Making bride and groom initials for a wedding decoration. Full tutorial.
#iinitials #resinletters #resininitials Hi everyone and welcome. In this video I will be making 2 large 3D initials for a bride and groom to display at their wedding. I used spring colours but it would also look great in a more traditional white. All of the real flowers that I used have been thoroughly dried out, ( 3 weeks in silica gel crystals), as it's the only way to put real flowers in resin. This project could also be done with flowers taken from a wedding bouquet and dried and used in the couples initials to make a special memento of their special day. Even though I made it in layers, I did use resin thats suitable for deep casting to be sure of getting a good result. I used a variety of narrow curling ribbons to add another texture and I think they looked really good with the flowers. To make both initials I used 1000 grams of resin. Each initial would be a slighly different amount but I would guess that you would need around 500 grams to make 1 initial in this size.
Watch along as I go step by step in creating these little beauty's.

      Hi I don't really know exactly what you mean by picture or message so I am guessing here. If you were adding something like a paper pic or sticker with ink, it would have to be sealed with a couple of coats of either mod podge or a clear varnish before puttingit in resin. I hope that helps.

    I'm not trying to be negative or troll or anything but this is not a orgone device ..so many people are making pyramids and calling them orgone simply because they put crystals in it n make it look decorative..I had to learn as well so I'm not trying hate on anyone but bring awareness to the true meaning of orgone energy...For it to be orgone it has to have the proper elements n layers with 50% or more organic n inorganic matter it also has to have a coiled double terminated quarts at the top to create the piezoelectric reaction.. this one has way to much dead apace , which are the area with no organic matter , it looks nice but it's not a orgone generator/device..no love lost ..

    • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi thank you for the comment and I can see that you are very Knowledgeble about orgones. You are right in that my creation is not a true orgone, It's just made in that style, but meant to be decorative, not actually an orgone. I should have called the video making an orgone style decorative pyramid or something similar. Thank you for the information and I will remember to be more precise in my descriptions in future.

Am very new to resin but dying to make pyramid one ASAP. Got my mould but am afrais of how to measure n divide each layer of this beauty..

    • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi and thank you, so happy that I inspired you. The rose is a fake rose made of silk and plastic. I am sorry that I didn't measure the amount of resin I used in each layer. I would say guestimate it and add a bit more. Have a spare small mold to hand to use any spare resin in. I wish you luck with your pyramid and happy crafting.😊

    • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thank you so much for the lovely comment. Making it for a wedding is such a lovely idea. Please note that I did use a faux silk rose in this project. ( everything I used is listed in the descrition box). Just an idea but, it woulds also be nice if you could save a rose from the wedding bouquet and use that. It must be dried out to go in resin. To dry it out thoroughly, use silica gel crystals for 3-4 weeks. That flower in a pyramid lamp would be a great memento. Another idea, in my next video I am making flowers in initials. That could be the brides and grooms too, the videos coming soon. Finally, yes you are right, the lights were the 1 metre size. (I have tried making this with bright white and coloured lights too but it really looks the best with soft warm white lights). So happy to have inspired you and I wish you luck with your pyramid.😊

      Can I get some tips from you. My pyramids came out bumpy lumpy, I sandpaper them, then put a thin layer of resin and it dried up all blotchy and smoothe, I tried again with uv resin, again all blotchy. I used a foam brush. What am I doing wrong.

  • @AndyVaught
    @AndyVaught ปีที่แล้ว

    I recently just got this. But haven’t made anything yet. I don’t know what the best measurement is of the resin and hardener to use. Some things I do turn out decent others not hard enough. Or still tacky.

    • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for watching my video and the comment. I really liked this mold, it has a lot of detail and was very sturdy. I can't remember how much resin it used but I usually make a bit more than I think I need and then if I have leftovers I make something small like a initial for a keyring or something little. If your cured resin doesn't harden or is tacky I would guess that it's the preperation. I always weigh the resin and hardener to get the exact ratio that it says to use. Also it's important to mix it for a full 3 minutes at least, a bit tedious but it will give really good results and is worth taking the trouble. I hope that helps you and I wish you luck with your resin creations.😊

  • @jstarr3676
    @jstarr3676 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hopefully you see this as it's been three years. 1. Can I combine the second and third layers and just have it be a dark colored layer of resin for the same result? And 2. If you flip the caps right side up would that eliminate the problem of them moving around? Thanks for your time.

    • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Thanks for watching my video and you raised some good questions. Reply 1) If you combined the 2nd and third layers with a coloured layer it could look a bit odd. You would still see the bottle caps tops but not the sides and I don''t think it would have as much impact. So, even though you could just do 2, I really think it's worth the extra effort to do 3 layers. Reply 2) Even if you flipped the caps, they would still move and need re positioning. Making them "upside down" really is the best way. I hope that helps and if you do give them a go I wish you luck.
