    Too wide for most cars at 138cm, looks like crap on the car roof. And it's too expensive.

    What happens when the fabric is caught between the fabric at the factory and shipped in this manner. And then I mount it and open it up and there are holes worn threw from the fabric rubbing on the rivets in the frame? Is Ikamper going to remedy the issue? You can't inspect the awning upon delivery until you are able to mount it. Unfortunately because of family illnesses, I was not able to mount it for quite some time. It doesn't change the fact it was packed incorrectly at the factory. I will be contacting Ikamper customer service when I return from this trip. The awning is very nice and easy to open up and take down, it is just disappointing to open it up for the first time and find 3 holes in a $1,800 awning?

    Can the rooftop tent still open with the awning out? The tent box tilts out so is there enough room with the awning box there or do you need to shift the tent to the right on the roofbars to make room?

      I just mounted the 270 on my 4runner paired with the skycamp mini, I had to move the tent over passenger side about 2 inches to allow the lid to clear the awning case when open. I'm using the L brackets supplied with the awning and it will stick out some.

    Good for when you need a basecamp and do not plan to move your rig. Especially if you have a larger family or group of friends. Definitely not for everyone and I do not bring it with me when overlanding. If overlanding the attachable awning works better.

    I bought into the hype and got one. Too tedious to set up and break down. Okay for base camp if you don’t need your vehicle to explore. If you do detach and return expect to readjust everything. It will not line up. Pain in the arse. Not for overlanding. Also you need the tent set up high like in a lifted 4x4 as shown. If you have a low profile mount on the bbed the annex does not fit right. You need to extend the poles very wide making the annex lean and not line up right. Waste of money. Get the attachable awning for extended shade and I got a gazelle gazebo.

    I have a major issue with the iKamper install. I have received the iKamper X-Cover and I have a 2023 Toyota Tundra crewmax limited. I have a mid height rack bed rack system with 4 top load bars. The mounting brackets that came with the iKamper are not so universal. Since I have a mid-height bed rack, I do not have access to the front of the iKamper to use that long hex tool to tighten up the bracket. I can tighten up the rear iKamper brackets but I can’t access the bolt for the front brackets. The bolt is facing the rear but the long tool, design of the bracket, and nut location doesn’t allow the use of your tool. I was able to use my little hex wrench but since the bolt is inside the channel, it took me an hour to tighten both bolts because can only turn about ¼ turn each time. I can’t also really tighten that good. Any advice? What worries me more is that I can't talk to a live person for support. I finally found iKamper number on another website 206-274-8337 but the automated system just tells me to use email.

    Wanted to buy but ran into two issues. Mini is kinda small even for a mini, 50.5” I think. Mattress is a joke for what the unit costs. I shouldn’t have to pay for add-on products for the most fundamental aspects of the tent. As a side sleeper I was warned off of iKamper without upgraded mattress. Finally, make an intermediate size imho for 6 foot beds! That would have maybe pushed me over the edge. I ended up getting a Roam Vagabond with the vestibule, weather liner, lighting system, camp mat, mattress sheet for ~$1000 less than the iKamper Mini. Will miss the super fast setup but that’s probably it.

      Meanwhile, I’m fed up with my Vagabond and planning to get this tent

    • @JamesReedy
      @JamesReedy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trevorsmith4597 what’s your issue with the vagabond? Mine showed up damaged in shipping, it’s minor cosmetic damage but damage all the same. They offered me $500 to keep it but I said let’s go ahead and replace it. What didn’t you like? The iKamper is nearly 5 inches narrower and the mattress is categorically trash for thousands more and $200 in shipping. Inquiring minds wanna know…

    • @trevorsmith4597
      @trevorsmith4597 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JamesReedy Mine is from 2020 but the hardware it came with bound up when installing. Then the rain fly gave out due to rubbing while closed. Bolts loosened up quite a bit which is minor. Paint rubbing off the bottom side. Recently the zippers have broken on the cover. I should say, I drive off road a lot with it. Very bumpy trails in the Rockies so I am tough on it. $500 is quite a bit off. Despite the issues I think I’d be tempted for that price because: They always have fixed things for me. I will say they always went above and beyond to make it right. For what it’s worth, my opinion is the mattresses on all of these feel nearly identical, but the roam might have an edge. What didn’t you like about the ikamper one?

    • @JamesReedy
      @JamesReedy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trevorsmith4597 full disclosure, never laid on the iKamper but just looking at the two and hearing reviews most peeps say if you’re a side sleeper the iKamper mattress is miserable. I mean honestly it looks like the cheapest of the cheap egg crate with, “zones” that are meaningless marketing wank to make you think you’re getting something good. The inflatable mattress they offer looks promising but there goes another $350-400. I’d also want the non-gloss pebbled finish so there goes another whatever that costs. I was set on the iKamper cause it looks extremely tidy. No futzing and faffing with zippers and covers and other BS. Part of me still wants it but it is a breathtaking amount of money for what it is. Esp when you consider to get it where I’d want it it’d cost even more. I got the roam with vestibule, cold weather liner, and some other crap for heaps less than the iKamper. Suppose if I don’t like it I can sell the Vagabond and buy an iKamper. If it was just me and not me and my kid I’d be more tempted by iKamper as it’s more than ample for 1, looks very cozy for 2 in a way vagabond doesn’t appear to be.

    Maybe superb product. But a shame that Ikamper needs to upgrade the matress after delivery of its' roof top tent with stock matress, for the matress quality they should have a look @ vickywood Mighty Oak or Eezi Awn Sword hardshell tent. I don't want the hassle anymore of inflating/deflating matress, their lifespan is too short by the way! Come on Ikamper...

Actually i want to buy an ikamper 3.0 with its annex plus, and i have a mercedes sprinter with a high roof (285cm car high from the ground) will this annex fit or its going to be a bit high from the ground especially when im going to add some roof rack to hold the tent wich going to add some extra 10 centimetres in the total high of the tent from the ground. So to conclude will this annex support 295cm in high from the ground or its going to be lifted off the ground (are the pin rings going to be lifted off the ground ).
