    The Power of God still moves to heal! You believed, took steps of faith, believing that you would get it healed and BOOM!!!!! No trace of there ever having been one. I too am dealing with an inguinal on the left and I was kinda in denial as well (messed aroun and waited, then went to see a doctor) found out it was indeed an IH. I know that this thing will be healed; your video is a another testament to God at work in peoples lives! Be blessed!😎😎😎😎

    Tom because I will give it a try the following next 2 or 3 months I have some important questions for you: 1) Did you ever have pain from your hernia since the beginning that you realized it? 2 During the period of your healing how would you rank the importance of your "new habits" for not to going out your hernia? i) Physical activity not to be hard i.e. just walking and only the exercises that you describe in your channel, or ii) fasting and generally eating small meals? Did you try those "new habits" separetely to understand their importance or you applied them both together for the entire period of your healing? 3) Now after so long your hernia is in did you try running frequently?

    I would put a lot more faith in this anecdotal account if it was backed up by before and after CT scans, showing what was going on in the tissue. I'm a doubting Thomas, and seeing is believing - particularly if one can see what is happening on the inside, and how it changes with time.

Now it hasn't developed much over the years and its still small but im getting annoyed by it and i think it is possible to get rid off without surgery. my worst hernia was right before my first surgery as a 13 year old kid. Go on the Keto Diet and use the right exercises. I believe that the type of food i ate as a kid also was a factor in me getting a hernia, proteins with lots of sugar isn't a good combination + i remember i overdid some exercises as a kid too

    Hi Tom, Ive been doing yoga for quite a few years and do many of these exercises, however, the exercises around 4mins i have cut back on especially legs in the air, rotating around would feel to much strain on the (small) inguinal hernia. How did you do these, did you have a lot of core strength earlier or was your hernia not affected by this part of the exercises. Seems to me like anything that pushes out the abs is not could be making it worse.e.g. I used to do a lot of boats, but now feel that only a very careful approach works. Any ideas?

    My Dad passed away at 50 because of a hernia surgery. The mesh tore loose and his intestines got tangled up in the mesh and his abdominal cavity was filled with infection and "gunk" and the infection went to his heart and killed him. If you get mesh, be very careful. His surgeon kept saying it was OK it was just healing and clearly it wasn't.

    Hi Tom and thanks for all your effort to provide us with all this very useful information.. I just wanted to ask you about running. Are you running all this time that you try to heal your hernia? I got since October 2023 a left side indirect inguinal hernia that goes in and out all the time. It started with size of a marble and now sometimes reaches the diameter of a golf ball and height of half golf ball. All this time I continued to do as always did, 1 hour calisthenics 2 times a week and 10km 3 times a week. Have you seen any reference during your web and medical literature search about running and INDIRECT inguinal hernia?

    • @tommaher1841
      @tommaher1841 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I haven't read any literature on running with a hernia specifically, but I did not run while my hernia was out. Since it has gone back in I've gotten back into running and have been pushing my runs more than ever before, but I'm only comfortable to do so because the hernia is not out. When it was out I would always prioritize getting it to go back in before continuing exercise, which at that time was usually just walking. When I did go on bigger hikes and such with the hernia, it seemed to aggravate it. I wouldn't have wanted to run with it popping out personally, but if you can't get it to stay in a truss could be helpful.

    • @tommaher1841
      @tommaher1841 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I tried to continue lifting for a while but the hernia often got aggravated, especially from heavy squats. I stopped lifting and did only calisthenics for a bit, but I couldn't even get it to stay in while doing pull-ups and pushups, so eventually I only focused on diet, feasting, and rehab exercises until it healed. I didn't want to do anything while it was out, so for a while my daily challenge was seeing how far I could walk while keeping it in. If it came out, I would lie down to get it back in and then continue. AthleanX has some videos on lifting with a hernia though, you can check them out.

    Thanks Tom for the update! I'm 72, and have had an inguinal (right side) hernia for about 8 years now (since I was 64). Not doing surgery, no way, especially at my advanced age as total healing would be difficult to achieve. So, I've been wearing a comfort truss the entire time, and I've been able to continue living a normal life, but being very careful about not lifting heavy stuff. I proactively keep my weight down, and avoid heavy meals, and absolutely see to it that I have a complete BM every day. I'm 6'0", and 175 lbs. The hernia, at it's largest size, protrudes about three inches, if I don't have the truss on. So far, it's not in the scrotum, and I continue to pray it never will be. So, with the truss on, I go about my daily life just fine. Laying on my back, it is totally gone, and I sleep very well all night. So, just know that if you are CAREFUL, you can live to be an old man with a hernia, without surgery, well into your 70s, 80's, and beyond!!!! (a note about complete BM's, I use Metamucil every day without fail, and eat a high-fiber diet, to keep everything 'moving' down there. Works for me!! ).

    Thank you so much for this update Tom! It means a lot to me. Good to know that your hernia hasn't returned. Did you notice a difference in your core muscles before & after the hernia? I have a noticeably smaller external oblique muscle on the hernia side & when I lie on my back & reduce the hernia, the area where the inguinal canal is feels doughy/soft, compared with the non-hernia side. I am doing exercises to try to build the obliques/transversus abdominis muscles but I've only noticed a tiny improvement after years of doing that. Apparently those muscles deteriorate rapidly after 50, so at 56 I have a lot of work to do. You're in a good position in that you worked on your core muscles while young - don't stop doing it!

      Thanks for sharing, I haven't noticed any difference in my core muscles. I've always done lots of activities to strengthen the core, so likely that also led to me being able to tighten everything up more easily down there. It's great that you've noticed the differences, being aware of the body is the first step, then taking the necessary action make the changes you need! Even tiny improvements over time should be considered a great win, especially when it could be deteriorating instead! Keep at it and those tiny improvements will continue to compound.

    Did you wear a truss during the healing process?

      This is a really good question, I’ve been through the process of healing naturally, following up with the exercises and my diet. I have some kind of doubt if I should use the belt or not, I don’t want to make it into a habit and create a comfort zone where I’m not giving the area enough space to heal, because of the pressure that the hernia belt may apply. Hope to hear what was your experience, or if you chose not to use it. We are aware that everybody is different , although it does help to hear your feedback 🫶🏽🤍

    Have aloe vera juice or cabbage juice as they are very good for the gut.

    Hi Tom, doctors here at Shouldice Hospital in Toronto area told me that they do not rely on ultrasound or CT to confirm hernia. It has to be visible lump. I didnt have that and they confirmed its not hernia..it turned out i have radiating nerve pain in the groin due to back injury from a car accident. This has been very painful to deal with.

      See Ramdev yoga and diet tips for hernia. Aloe Vera Juice and cabbage is very good for hernia...see if you can get surgery done via desarda technique if needed. Yoga and diet may help. Avoid heavy lifting anything

      It is definitely a horrible feeling when you first discover the hernia, especially if you get fulfillment through an active lifestyle! September should be far enough away that you can try your best to turn things around naturally before your surgery. I gave myself a two month window and tried my absolute best, and it worked for me! Everyone's condition is different though, all you can do is try different things and see what your body responds to.
