Blocks shots, cuts off passes, makes breakouts look easy, elite at retrieving the puck from opposition, elite hands, playmaking, vision, has a good shot as well but doesn't use it that much. That's a true captain and one of the best players in the world. At both ends of the ice.

I LOVE this video. There are many flashy, highly skilled NHL players. God bless 'em. But NOBODY has made back-checking & fore-checking as fun & interesting to watch as Barkov. After the Leafs beat the Panthers 6-4 (on 4/1/24), Elliotte Friedman argued Auston Matthews (a great player) had proven that he was a better, more valuable, all-around player than Barkov - an opinion that enraged me because it's NOT true. (Barkov plays the PK and PP; Matthews only plays the PP.) Barkov is THE man. (I also love Forsling's game, and complained bitterly when the Blackhawks retained Eric Gustofson instead of Gus.)
