Making a Light Box - PART 2
มุมมอง 20110 หลายเดือนก่อน
Made a light box with panels of stained glass and a little woodworking. In the video, I work out building the box that holds the stained glass pieces that were made in Part 1. There's some problem solving along the way, but the results are eye-popping! This video is Part 2 and covers the woodworking portion of this project. Part 1 covered making the stained glass panels and can be found on my T...

Made a light box with panels of stained glass and a little woodworking. In the video, I describe my process for making stained glass pieces. There's some problem solving along the way, but the results are eye-popping! This video is Part 1 and covers the making of the stained glass panels. Part 2 will cover the woodworking and is coming soon. Here's the link for the foiling machine I talk about ...

automata train completed.3G2

This is my wood automata train engine. Turn the crank and all 8 wheels turn, the pistons go in and out, smoke rises up from the stack, and the engineer's arm goes up and down to ring the bell. It's my first attempt at automata and I'm quite happy with the result!
Haunted House in our garage
มุมมอง 1.7K14 ปีที่แล้ว
A walk through of the nearly complete little haunted house we've built in our garage. David and Jessie are each having a holloween party to bring their friends through and we'll have it open for trick or treaters too.
Dave,Where did you buy the pins??
How many pink sheets did you stack to make the giant tentacle?
great stuff or liquid nail I have used and workd great. also dig a groove and glue pvc pipe in at the beginning makes it a dream instalation you just place over the rebar and no struggling or splitting
Question? Would it be stable enough to put rebar in the ground and place the tentacle over it? I was thinking it might be easier Less chance of it splitting and less chance of passing out. Love the video Great job!
Depending on where you live, maybe. We get pretty strong afternoon wind storms here in the Phoenix area and wanted to be sure it could withstand them. It did! The change I would make if doing this again would simply be to do a better job of sizing the hole I drilled in the tentacle. If it had been 1/8" larger in diameter, it would have still have been a snug fit without the wrestling match.
Could you have cut out the Styrofoam center pieces to fit the pipe or maybe lay the pipe inside the Styrofoam before clamping it all together?
That would've been more effort than needed. Just needed to drill the whole a tad larger.

Absolutely loved this video! I’m making this scene this Halloween and I was wondering how you guys made the ship?
Sorry, I asked the question before reading comments. I found my answer.
I have used great stuff to glue this foam together in the past and it worked really well. I highly suggest it.
That's an interesting idea. The fact that it expands doesn't cause it to separate?
@@davemirl nope. Not at all. I put the Great Stuff on one side and then place the other side on and move them around to squish the Great Stuff. I then use cheap wood skewers to hold the foam in place when the Great Stuff cures.
@@TheJoeFletch Great tip! We'll give it a try next time we do a project with this foam. Thanks!
I’d love to know how you made or used for suction cups?
I just watched the video and they didn’t say how they made them. From what I can tell, they cut pool noodles and glued them to the structure.
Most of them are just Styrofoam rings Michelle found somewhere, probably Amazon or the local hobby store. I honestly don't even remember what she cut the smaller ones from, probably a pool noodle or something like that.
So cute
Building your own creations in a bowling lane legally for no needs?
Do you have a video on how you made the ship
Sadly, I don't. It's nothing fancy though. Just 1/8" ply bent around a few braces. Then some added details with Styrofoam.
Please tell me you got a can of WD-40 for the pulleys. 😏
Wow!!!! I'd love this in my 🏠!!!!!!
That’s pretty ingenious.
It's beautiful, Dave!! You never cease to amaze me with your talents!! Please show more lathe time!! Love watching the transformation!
Very unusual, thanks for sharing. BTW, tighten that hose clamp with a nutdriver.
Was it hard pulling them out of the ground after Halloween?
Not at all. They came right up without issue.
THIS IS COOL !
Did I miss how you made the suction cups ? These seem so tough the way you’re hanging on them trying to get them on the pole . Y’all are so patient . I have to make some of these for a black light golf course. I’m nervous! It’s gonna be a lot of work !

I meant a link to the drill attachment. Is that a wire attachment? Thank you 😊
Do you have a link for the foam shaver tool?
You could use screws next time . They look wonderful! Great idea ! Thank you ! 😊
BTW, I LOVE the panels in your windows.
Thank you, you made my day!
I truly love your design, thanks for sharing your process.
Amazing!!!
Putt putt? 😎
Great job guys! 😊
Best of its kind on the webs ! Easy. Inspiring.
Bro hit me back.. could i have the plans?
Incredible
That's very cool
This is what I’ve been looking for thanks for posting.
Great work
I feel like you should put leaders on the pin ropes, and find a way to hook the string into the wood of the pin rather than using all of that hardware. Other than that, I think this is amazing. I hope it's still in good shape after 2 years.
I found this to be the complete opposite of boring!
Do they ever get tangled up?
They really don't!
Hi Dave. I lOVE this! I'm a game guy and love this stuff. What a great project. Thanks for sharing.
That's dope!!
That's incredible. I understand you don't want to give away your ideas but it would be awesome to see how it works
Dave, MacGyver would be extremely proud of you.
Mate this is sweet
Duckpins?
I wanna know the price of doing this because I’m interested but I play hockey so we already spend a bunch on that lol
How many chips fit in it?
Incredible. I want to build one in my back yard. Could you share the dimensions of the lane, the gutters and the ball return. Please and thank you
Plans to make one?
You killed this project, so glad you shared
Wow awesome. Hi from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
