PARASITE - Nick Drake
I believe this is the correct way to play Parasite from pink moon with all its subtle changes from bars to bars. Despite all the tabs out there or videos to teach how to play this one. To my ears, there's no alternate pattern between the 6th and 5th string for the bass part. Only the 6th string is repeatedly played for the bass, giving it this particular ambient sounding.
Recorded on my old Yamaha LS16 with two mics from Warm Audio, the WA-87 R2 for the guitar and WA-47jr for the voice

HANGING ON A STAR - Nick Drake
มุมมอง 8198 หลายเดือนก่อน
One of Nick Drake's final recordings, 'Hanging on a Star' stands apart from his three main albums but was released posthumously on the album 'Made to Love Magic.' I have always been captivated by its hypnotic picking pattern, sound, and rhythm. I made an instrumental version that you can watch here th-cam.com/video/oP0QyElupfQ/w-d-xo.html
THREE HOURS - Nick Drake
มุมมอง 7569 หลายเดือนก่อน
This particular composition by Nick poses many challenges, marked by intricate polyrhythms and dynamic shifts in the bar structure. Maintaining precision throughout and adhering faithfully to the intricate rhythmic framework of the piece is an exceptionally demanding task. I am filled with pride and gratitude for the invaluable contribution of my exceptionally talented musician friends, Remi "O...

MARCEL'S THUMB - Thom Bresh
มุมมอง 184ปีที่แล้ว
Exactly a year ago, the great fingerpicker Thom Bresh, son of Merle Travis, sadly passed away. I wanted to pay a tribute to him as he influenced my way of playing a lot with his video tutorials. Here's one of his composition dedicated to his friend the late Marcel Dadi. Hope you like it ! RIP Thom Bresh, we miss you !
MAN IN A SHED - Nick Drake
มุมมอง 722ปีที่แล้ว
I'm very proud to have recorded one of my favorite Nick Drake song with two great musicians that also happen to be old friends of mine : Remi "One Take" Richard, and "Endlessly Unsatisfied" Dawn. Make no mistake, this song is really hard to play for all instruments and the vocal. There are no tabs for the Double Bass nor for the Piano so the song had to be worked out by ear and feel. However th...
FAR LEYS - Nick Drake (on Baritone)
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
Since I've got my Baritone I've experimented and tried to see what pieces would sound great at a lower key. I thought this rare Nick Drake one deserved to be recorded on a Baritone as it sounds amazing. You can check my oldest video where I play this piece in its original key. PLACE TO BE - Nick Drake (strumming version)
มุมมอง 1.5Kปีที่แล้ว
Chords version of Place To Be from Nick Drake's album pink moon, in its original key. Nick was tuned to roughly A 450Hz which is not commun, but probably a choice of his, since the rest of the Album seem to be tuned to the same pitch.
PLACE TO BE - Nick Drake (fingerstyle version)
มุมมอง 4.2Kปีที่แล้ว
This version is coming from Nick's home recording and is a rare alternate take of Place To Be played in fingerstyle. Its played half a step above Pink Moon's version, so I decided to match this version's key and pitch reference (Roughly A 450Hz, like on pink moon)
LES BARRICADES MYSTERIEUSES (on a Baritone Guitar) - François Couperin
มุมมอง 172ปีที่แล้ว
Les Barricades mystérieuses (in its original French spelling "Les Baricades mistérieuses" or in English "The Mysterious Barricades") is a beautiful harpsichord piece written by the French composer François Couperin in 1717. This piece is played in many different keys nowadays, but I always thought it sounded great on a Baritone guitar (G Maj) Guitar : Baritone Fan Fret by Thomas Fejoz Microphon...

Neil Gow's Lament for The Death Of His Second Wife (arr Clive Carroll v1)

Another great arrangement from Clive Carroll of this famous old Scottish fiddle tune called "Neil Gow's Lament for The Death Of His Second Wife". Clive made 2 arrangements of this tune, and here is the first one ! EDIT : The second arrangement is now available as well This guitar is a brand new Dreadnaught Baritone from the amazing French Luthier Thomas Fejoz, in Jura Spruce, and Olive Ash back...

Petrol and Chlorine - Acoustic Cover (own arrangement)
no easy feat.
One of my favorite songs ever. Well done!
Nicely done.superb!
Especially the voice "rhythms" . I keep trying to catch it but you got it good!
Sounds super nice! What tuning did you use for this, CGCFGE?
Thanks, yes it's the correct tuning
Stunning performance - artistic and brilliantly played!
Bravo tonton Jason, c'est nous, tes neveux. Ta musique est superbe.👍🎸🎵💪
Great cover jason! I really appreciate that you try to play the songs as they are played in the original ❤ You kind of motivated me to make some content myself. I covered day is done by nick drake and i also tried to play it as accurate to the original as possible. There are probably some parts not a 100% like on five leaves left but its pretty close i think. Here is the link, would be nice if you can give it a listen: th-cam.com/video/Cg5TqYrhCCw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DJb6bgzzlQNLPBNE It took me over a year to find out the tabs and learn how to play it. Thats why im so impressed that you can make a new video every one or two months.
Well played, and nice guitar, too. I have been looking for Clive's arrangement of this tune. I did not know he did two versions of it. I only know of the TNAG sessions with Clive, here on TH-cam. If you don't mind me asking, where did you find the arrangements?
Thanks a lot. Well he played another arrangement during one of his live night session on youtube. In any case, Clive sent me those 2 arrangements he made a while ago (He plays them slightly differently from the tab anyway, so I'm in kind of between depending what part I like the best). I guess you can easily figure them out with my videos.
Very admirable attempt
Could you please tell me the tuning, i am searching it for months!
I use EG#BF#BD#
@@Jason_Music Thanks a lot!
Thats awesome! I used to play this one by strumming but wow now I want to learn to do that!
Amazing job
Great job bro.
Beautifully played.
Thanks for it, from a Fan of Toe! Amazing
Dieu que c'est bon du Nick Drake.. C'est joliment bien fait.. Bravo 👏🎶🎸
Boss
I've learned how to play this song on guitar and it is so difficult. You made it look effortless!
Tuning sounds like C-G-C-F-C-E. Same as Pink Moon.
I have listened to so many covers of this song while I try to learn it myself. This is by far the closest to the original I have found, I mean it's pretty much exactly 100% correct. Good stuff man!
Thanks that's what I try to do as best I possibly can on all Nick Drake's songs I cover.
❤ enjoying it
Ace mate
extremely well done, deserves way way more views than it has
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏼
This sounds absolutely spot on Jason ! You have good ears sir, on top of fingers and voice.
Your guitar work is incredible
Hey man, love the cover! One of the best I’ve heard- do you have reliable tab for this? Cheers
Thanks, no unfortunately I don't, sorry. Most of the tabs out there or even covers on youtube are not perfectly accurate, so you have to use your ears if you want to play it exactly like Nick. Feel free to use my version to work on it if you want ;)
What’s the tuning brother
great job
Well done Jason! You've made me a very happy guy :)
Beautifully rendered on your lovely Nippon Yam and the fingerpicked version is my choice of the two versions. Ditto Place to Be… you look like a man who knows his onions. Bravo
💙💙💙
Nice guitar work.
Nailed it, Awesome ! Thanks for keeping his music ALIVE.
Really good. Thanks for helping to carry the torch of Nick’s music
Wonderful performance!
I also have to say, that guitar is incredible. I've played one Avalon and it was fantastic but I've never seen a multi-scale model before, that's so cool. Was is it a custom job? Is it 24.75" to 25.5" or does it actually go into Baritone territory?
Hi, yes, it's a custom one that I've ordered few years back. I've had quite a lot of issues with this guitar... The ziricote cracked in the back in multiple places and now has many cleats in place to fix it (that wood is unforgiving with RH changes),.The neck was incorrectly done in the first place by Avalon with my requirement (670-648mm, so not a baritone) and had to be redone by Avalon after I shipped it back. Even with the new correctly made neck, it still had issues over time and needed to be levelled and refretted by my local luthier. Aside from all those issues, the sound is absolutely incredible and is exactly what I asked them to make. So I still love like this guitar. Its tone is far better than many high end Luthier's instruments I've played that are worth 2 or 3 times the price of this one.
@@Jason_Music ahhh man, sorry to hear you've had so much trouble with it, but it really is a beautiful guitar and it sounds incredible. Thanks for answering! Appreciate it
This is so great. For Long Tomorrow is one of my favorite albums ever, fantastic cover.
Fantastic rendition, hope to see more instrumental covers in the future
Wonderful! Subscribed ❤
I have covered several Nick Drake songs on my other channel th-cam.com/video/ubQHmsuZDqM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sAitAqyJGEHyu94y
Excellent !
Great cover !
Very nice 🎉
How is the guitar tuned?
CGCFCE
@@Jason_Music thanks!
@@RemoSforza The previous video was with the lyrics by the way. On a side note, I played this one exactly as played by Nick Drake, note for note.
Hello, well done beautifull sound, old FG model?, Thanks, Fab
Thanks a lot, it's an old Yamaha LS16 that dates from 2002 if I recall correctly. I bought it pre-owed for very cheap at the time and I really cherish it, not only because it's my first steel stringed guitar, but also because its sound is amazing and has aged so well over the years.
one of my favorite songs, excellent performance! Compliments
Very pretty :)
Incredible
