I'm not entirely sure. Which power point on the n64 are you using? I attached mine to the 3.3v and GND on the controller port. Also which speaker are you using? I would also check the wiring in general. I done a similar mod with a Dreamcast, that I went a bit more in to the wiring for.

Resistors are usually for power regulations. So I imagine if you didn't use them, it would either blow, or just not function properly.

@@djbawb clones for sure, but nigh perfect clones. What I find especially interesting about the 3D is that it's said to have some "overclock mode" that improves performance for some titles original consoles struggle with. Would be amazing if we could have DK64 playing at a solid 30 FPS. Since this is their first true mainstream system, Analogue would do good pushing indie development. Maybe an "Analogue Seal of Quality" that says "Optimized for Analogue 3D". Existing devkits could implement a way to figure out whether the game is run on an OG N64 or an Analogue 3D and developers could add more objects and small details in case of the latter. I'm actually really excited for this system, as a developer.

I would definitely love to pick up an Analog3D at some point. I like their products, but getting hold of one is nearly impossible at a reasonable price. I'll be in the States in September, so hopefully pick one up!

I live Kaico, and love that they are doing their own brand SC64!

@@DReviewTing Yea. It's nice. But I don't think it's any different from the Chinese ones. They did include an little USB card reader but that one seems to be DOA (doesn't work on any of my computers).

The usb-c input comes in at 9v and is then split. One goes to the 12v rail, and the other goes to the 3.3v via a stepdown convertor. When the console is on, it's still registering at 9v and 3.3v. Do you think the 3.3v is still too low, or even the 9v? I can't get 12v from any device, and I don't want to try 15v.

@@DReviewTing yeah when the console is on it should be giving you around 12.4v, off it will only give you 10.9v or so. It's the opposite with the 3.3v, it will be 3.3v when on and 3.7v when off. Not sure why...

That is absolutely no fun! So a rough price would be about 120eur, which includes the original N64. Paint would be about 150. All the components were less that 5 each, bought in bundles from aliexpress.

That's fair. I think they're a left over component from the arcade upscaler board. Personally, I've found them handy to boost contrast and make the image a little sharper. I've found when they are all at zero, the picture is a little over exposed.

That's a great question. I'll need to have a look. There is a /SAVES folder that generates, so I'd say it's possible. But not sure.

The point is: it's a bit of fun. It's also a cheap alternative that can be done at home, without the cost of an Analogue. Plus, it's an option to play the original hardware. Why do you need an OS to play 64? You don't. Its 4k output, but that doesn't mean it's going to be decompiled and massively rerendered and upscaled. Your second part about PC nullifies your comment about the analogue then. So I don't really see the point in your comment.

@@Oddzball3 I get the bit but I'll respond sincerely as someone who owns all Analogue products except for the early wooden CMVS. Analogue's business model stinks. When Blaze can partner with local distributers for their products and carts, there's no excuse. Not even the boutique, JIT order excuse after the success of the Pocket. Fix the distribution.

I think this is more comparable to the X7, than the X5. Which is a big difference in price between those two.
