It’s not ...
Visiting Painted Desert and Petrified Forest

It’s hard to comprehend that there used to be a forest on this now desert landscape. Just shows how time changes a place. According to the NPS, during the time we were there, 40+ MPH winds had pushed the water about 2 miles north causing the amount of water you could see to be less and speeding up evaporation. Still, it was amazing to see what's normally a giant salt flat with water in it!

A huge thanks to the random guy who was more than gracious enough to not only film me going up the ladder but haul my GoPro rig up too with him! I gotta say Bandelier was amazing, and the climb up the ladders to the alcove house was worth it, given my fear of heights/ladders.

Calvin the editor here: For reference, the flying footage was released in June of 2016, the testing of the rig in the ocean was released in July of 2016, and what became my intro video with the coin was released in December of 2016 and was shot just before Thanksgiving. Hope that clears things up for anyone who's interested. In short, Danielle has a TON of talent when it comes to filming and that makes editing the final product so much nicer for both my channel and hers. Also, sorry if the audio is a bit of a mess we had my Tascam DR-05 running the built-in mics sitting inside the firepit with no dead-cat to drop any wind noise and I ran extensive audio correcting in Audacity to make it a bit better. I do have a Rhode shotgun mic but this was purchased well after we shot the first few episodes! Hopefully, that will help make things a bit better as I am trying to avoid resorting to a handheld mic/multiple mics and a mixer for simplicity's sake.

I am so glad we got to kayak/paddleboard out there and that the local wildlife cooperated too! The closer you get to Moss Landing harbor the more harbor seals/otters you see and the farther back you go the more birds you tend to find. Even if you do not go onto the water, by Moss Landing harbor there are some elevated walkways you can go out on to observe the wildlife from a distance, you may want to bring binoculars for that to get a close-up view.
