nothing like analog chorus! nice rings, pedals and video bro!
@@Zallard honestly, I think chorus is one where analog matters to me most. But I do like to have access to digital obviously because it Exists haha. Thanks so so much my friend 🎸
Glitch, please!
I like glitch.
Oh, and I thoroughly enjoyed the vidya! 😊
@@svenamsterdam3501 Ah thanks so much!
Strangely, Danelectro pedals are criminally underrated for the price. 😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤🎵🎶🎸🎶🎵🎶🎸🎶🎵🎶🎸😃
@@svenamsterdam3501 yeah! It’s like people don’t take them seriously or something. There are some clangers in that series like the grilled cheese but there’s also some gold.
Bit of a sleeper pedal. I don’t see this on many boards 🎸
I've got a Mooer pedal (Shimverb) but it keeps falling off the board cos there's not enough surface area for the velcro :(
@@domlo66 My Flanger is really difficult to Velcro down because of where the battery compartment is. You could always use cable ties 🎸
Oily water has beautiful shoeghaze chord. But Coxon soloing one this one perfectly abbrasive
Oily Water is a banger! Will listen to that today on my walk actually.
Just one use of this complex pedal

@@collisiondevices cheers there, lads 🎸
Nice. I stack pedals for a solo part (I'm more of a Rhythm guy). It might be bricked in terms of dynamics but DAMN does it sound good!😎👍✨
I like a nice compressed sound for lead.
Really liked the Blue Sky...Real good dirt. The Tone City pedals have some great budget overdrive too. I really like the Sweet Cream
The Wild Fro by Tone City is on my radar. Heard it on the Andertons ‘Best Metal Distortion’ video and couldn’t believe how good value it was when I checked the price!
It’s a great, budget Blues Driver 🎸
Winnner of the dirty Tele pick guard award! 👏
It’s eroded all over from twenty years of stickers. Took em all off a few years ago and it was left like this. I love it 🎸
Nux tubeman overdrive is cheap but great, too!
@@_widas_ I haven’t tried any Nux but they seem to have a really great selection. Their analog multi is currently interesting me.
The TC Electronic was my first Fuzz and I bought it blindly since it says Fuzz. Very cool to see it on another board!
@@philxknife a good one to start with as it’s really easy to control! Imagine if you got a Fuzz Factory and ended up hating it haha. Thanks for watching 🎸
ahh Chris - got news for you. There's over 100 good cheap OD pedals around now. Companies release a new one every month
@@peterhughes8699 what a time to be alive 🎸
The mini jam with the Behringer was dope.
Ah cheers. Really different to the stuff I normally play but it’s good to branch out for these videos I think 🎸
The Flyying Colours catalog is a delightful contemporary take on the shoegaze sound. Male and female vocals blended together, crescendoing guitars, driving rhythm and just enough ambiance.
@@tenkarabadger5244 I’ve never checked em out! I’ll have to have a listen based on your description 🎸 Thanks 🙏
Not budget, but the Walrus 385 does pretty much everything I want from any kind of drive pedal. I could gig with one of those, a vibe and a delay into a Fender reverb amp and be happier than a dog with 2…. Tails.
@@bobcatblooze Walrus do nice things but I haven’t checked that out yet! Only thing I have by them is the Fable. Fathom and Slo are awesome.
@@chrisegonmusic I’ve not tried the new one with the extra gain switch, just the original. It goes from boost, to overdrive, to Supro fuzziness just by tweaking the knob a little and altering your dynamics. Well worth a look. Plus it’s kinda unique, being based on an old film projector.
@@bobcatblooze I’m definitely interested haha. Getting a Carcosa Fuzz for Christmas btw. Just got a 1985 DOD American Metal too. Need the channel to do well so I can justify this behaviour 😂
@@chrisegonmusic I have a Carcosa, it's a cool fuzz. It's a bit like the 385 in that it covers a wide range of tones. You do need to dial it in a bit though as the knobs are very interactive. It doesn't do the clean up thing like a Fuzz Face but plays well with buffers and other pedals.
@@bobcatblooze yeah those circuits don’t do the clean up. I don’t actually have anything similar to a Tonebender/Maestro, so I’m excited. All my fuzzes are Muffs or FF circuits. Just got a Fat Fuzz Factory off eBay for half the retail price. Now there’s one that’s hard to dial in haha.
I've been using the Danelectro Pastrami Overdrive for twenty years. It's great. Seems to be based on the MXR Distortion+ and by extension the DOD OD 250. Nice, gritty sound, just like you demoed it.
@@mattrobbins2268 glad to hear I’m not the only one! The 250 is one of my favourite sounding pedals of all time, so maybe there’s something in that! There was a rather amusing discussion in some of the forums about what its origin was. Mainly funny because someone was claiming it was a fuzz and this seemed to enrage everyone else. That’s a really useful insight, thanks! 🎸
the slicer is sick, I'd love to get it in a mini version with maybe less options. If anyone knows of an alternative, please let me know! :)
You can get it in a larger, vintage version that has less options haha. It is a bit daunting though. I almost feel guilty for not exploring everything that it can do.
TC MojoMojo...35$ used. A great buy!
@@StoneTownHouse I’ve been so close to getting that pedal so many times. Possibly my next purchase OD wise. If it’s good enough for Paul Gilbert…
@chrisegonmusic go for it! You won't regret it. So versatile
@@chrisegonmusic great pedal. A lot of people say it’s too woolly but it’s seen off a lot of boutique pedals on one of my boards.
@@bobcatblooze it weirdly seems like one of those pedals that people love to hate on. I’ve always really liked the sound of it. Can’t really go wrong for the price.
My Main Pedal Board has 12 pedals on it. I have three Dirt pedals, in order: Ibanez Tubescreamer Mini pedals, Rat 2, and a Big Muff. The Rat and Big Muff are Alchemy Audio modded pedals so I can change the diodes on them and they have the "Dead Bat" feature which can starve them for voltage. I have the Tubescreamer in front of them because I found out many Boutique pedals are basically based on modded pedals and sometimes the put in elements of other pedals. So a Tubescreamer into a Big Muff yields a MASSIVE TONE! Trying running the Tubescreamer clone ahead of the Pure Sky or Danelectro pedal and you will see what I mean. The Pure Sky is based on a MCR Timmy and I actually prefer it to the original.😉👍✨
@@gringogreen4719 Most of my GAS is due to OD, Distortion and fuzz. Can never have enough options. On my Shoegaze pedal board video I show that I put a Plumes going into a Russian Muff clone for that very reason. I’ve usually preferred it up front. Klones are also amazing for driving other pedals. So much to explore. Thanks so much! 🎸
@@chrisegonmusic Very nice! I never really got the buzz about Klons, not really my deal. For original Shoegaze, those guys were using Standard pedals like Boss. I love Daniel Ash in Bauhaus and he used a Telecaster through Standard pedals to get those tones. When I was getting GAS for Boutique pedals what I found was the Dirt pedals were based on Standard and Classic pedals but modded and tweaked. Back in the 90s I had a Sovtek Big Muff (hated it, too thick for how I play) and a Rat and when I read that the guys in Wilco bought a few Alchemy Audio modded pedals, well I had to try them. Basically some components are upgraded, there are a few diodes that get changed and they change the edge of the sound, not night and day changes but definitely noticeable. You also got the "Dead Bat" feature to starve voltage and it was about $30-$50 more than the used price of the pedal it was using. You also get to put it back to stock, so this was a winning concept for me. My newer Muff is a used and modded EHX NYC Big Muff Pi so it sounds better to my ear on how I play. On my Main Board I have everything from Standard pedals to Elevated (regular pedal companies but not the basic version of the pedal) to Modded and Boutique pedals. One isn't really better than another. I am also a "set it and forget it" kinda player on most of my pedals. The ones I play around with are my Ibanez Echoshifter (noise maker), my Orion Effekt Kafka Reverb pedal, and my Walrus Audio Slo. I haven't settled in any given sounds on those so I play with them more. I do want to get a EHX Oceans 3 (I already have an Oceans 11 on my board, mainly in shimmer mode) to put a Plate Reverb before my Dirt pedals to get certain Shoegaze tones. My three main effects are Dirt (Tubescreamer, Rat, Big Muff), Reverb (Oceans 11, True Spring (Surf drip), Kafka (Dark Reverb), and a Slo (washy reverb)), and Echo/Delay (Dan Echo (Slapback), Dan Echo (Spacey echo), and a Echoshifter. I also have a Boss TU 2 tuner and a Danelectro Cool Cat 18 volt model. Any other effect, I don't use them or want them. Dirt, Reverb, and Echo are my sounds. I was happy to find out that my board can do the Shoegaze I was looking for as well as Doom Metal. I mainly play Punk Rock, Psychobilly, Rockabilly, Oi, Street Punk, Alt Country, and Ska as my types of music.
@@gringogreen4719 I’m actually thinking about doing a doom metal board soon. Doom and ambient shoegaze are the things I probably play most. Maybe even a bit of Post Metal or Blackgaze
I have a Pure Sky on my Garage Rock pedal board. I have next to a Demonic Machines $50 Fuzz.
I’ll check out that fuzz! A good price!
@@chrisegonmusic If you can find them. Ryan on 60 Cycle Hum did a video on Demonic Machines and it's a one knob fuzz. I'm not sure if they make them anymore or how much they are used. Basically they are a Boutique brand from San Diego, CA. I also bought another pedal from them that I am pretty luke warm on. The Fuzz works fine. The other pedal is a Dragonaut and I am not sure if mine works correctly.
@@gringogreen4719 I watch a lot of Ryan. He’s a top bloke.
@@chrisegonmusic Yeah, he's funny! I blamed him in me getting more interested in Surf Rock and he said "Sorry..." 🤣 I bought a few Xaviere guitars from Guitar Fetish because of him and did a few other things. He basically was a catalyst for me to do my pedal boards and to also buy cheap guitars and rewire them to make them sound and play better for me.
i loved thissssssssss
I’m glad you do! 🎸
Caline bluesky is a great pedal.
@@standingmusic___ yeah. It’s probably the one that I heard most good things about before finally checking it out. I appreciate that it’s pretty much at the settings I’d chose rather than worrying about where I have a switch. Sometimes we can have too many options.
I've got the Azor mini version, and I have to agree. Great on its own and for pushing other things. (Like my Joyo sweet baby. Great combo!)
@ will check that out! Thanks 🎸
Big fan of the behringer green one. Will do the whole range of TS patter from the cleaned up glassy thing to the gnarly almost spitty thing. Ridiculous gateway pedal.
Aye, I like that vintage honk 🪿

What's your favourite Overdrive pedal?
The plumes, for sure. You gotta love an overdrive with 3 different modes
@@_widas_ Plumes was almost included in this as the three modes sort of make it better bang for ya buck. Wanted to stick to the super budget theme though. Probably my all time favourite overdrive. It’s used in my Shoegaze Pedalboard vid.
@@chrisegonmusic will check it out 🫡

@@lastbestplace8112 I suppose we’re all susceptible to a little cognitive bias.
I also have the honey pot and was wondering if you also had a problem with a small delay in the activation of the pedal when you switch it on? I read other people have it too
@@ajimmar for some reason, that series of pedals uses a switch that only activates when you stop pressing it rather than coming on when press it. It’s a very common gripe and I have no idea why they went with that kind of switch. It doesn’t really bother me as I must press fast anyway. To fix it you could just swap out the switch.
@@chrisegonmusic oh good to read that. I also have the TC electronic sky surfer (which is a pretty similar build) but doesn't have that problem for some reason. Thanks though.
@@ajimmar anytime 🎸
Hi, shoegaze forever!!! What gauge strings do you use? On this Amazing Jaguar.
@@gae7081 forever indeed! I use 10s on shorter scale (Gibson & Jaguar) and 9s on Fender scale. 12s if I’m tuning to C Standard. I only change them if they break or the tuning becomes unstable Thanks! 🎸
@@chrisegonmusic thank you very much, my dude!
Don't even have a guitar and now I feel like I need to get one to make all those beautiful sounds like you did! All hail the algorithm for bringing me here.
@@pistachiyoyo I’m glad you found your way here. Every household could benefit from one or many guitars 🎸 Thanks so much!
I have different Fuzzes for different boards. My Main Board has an Alchemy Audio modded Big Muff and also a Rat with the same mod. I use a Tubescreamer in front of them to push them into Boutique territory. My OG board has a DOD Flashback Fuzz and a Danelectro Daddy O. The Daddy O isn't really a Fuzz but it can get Fuzzy (I keep reading its a Marshall Guv'nor copy). My Budget Garage Rock board has a Demonic Machine's "$50 Fuzz" and also a Caline Pute Sky. Both sound better than what you would expect for the price point. I have a free range DOR Carcosa and another Danelectro Daddy O. Neither of them are on a board right now. This is a good start for your demos. Its interesting to see just how small, yet significant, flipping a switch is. The significance changes as you sweep the range of the knobs but initially not much from one side to another. I have these diode options on the Alchemy Audio modded pedals (Rat, Big Muff, Daddy O's) and the switch isnt huge but definitely changes the edges of the sound. Budget pedals are alright for home and home recording. If you play out, they may or may not last all that long. If you use a budget pedal as a "stand in" for what you want, it's usually better to get the pedal you want. If you plan on playing in a band and playing out, I would go with a tried and true pedal (the one the budget is based on) than a budget pedal. The only exception that I have had where I prefer the budget pedal is my Caline Pure Sky, I like how that sounds over the Timmy on which it is based.
Ah cheers for that. Yeah, just a bit of an experiment with the gear vids. But yeah, flipping the switch has a really different ‘feel’ too. DOD Carcosa is on my radar. May be the next fuzz I get. Probably between the Carcosa and the Keeley Fuzz Bender. And, yeah I sort of agree on it being worthwhile getting the tried and tested pedal. I’ll always lust after it and end up buying twice. I like budget for having lots of studio options, as you say. Thanks!
@@chrisegonmusic With budgets sometimes you get something slightly off of the pedal it is based on. Also certain models are cool for a variety. I have a Alchemy Audio modded Rat pedal, I don't want another Rat I am interested in the Joyo Splinter as a budget option (might be a stand alone, might be on another budget board) as well as an EHX Flat Iron (a variation on the Rat). The overall issue I face with buying more gear is that no matter what guitar I play, I still play the same type of music and songs. I have my sound/tone so buying new gear isn't the big revelation it was when I was in my twenties about twenty years ago. So I tend to dial my tone in pretty similar. I know what I like and I know what I don't like.
@@gringogreen4719 Joyo Fat is one of my favourite budget pedals. Hopefully get a vid done on that soon.
Hmmm, come to think of it, the cheapest fuzz pedal i have would be my big bo,x big muff. I have gone the route of shelling out the money for the pedalsI want to start off with when it came to fuzz/distortion and reverb. As for my other pedals, they are all pretty run of the mill.
My cheapest pedal is also my Big Muff big box but that’s because it’s so trashed that it’s effectively worthless lol 😂
Big fan of that gunned silicon sound. Prefer it slightly to the germanium
@@sour37 when I was actually playing it I sort of preferred the silicon but when listening back I preferred the germanium. Silicon is a bit louder too so that’ll make it sound better lol. Louder is more good.

Well that’s the nicest comment I’ve ever had! I really appreciate that. I’ve thought about doing a full gear video. Definitely someday. Thanks so much 🎸
Dumb question, are you demo'ing these in isolation or through the pedal chain?
@@spearitbomb good question! These are in isolation as in the other pedals are switched off but still connected (so any buffers will be active but I honestly never think about that.) Since there’s a Boss pedal at the start of the chain, I suppose everything is technically buffered to some extent but I don’t think it’s making a notable difference. There’s not even any post production at all which made me feel rather self conscious haha. There are a few examples at the end of the video with some sounds from the board. Thanks for asking!

I love that you picked A Storm In Heaven, that's one of my favourite albums.
