    "I could be this rank I just don't play enough" is definitely true to some extent though, was Plat in S8 and S9 but then got a full time job so for about 4 years I hovered around Silver and Gold. Got laid off recently and I'm back at Plat again in like 2 weeks, sucks that I had to stomp a bunch of silver players over 100 games to just get back to where I was

    honestly, I think the biggest problem (depending on elo and circumstances) is that this is happening to ALL of your teammates and they have a higher MMR than they are actually skilled. I think that is when people say "team diff" and I understand it completely.

    how do you explain someone having 59% winrate in 150 games but having lp gains +22 / -27 ? ( without loosing more than 5 games in a row ever ) seems like being chat restrict impacts your mmr too edit : you took kirei exemple , but most of people doesnt have the time and the will to play more than 300 games a split to get the rank they deserve, in a fair system, 150 games should be more than enough to get your real rank, which isnt necessarly the case for league of legends, and that is criticizable

    3rd option. Derank to lower tier where the game thinks you belong (I.E plat dropping bronze) then win streaking back into your rank. It re-inflates your MMR because of the large winstreak you will achieve from playing at such low ranks. Can confirm this works after doing so 4 splits in a row.. Only negative is the amount of games needed to play just to accomplish this but if you play the game often anyway it’s worth the attempt.

    I have an account that I created since Season 7 in NA. It has been stuck in silver/gold elo throughout s13. I recently started playing league more seriously on a separate account and was able to climb to master(albeit demoting back to d3). But when I go back on my main account, its just hard to climb on it as I was just getting +18 -27 LP. It took more than 300 games this season to somewhat fix my lp gain/losses and get back to d1. One thing that helped me aside from sticking to what I know works is to duo queue from time to time with a higher mmr and get a winstreak. Cant keep doing though as you need to solo queue to make the system think that those wins are not just a fluke or because you played with a smurf/friend/booster (w/e you call it).

    • @coachboc
      @coachboc 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah this is totally true! Even after seasonal reset, if your account was in gold it can be hard to climb out. I remember the first time I did my climb, it took me 350 games to go from silver to plat 4. And then 200 games to go from Plat 4 to D4 (before there was Emerald)

    im stuck because I out dmg everyone in the game. Have the best cs and kda. Team refuses to build armor or magic pen or literally anything that doesn't fit their narrative on how to play. Im in the 'lets mash buttons and see what happens' elo and my rank looks like its doing pull ups. Im in the elo where they give towers for free because they are busy chasing kills. Im in the elo where my stable foundation isnt enough 40% of the time. This game isnt merit based at this elo. Just how lucky you are to not get someone experimenting an off meta build in rank for the first time. The elo of mental hell. Muting just lets their negative thoughts fester and even tho I can't see their chat. I know they are frozen at tower flaming someone. This isnt the real game in this elo. Its about how lucky you can get to find normal players. Not someone that can carry you but someone that remains consistent in their good and in their bad playing.

    • @coachboc
      @coachboc 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This sounds very frustrating, and I will be the first to admit that players at lower elos (iron, bronze, silver, or even gold) do NOT play the game "correctly" and that can make things way more volatile than it needs to be. BUT, what is making you so confident that you do know what you are doing is correct? Aren't you curious to look at what you CAN do? And if you truly believe that you are cursed at this elo, try making a smurf account. They start at gold-ish MMR and if your teammates are better, you would expect the games to be easier! Please give it a try and report back!

    • @flvrm57
      @flvrm57 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This is right not only for bronze/silver/gold , but for almost everything below high emerald basically even riot admitted it by putting a tag " average player" on their nerfs/buffs patches screen under the champs they make change, where we clearly can see the description " iron to emerald 3'" which says a lot if you dont trust me just take a look , type " league of legends patchnotes" , get on latest patch , watch the legend on the screen and check it by yourself ( since it seems like i cant put links ) if you're below emerald 3, you're not playing the game "correctly" which is statistically more than 90% of people playing the game not correctly at this point can we just say that nearly everyone isnt playing the game enough "correctly" to not make things "way more volatile than it needs to be " ? prob the game itself has a problem then i'm not saying you are wrong on your analysys about getting better tho , i'm just doing a statement

  • @BadConeja
    @BadConeja 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    So there is another secret Smurf detection algorithm. I have no clue how it works, but it’s for sure there. My account had ~1,000 games between bronze/silver and hit gold 4 at the end of the very first season I made the account (10th). Every season after than it was bronze 4/silver 3 I think Idr. I then duo’d with a previous challenger and over ~100 games hit diamond 1. I don’t really care about rank, this was for their ego/challenge to see if they could do it while with me. I haven’t played ranked since. I’ll let the account fully decay until I play ranked. If I ever do again. I’m pretty casual but I like certain levels of competition. Over those ~100 games the win rate was 75-80% and at certain elos my account got 75-100 LP for a few games. Before returning to the normal 25-30. Now this happened before the diamond 1 climb, but happens more frequently now. I will run into other accounts that 1) have either super decayed or are level 500-1000 and never left bronze but only have diamond - master friends. I assume these are Smurf and alt accounts. My challenger friend had some alts like this and often played in lower elo, but not to stomp. He just liked to play more casually and lost like a typical gold player when not being sweaty. He boosted other people I’m sure, but with me and many other friends he just liked to play casually. I assume many other Smurfs between bronze - gold are the same. Riot has some way to find these accounts or similarly experienced/skilled players and tries to match make them. Some people may look like they are good enough, and run into Smurfs more based on their skill and game number in that elo.

Yet with that account, I’ve never been able to make it out of bronze, sometimes being stuck in iron for an entire season. Split 3 this year I made a new account, and was placed into Gold 3 right away and I’ve been hovering Gold 3/2 for a few months now. I usually sit around 1k normal and 50 ranked games at the end of a season. I climb relatively fast cause I use norms to practise alot of things while having fun with friends. Its not super serious all the time but we always try to win atleast. Iknow alot of people say you can't compare norms to ranked cause the enviorment is so different, but all those norms do allow me to still get used to certain matchups, learn new interesting builds for my champs and make it feel like I don't throw the game for my team in ranked when I try to focuss on 1 of my "goals" (like jungle tracking/cs) as you mentioned in a previous video. For alot of people my norms can be seen as wasted time, but I think there's still alot of valuablw things ro be gained from it.

    I'm glad there are more voices in the space advocating for this fact. I think the thing with league that people don't respect as much is how much work it actually takes. I've been playing for a little over year and a half but still find that there are some situations where I just don't know how a character or an interaction works. Let alone trying to lane in the 1 in 500 games where you go against a Senna in a solo lane or some other BS and have no idea how they function in role they don't normally get played in. As for champion pool - I understand this is a video about climbing, but I think there's worth in trying different champions so you understand better how to play against them, understand more play styles, are able to counter pick etc. I never understand when people type in champ selection "they picked/banned my main, gg" ... having a favorite is fine for sure though

      I COMPLETELY agree with you. Playing more champions gives you a better idea of how to play the game overall. It just is something that needs to be done with intention, and not making the mistake of saying "i hit X rank on this champ, that means i can play ANY champ at this rank".

    I have a few questions i'll be happy if answered: Does your mmr always become flexible again at the start of a split/season? And does unranked games affect your mmr?

    • @coachboc
      @coachboc 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yes your MMR is always loosened on every split. BUT some splits are more "loose" than others, a notable example of this was this actually this year when Riot did a harder MMR reset than normal and it resulted in things like Challenger players getting "stuck" in diamond (like Kirei). There are several videos on the topic if you search "S14 ranked" Also, your unranked games ONLY affect your ranked MMR on Fresh accounts! That used to be a strat, get a fresh lvl 30 account, play 30 norms games w/ your high-elo friends and win all of them, and then start ranked with Diamond+ MMR

    • @YourFailsafe
      @YourFailsafe 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @coachboc is your mmr loose at the start of a split (like for the first two weeks or idk) or until you play your first games?

    • @coachboc
      @coachboc 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@YourFailsafe Until you play games! Because the system has no data to base your MMR off of, so it stays "loose" after a reset until you play. BUT.. your MMR can decay! So if you played ranked and were diamond multiple years ago, but haven't touched the game since then, your MMR will be loose, but you will have "decayed" to like gold/plat or lower..

    how do i pick a main? there are too many champions that i want to play and i haven't been able to commit to 2-3. it's 100% the biggest thing in the way of me climbing and improving but idk how to go about deciding what i like enough to play for at least a full split. i've decided that i want to play either mid or top, but there are still like ten champions that i'm interested in playing in each role (mostly either mages or bruisers/skirmishers) and idk which role and champions to pick. i'm trying to solve this problem before next season so that i can start grinding ranked without wasting my time.

      The thing that matters most is just restricting your champion pool to 2-3 champions compared to being 10ish champions. If you do just this, you will have better results that just by having 10ish champs. All this to say just pick whatever you want to play. You do not need to be right directly either, just pick something and if you realize you don't like one of the three you can always change this. If you still need criterias you can pick fun > easier champs > champs you're better with ig

    Thank you I needed that video ! I found myself in many examples you showed, climbing from being unranked for 2 splits (previously plat 2- plat 1 before emerald existed), skyrocketted to emerald III at start of this split, with like 70% w/r over 50 games, and dropped back to plat III, with still over 55% winrate, and 60%+ with my mains champs over 120 games. Just had a rough time with negative lp after a loose streak at emerald IV 0 LP which fckd my MMR for like 30 games. Now I'm slowly grinding back, trying not to tilt (which is very hard). Just playing less and focusing on quality games, and i will try to get back to emerald before season ends, and will stop playing ranked on this account for the rest of the season. I will wait for the rank reset and try to hit diamond next season. Thank you very much. I would also be interested to see how you can review games with a real purpose (as a jungler).

    With all due respect and from my perspective, after playing ranked games since 2013, I have to say that much of what is presented in the video seems incorrect to me in the sense that the part that doesn’t depend on the player (the system) is immense, unfair, and deliberately hidden due to Riot’s interests. I mean, no, the problem isn't that the game tries to balance your win rate by matching you with better players; it's that they do it by giving you teammates who are much worse. It's not your case, but many people just say "git gud," and that if you deserve to climb, you should be able to consistently carry four useless teammates. Gold, as you say, is more or less the mid-tier where people are approximately in the top 50% of the game. Fine... How many hours might it take for a Gold 4 player to reach that level on a new account? I'll tell you: hundreds or thousands every year. In a game where individual players objectively influence around 10% of the outcome (and it's actually much less, because you'd also need to factor in smurfs, eloboosters, autofills, etc.). In chess, an intermediate Elo player starting from scratch in a game where each player impacts almost 50% of the outcome would only need 10-20 hours, maybe 50 at most, to reach their real Elo. League of Legends simply makes the ranked experience unfair to force players to grind games and increase their profits, completely sacrificing the competitive integrity of the game. By making people invest hundreds or thousands of hours a year just to reach their real level, all they achieve is worsening the competitive experience for everyone during that process. As for the recommendations you give about focusing on oneself, I agree. I’ve been applying the Bo3 approach for a long time, dodging 1 or 2 times per day if necesary, etc, etc , and it helps me perform more consistently. However, in my opinion, it’s important to remember that everything is futile because it ultimately depends on what the system wants to do with you, and most matches are decided by the system from the moment you accept the queue.

      While I disagree with you, I want to say thank you for taking the time to type out your thoughts like this. I choose to have a more hopeful outlook on the game because taking all the responsibility I can (without compromising my mental health) leads me to be more in-control of the things i actually CAN do better both in game and out of game. I'm glad the bo3 method is working for you and I hope you are able to find success and happiness!

      @seowlfh3731 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! I do not want to agree or disagree with your conclusion, however some of the points did not make sense to me, so I'm wishing to get more insight. What I understood from your argument is that Riot made the system unfair for benefits (in short), so if I understood something wrong feel free to point that out. > I mean, no, the problem isn't that the game tries to balance your win rate by matching you with better players; it's that they do it by giving you teammates who are much worse. I'm not going to argue whether this is true or false, because I have no clue about this. But while this would be very frustrating, having worse teammates or better enemies should lead to the same game outcome. Hence, I do not see how it makes the system unfair. > How many hours might it take for a Gold 4 player to reach that level on a new account? I'll tell you: hundreds or thousands every year. Curious, are you saying this from your own experience? > In a game where individual players objectively influence around 10% of the outcome (and it's actually much less, because you'd also need to factor in smurfs, eloboosters, autofills, etc.). I would argue that you can influence more than 10% of the outcome. Smurfs are able to consistently win most of their games in lower elo, so this cannot be 10%. Moreover, I find that normal for a player of same skillset as their elo to have arond 5-20% of influence depending on their game. While there are ways for them to influence the game (roaming, neutralizing their opponent, give information) and there are also ways one can mitigate the enemy's influence on them (vision, minimap awareness and all), there are 4 others players on your team, and you cannot be everywhere everytime. Some part of unfairness comes from the fact that it's a multiplayer game, and your range action is limited. However, I would argue that the ways I enumerated are ways to significantly get a better influence on your games (without talking about individual improvement or consistency). But I fail to see the system's fault. > In chess, an intermediate Elo player starting from scratch in a game where each player impacts almost 50% of the outcome would only need 10-20 hours, maybe 50 at most, to reach their real Elo. What I will say does not matter in your argument because the total number of hours put into League to reach your elo is far greater than for chess, but raw time estimates are biased. If we take rapid chess, I would guess a game is 10-15min average, while League would be at least 10-15min greater. Number of games for before the MMR elasticity is greatly reduced would be a better metric. Hence, I'm not convinced that these points prove the game is unfair, and curious about what you think about what I sayed. If I misunderstood anything, my bad, and feel free to correct me~

      @@FlyingMartino you mention players have a (probably lower) 10% impact. If I understand that correctly. I gotta respectfully dissagree on that. Everyone's had their fair share of trolls, people that refuse to play after whatever happened. Things like people running it, adc's building tank and only sidelaning refusing to cooperate ect. I'd argue those have more than just 10% impact on the result of the game. Same goes for hard smurfs in lower elo. Their understanding of the game, nechanics ect is also at a level where I think they impact more than 10% of the game outcome. But now there is you and me, 2 normal players that are hopefully not inting/smurfing and the system put us at a rank it thinks we belong. I think that ceetain decissions you make while playing can greatly impact the game. Being there for that dragon fight, roaming at correct times, helping in teamfights, ect. Sometimes 1 single play you make can greatly change the outcome of the game. I think if you have the mentality that you can not or barely change the outcome of the game can blind you from these small plays that can change the game enormously. My mentality is: I cannot control my teammates but idc how they perform, I try to always play MY best game.

    Good video, but i have something to say, bc you can't deny that matchmaking is in the worst state EVER right now, is the most inconsistent matchmaking we've ever had. Players that don't even have silver skill lvl are playing in plat/emerald with players that were literally master the last season (this happened to me btw, i hitted diamond a a year ago btw, having a master in my team was a free stomp for us). The thing is that when i saw this guy's OPGG he was HARDSTUCK in emerald, he did tell me that he was so frustrated with the game lately. I think that right now middle elos (high gold, plat and emerald) are a salad of players that don't really take their skill on count for matchmaking and duoqeue is just making it even worst.

      I hear you, and it does suck. Unfortunately, this is what the player base was asking for..
