I seriously have NO clear understanding of "uS sOuNdTrAcKs"....Localisation is ridiculous. In my opinion, the ORIGINAL soundtrack, its labeled as Japan, it had GREAT music. It made me REALLY wanna play sonic cd. The us version is SO generic and mainstream. I know for a fact that they made the music just to fill in for noise. I am mad now as i thought going out my way for getting the gems collection for gamecube, it would be nice. NOPE. Hard coded us soundtrack. It sounds BORING for me....and i know that sonic cd...is NOT. i love the Emotional Soundtrack it had.

The pixelated original cutscenes are really charming, but I think I prefer the handdrawn ones (except for that one zoom-out in the intro)

More games should take cues from sonic CDs two OST’s while I’m personally a bigger fan of the JP soundtrack there is still a lot of credit that should go to the US OST it’s just comparing great to magnificent of you carb what I mean my personal experience with the JP OST is this almost nostalgic happy ebineezer Scrooge in Christmas Day once the story is done and then the bad futures are on a diffirent level of absolute great music going full industrial and chaotic and then metallic madness is just perfect in all eras and tidal tempest makes me ascend to the heavens I don’t have much to say for the US OST because I don’t usually listen to it but man when it hits it hits pretty hard I know I’m starting to yap about nothing but this soundtrack has really captured my heart and Mr. Plumbers_Helper thanks for giving everyone these songs in this way thanks so much

Genuinely an insane and respectful job, thank you for everything about it! I just had one question, is the US version of the game’s Final Boss exactly the same as the normal boss? I’ve heard people say the track switched a major key to a minor or vice-versa when playing the Final Boss and I wanted to know if it was the case or not? Also big thanks for everything, this is my definitive Sonic CD playlist!

I personally like the US ost given the fact that it probably felt like a whole new experience to it's audience at the time. That's how it felt to me when I played origins. I was so used too the sega soundfont that hearing real instruments and voices without sounding compressed or 16 bit felt really awesome and fit the game so much more IMO. especially the boss theme, Dr. Eggman has always been a joke, his name is "Dr. Eggman" ffs. But that boss theme reflects who he is at his core, he is a genuine threat regardless of how he looks or behaves. This is the same man who threatened the world with an orbital canon, He may act foolish and lash out like a child but his ideals and overall goal are the same as they were in the 90's cartoon. Cold, unnatural, distanced from humanity and morality.

Sonic CD means so much to me. Thank you soso much for all of your work. I feel like I'm listening to it for the first time, even though I've heard the soundtrack so much over the years.

Most of them seem not to come from Us or are a small fan of the jp, you have to be honest this ost yes or If it looks good or perfect to this area since it should not always be a crazy casino place, if we look well this area looks more like an abandoned urbanization in the middle of construction and pretending to the purple concrete and green moss if this ost of the Americans "boomberman Jp" looks good, Lol

I feel like this version plays in the 2011 version of Sonic CD as I recall hearing that extra part around the bridge (though not the part around 3:51, that part is entirely new). All that said, Yeah Tidal Tempest really is peak all around, both the JP and US versions of the present really benefitted strongly from using a similar kind of hip hop/swing style with the US version playing more to the exotic culture of the location and the JP version playing to the ambience of an aquatic cavern. I think Sega REALLY wanted to make up for Labyrinth zone by giving the water stage arguably the best music in the game in both versions cause it's absolutely fantastic!

y'know, i never saw the redrawn cd version of these animations since the mobile port was my first direct exposure to this game. the pixelated look has it's charm in some parts admittedly

Tbh US soundtrack doesn't fit the game at all. All the "G" Mix or "B" Mix doesn't make the feeling of your failure or your good work

I feel like the more i listen to this, the more i prefer the US version. Not saying this is bad, just i feel the us version nails that otherworldly feeling better y'know?

Sometimes I think that the American version of palmtree panic bad future is better than the jp version not because it sounds like the stupid phrase "the gods of the tribes are angry" but because of the part of the album that makes us reflect on how everything was before this rotten place making us regret and now accept the consequences listening to voices tormented by not saving this tropical area..
