Mangrove Snapper! Catch, Clean and Cook
Mangrove snapper can be very easy to catch and are delicious. They tend to swarm docks and piers during the summertime and once you find the school, the bite is on! Good baits for these guys are live shrimp and small greenbacks. Make sure you go light on tackle, snapper have great eyesight and won't touch a big thick leader!
One of my favorite ways to cook these guys up is to make beer-battered sandwiches. I'll walk you through how to clean them and cook them!

Eating a Sea Robin???
มุมมอง 9747 ปีที่แล้ว
Sea robins are often considered a nuisance by many anglers. They aren't very big, don't fight hard, are voracious and aggressive feeders, and you can't eat them! ...Or can you? While micro fishing off of the Gulf Pier at Fort DeSoto Park, I hooked into one of the so called "trash fish". I decided to take the plunge and bring the little guy home with me for a bit of a taste test.
Catch and Cook - WHITING
มุมมอง 6K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Whiting are some of my favorite fish that swim in the Gulf. They're easy to catch, great to eat, and fight pretty hard for their size. You can catch these guys from the beach or from piers on shrimp, sand fleas, and even pompano jigs. They're simple to clean, and yield some white, tasty fillets. Whiting are very common along all Florida coasts, so get out there and catch some! Radio Rock by Aud...

Eating Sand Perch
มุมมอง 6K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Sand perch are often a bycatch when fishing for bait off of a pier or bottom fishing. While they are generally used for bait, they are actually quite delicious and rather meaty for their size. They don't have many bones, are super easy to clean, and are in possession of some of the whitest meat you will ever see on a fish. Next time you catch one that's big enough, you ought to give it a try!
Catch and Cook - SPANISH MACKEREL
มุมมอง 7K7 ปีที่แล้ว
The Spanish Mackerel is such a tasty and versatile fish if cleaned properly and eaten with 1-3 days. The flesh has a very mild flavor and a delicate texture. If you've ever been to Bonefish Grill, chances are that you're familiar with their signature Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos. I've seen several copycat variants of that recipe and decided to give it a try with spanish mackerel instead of shrimp. Th...
Florida Fishing - SPECKLED TROUT, PUFFER FISH, LADYFISH, STINGRAY
มุมมอง 5617 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm going to let you all in on a secret I've mine... Well, it's not really a secret. I suck at catching trout and redfish. These prized inshore species just do not seem to like me, and I haven't caught a slot red in about 8 years! However, I'm not one to be easily discouraged. A friend from work told about this park in Ruskin, FL called E.G. Simmons Park. It's a beautiful park surrounded by man...
Eating a remora??? (And catching my first cobia!)
มุมมอง 5K7 ปีที่แล้ว
If you've spent any amount of time saltwater fishing, chances are you've come across the remora. The remora is a fascinating little fish that actually gets around by suctioning itself to other larger marine animals. I've always wanted to try eating one of these fish, and today I finally got my chance. It was also the day I caught my very first cobia!
Jack Attack! Catching Jack Crevalle at Apollo Beach
มุมมอง 7K8 ปีที่แล้ว
During the winter time, large fish like jack crevalle and cobia make their way towards the TECO Power Plant, seeking refuge in its warm waters. A cold front recently came through, so I decided to check out Apollo Beach to see if any fish had been pushed in. Boy, am I glad I went.
Eating Jack Crevalle???
มุมมอง 8K8 ปีที่แล้ว
Any angler has caught their fair share of "trash fish". Hardhead catfish, gafftopsail, pinfish, hardtails, jack crevalle, and many more less than desirable species often end up on the ends of our lines. However, sometimes these "trash fish" get a bad rep, and can often end up being quite palatable! Today, I decided that I was going to try to eat a jack crevalle. I was shocked by the results!
Skyway Pier Fishing - SPANISH MACKEREL AND LADYFISH
มุมมอง 3K8 ปีที่แล้ว
Pier fishing is a great alternative for landlocked anglers. You get access to deeper water at a fraction of the cost! A large pier creates an awesome underwater ecosystem that becomes a fishy paradise. From whiting and pompano in the shallows, redfish and black drum in the troughs, sheepshead on the pilings, and pelagics tearing up bait fish, piers are a wonderful angling opportunity. My friend...

Pier Fishing - FLOUNDER AND GROUPER
มุมมอง 3.3K8 ปีที่แล้ว
I love fishing in the fall! The dropping water temperatures kicks off the fall bait run, and many predators are in hot pursuit. Flounder start filling themselves up on bait fish from October through November to prepare for their offshore spawning season in December-January. Now is a great time to break out your carolina rigs and catch some flounder! Music by: Title: Octagon Pt. 2 By: Polyrhythmics

I didn't see you scale this fish. Not needed ? The FL regulations are cryptic at best. Downright hostile at worst. They hide the spanish Mackerel (SM) under "pelagics" (Sp) It's something like a limit of 15 and a 12" fork length

Just decide if you look at Google Map you can see an umbrella that looks like a cross and there's like a round area Dark Water follow to the back with a Wallace and by the way Jack yellowtail jack is called as long as you make a filet and you flip it over skin side and take the bloodline completely off or bleeding when you catch him as they're dying the blood goes out of their flashing it makes it a lot easier to not have that taste 🤓👍

Spanish are some of my favorite fish on the grill. Leave the skin on, and season the meat side with your favorite seasoning (i use Glades seasoning). Start it skin side down...cook 2/3 in this fashion then flip to sear the top. Much better than prized fish like trout. The oil will gather along the skin which will be super easy to peel off at the end.

ahl T, I'm a bit confused by your comment here. Mangrove snapper don't have a "slot", they just have a minimum size requirement of 10 inches. I did catch many undersize mangrove snapper in this video, but all of the ones harvested were 10 inches and up. Any smaller than that, and they were released. Had you watched to the end, you would have seen this.
