Jim Tyer is a epic animator
I’ve seen enough post-Mintz/pre-UPA Columbia stand-alone cartoons (“Giddy-Yapping,” “Mass Mouse Meeting,” “The Rocky Road to Ruin,” “The Herring Murder Case,” that nonsensical Sherlock Holmes parody I forgot the title to…) to know the original line wasn’t nearly as funny.
I really appreciate you and anything and everything you do, Thaddy, old pal! I’m gonna go spread the word, so done!
Thanks for posting, Thad! This is one of my favorite Fleischer Talkartoons.
Done. Good luck!
Backed and pulling for you Thad. Appreciate all you do
HBO Max version
I like the end when Bimbo gets crazy.
Hi Thad, I noticed on your old blog that you had uploaded a video of the once-lost Columbia Color Symphonies short Cockatoos for Two. The youtube link you had for it is now marked private. Did you upload it anywhere else or still have access to it?
It's been over 20 years and this line of dialogue still cracks me up and I still use it to this day
Steve Wilkos must've said that after the Cubs won the 2016 World Series.
who's singing in the end?
Louis Armstrong
Where do you work-a Thad?
Dayton Allen was a very funny guy, besides being a talented voice actor. I still have his “Why Not” comedy album. His brother is Bradley Bolke, the guy who voiced Chumley the walrus in Tennessee Tuxedo and his tales.
Jim Tyer was truly unique. His distinctive style is instantly recognizable in any show he lent his hand too. His animation was loose and manic, characters would go wildly off model, and he would come up with all sorts of imaginative visuals such as the butlers arms sliding apart as though detached when he opens the double doors, the butler appearing “flat” and turning wafer thin when he turns and changes direction. It just shows you that a truly creative and talented person can make even limited animation fun and visually appealing. I always liked these Hal Seeger cartoons. You could always instantly tell which episodes of Batfink Jim Tyer worked on. He had a style nobody else did.

Thad: Yours is the best video quality. My grandfather taught me the song "Where do you work-a John" in the early 1950's Love this cartoon.
From “Mask-a-Raid” (1931).
The APM music makes this all the better

Fun fact of the day, a lot of people might not believe me but its true. Homer Brightman is my great grandfather. He died before I was born, so I never knew him. My mom did though. She told me that the two of us would probably get a long well. I always wanted to be an artist when I was young. I didn't really know that he was one too until I was nine. I didn't really realize I would be coincidentally following in his footsteps. I know for a fact that a LOT of people will not believe me. I don't talk about it a lot because I just want to stay humble about it.
I get the joke but....why?
John Foster: the animator behind your favorite 1930 Terrytoon (seemingly usually assisted by "Sarka")
Ahhh! The sweet scent of youthful enthusiasm, unblemished by the passage of years. Pretty damn cool, young fella!
That animation at 6:18 is great. You gotta love Marty Taras !

It was courageous for a celebrity like him to take a stand against the evils of comics magazines. Unfortunately, he was soon to be silenced by the so-called "Bullpen," a veritable Murderers Row under the command of comics mob boss Stan "The Man" Lee.
When you hear there might another 🚽 paper shortage again
